What could you have done to improve your learning experience?

• Drink more coffee before class

• I could have actually read the book

• I could have prepared for my speeches a bit more beforehand, or carefully look over what is required from each project.

• I could have probably practiced my speech more.

• I don't think anything

• I felt that I achieved the greatest possible learning experience

• I think he did a great job teaching us and helping us to learn and understand subjects.

• Jake was an excellent instructor. He made every class interesting with different exercises related to the course work. The course does not need improvements!

• Knowing which day we were presenting so it was more realistic.

• Maybe emphasize the proper way to research for a speech and then how to incorporate it into the outlines.

• practiced my speeches in front of people so I was less nervous when it became time

• Spend more time practicing my speeches

• work harder.

What do you understand as the course outcomes? How successfully were they met?

• How to give presentational speeches.

• I wasn't really sure, but I had a great time in this class.

• no as nervous in front of people while speaking

• The better you know the information you're talking about, the more comfortable you'll be in front of the classroom.

• The course cover every objective it set out to teach.

• The course outcomes were to become a better presentational speaker and I think I was somewhat successful.

• The course outcomes were to become a better speaker and be able to do things outside of your comfort level. I thought it was successful

• The outcome was for me to leave this class a better public speaker and I think i definitely met that goal.

• They were al met very well

• TO become a better presentational speaker. My outcome was successful

• To become a more efficient and skilled speaker or presenter. It was successfully met.

What do you consider to be the strengths and weaknesses regarding the course?

• 8am

• forced people to get out of comfort zones which was nice

• I think this class is a great class, I hate speaking in front of people but Jake made it way more enjoyable and it wasn't something I dreaded. He made the class comfortable and I would recommend anyone to take this class with him regardless their major.

• Strength: it's useful info. Weakness: a lot of the stuff going towards the speeches kinda sucked.

• Strengths were having to meet long time limits and not being able to read off notecards. Weaknesses was not knowing which day we werepresenting.

• Strengths: many speeches were given to have a lot of hands-on experience, and each speech got more personal, ultimately ending with impromptu which was a great skill experience. Weaknesses: being so early in the day, it was hard to concentrate, or to do a good job on some of the participation

• The biggest strength would be the mood of the room. It was never too serious and everyone always treated ech other with attention and respect.

• The course taught us how to become better speakers. I learned much more than expected

• The only weakness was the 8am class time. Other than that Jake was the strength of the class making each 8 am enjoyable.

• The professor made it easy to learn and stand up and give our speech. He encouraged participation in class.

• The strengths are the structure and I do not know any weaknesses

• The strengths were causing us to think outside of the box

• While the course gave us a good sense of structure in our speeches, there sometimes lacked creativity because of it.

What could you have done to improve your learning experience?

• I had a great learning experience

• I think I could have practiced a little more for the speeches to better my presentation.

• I wish I could have been less nervous in my speeches, but I did prepare a lot for each speech and I think that with each speech I got more confident. The professor and my classmates were also really helpful to feel more comfortable for me to speak infant of them.

• I would not have done anything else. This was the class i was dreading the most this semester and it turned out to be one of my favorites that ive taken during my time here at syracuse

• I wouldn't do anything, the learning experience went over my expectations. By far the best class I have taken!

• Less on format of speeches and more to effectively publicly speak in readers to performance, less content focused.

• More freedom on what we were allowed to give speeches about.

• Practice my presentations more and pay more attention in class.

• practice my speeches infront of other people/friends

• Put more effort into preparation before presentation.

• Read the assigned readings and take notes more

What do you consider to be the strengths and weaknesses regarding the course?

• Great course, did multiple presentations and also understand how to write a speech

• I think the course was all strengths. It help me to get out of my comfort zone and get over my fear of public speaking. The class was also really fun which made me more interested in coming to class and hearing or doing a speech.

• I think the professor was the strength of the class. Jake was my favorite professor I've had at syraucse university. he made students feel comfortable with each other and kept the class that is required for most students in the class interesting and fun.

• Strength: fast and effective feedback from instructor

• Strengths are that this course was extremely interactive. This not only helped the class environment but it motivated people to go to class. Jake is a very great teacher and is helpful when you need it. He is available to reach any time needed and he made the course very enjoyable. I improved my presentational speaking skills after this class and i appreciate everything jake did for us. No weaknesses at all.

• Strengths: participation, student involvement Weaknesses: lack of content on ways to speak well, too much on formatting speeches

• The professor was great, very enthusiastic, and interesting. I genuinely enjoyed going to class and can't thing of weaknesses.

• The stregnths of this course was Jake as the awesome instructor that he is. I was really not looking forward to take Presentational Speaking, but Jake changed my whole experience. I would sometimes get annoyed of the group exercises that he made us do at first, but now I see that they really worked to make us feel more comfortable speaking in front of a room. His humor was key to his way to deliver class! I was laughing in every class. Overall, Jake don't change and most enjoyable class I think I'll ever take (outside of the PED classes)

• the strengths are definitely that jake is an AWESOME instructor. he makes you feel incredibly comfortable in a classroom where everyone kind of has to get to know each other and speak in front of audiences. he makes the class extremely extremely enjoyable. there are noweaknesses to this class, it was my favorite class this semester

What do you consider to be the strengths and weaknesses regarding the course?

• The strengths were deffinetly the professor and how he taught this course. I enjoyed the various presentations and after taking this class I feel alot more confident when presenting. Another strength was that the professor was always willing to meet with us and discuss ourspeeches. After every speech I meet with him and he gave me extremely constructive feedback on how to improve.
