Fr. Brian’s Blarney Project Rachel Ministry
The department of Evangelization, Catechesis and Schools is hosting Victoria Thorn
for a training session for Post-Abortive Healing for the Project Rachel Ministry. It will
be held on Wednesday, May 15th, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. — 2:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart
Major Seminary, 2701 Chicago Blvd., Detroit, MI.
Victoria Thorn works with the USCCB – Hope After Abortion. She teaches how to
understand post-abortion trauma – the psychological, emotional, spiritual, relational
impact of abortion and the healing process. There will be a personal witness of abortion
impact and healing process.
Ministry healing resources and pastoral options and a Q & A with post-abortion trained
therapist and priest will be offered. I have seen Victoria Thorn present at the conference
that I would attend in Chicago. She is excellent.
The cost is $15, which includes lunch and handout materials. If someone needs
assistance with this cost, please let me know.
This seminar is recommended for Pastoral Associates, Deacons, DRE’s, Christian
Service Coordinators, Parish Nurses, Catechists, Youth & Young Adult Ministers,
Educators, Professional Therapists, and Health Care Workers.
Please register by May 6th at: http://projectracheltraining.eventbrite.com
For more information please contact: Socorro Truchan at 313-237-4691.
CSA
Our Catholic Services Appeal (CSA) target is $42, 833 for the fiscal year 2013-2014.
This target amount has been lowered by $2,909. Please note that this target amount is a
mandatory amount given to the parish by the Archdiocese of Detroit and the parish must
make up any shortfall. This means that we usually have to budget in $10,000 or more
that is taken directly from our income or our savings.
We assign 344 envelopes for our roughly 400 families. However, we average 160
envelopes a week for the collection. The recommended contribution this year is $250
per family. If you cannot reach that target, please consider donating what you can afford,
so that we at least come close to our target. If you are able to contribute more, please do
so. Anything over our target comes directly back to the parish un-taxed by the
Archdiocese of Detroit.
Archdiocesan Choral Concert
The Archdiocesan Chorus of Detroit presents 100 Years of Benjamin Britten. The
AOD Chorus will perform a concert of 20th century English sacred choral and organ
music that include music from composers Benjamin Britten, Edward Elgar, Ralph
Vaughan Williams and Herbert Howells.
It will be this Sunday, April 28th from 3 – 4 pm at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed
Sacrament 9844 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI. A $5 donation is suggested. For more
information, contact Joe Balistreri: 313-237-5782 or [email protected]

The St. Luke Production,
“Maximilian”, on April 19 was a huge success. The story of St. Maximilian Kolbe, especially as performed by Leonardo Defilippis, was truly an inspiration to all who attended.
Many thanks to all who volunteered to help with set-up, product sales, refreshments, and tear-down. We had more people volunteer than we even asked for which made the work go even smoother and faster than we had hoped. May God Bless all of you for giving of your time, talent and treasure for the Glory and Honor of God and the good of our St. Anthony Parish.
St. Anthony Prayer Team will be
gathering in the Cemetery, located on Erie Road between Secor & Douglas, on Sunday, April 28
at 12:30pm Prayers will be offered for the Repose of the Souls of the deceased members of St. Anthony Parish. Prayers will include recitation of the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet.
All are invited to join us. (In the event of rain,
this event will be cancelled.)
