Our Fall Rummage Sale
has been set for
Wednesday & Thursday, October 5 & 6.
On Saturday, September 24 at 9:00am, we will
begin setting up for the sale. We will need a lot of
help unloading the contents of the pods (which are
filled with items collected from estate sales over the summer.) A lot of it is furniture, so
it will take volunteers who are able to do a bit of lifting. Lunch will be served that day
for all who come to volunteer. We’ll continue with the set-up on Sunday, September 25
following the 11am Mass.
Last Spring, our sale brought in over $18,000. Much of it came from items collected
from estate sales. Our Rummage Sales are the main fund raisers for the Parish; we
depend on volunteers to be able to continue on this scale.
If you are able to help that weekend, please call Carol Fuelling 419-350-5900 ASAP.
Catholic Conversations will resume
on Wednesday, September 21, 7:30-
9pm in Padua Hall. This year, the
meetings will take place on the 3rd, 4th &
5th Wednesdays of the month. Everyone
is welcome to join our group as you are
able. Under the skillful leadership of
Glenn Ingersoll, many current and varied
topics are covered; discussions are lively
and informative. The Catholic
perspective for all topics is carefully and
faithfully maintained.
Especially in today’s world, we need to
be able to enter into conversations of
current events knowledgeable in what the
Church really teaches.
“Catholic Conversations” is a great
venue in which to learn.
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)
Do you know someone who is curious
about the Catholic Faith? St. Anthony
Parish welcomes non-Catholics to a
series of informal discussions beginning
in September (Monday evenings). Over
light refreshments, we will answer
questions and share the Catholic Faith.
Please call Ron Oehlers 419-377-8952 to
register, or for more information.
Jim Lemble was the August 50/50 winner. His winning "annual" ticket was worth $451.00 plus he collected the $50.00 seller incentive. Jim
was also the 2nd
annual winner for this year. 2016 has been a very good year for annuals. We now have 355 reserved tickets. The cost for one annual is now only $4.00. One annual equals one chance for each of the remaining months of 2016. Annuals can be purchased by stopping at the church office during the week, or at the 50/50 table on the 4th Sunday of the month, or at The K of C Breakfasts - 2nd Sunday of the month, beginning next week. You can buy an annual for anyone you wish. They are a great gift for the "hard to buy for” person. Any questions, just stop by the 50/50 table and I will be more than happy to help you. That each may contribute to the common good and to the building of a society that places the human person at the center. Evangelization: Mission to Evangelize That by participating in the Sacraments and meditation of Scripture, Christians may become more aware of their mission to evangelize.
Please note the following change
in this week’s Mass Schedule: There will be NO 8:30am Mass on
Wednesday, September 7: The Intention scheduled for that day,
“For the Repose of the Soul of Gerry
MacAdams by Joann Kolinski” has been
moved to Sept. 14 at the 8:30am Mass.
“Year of Mercy” Conference Saturday, October 8.

Fr. Brian’s Blarney Pig, Paint, and Pop We had a great turnout last Saturday for the Pig Roast. There were probably a hundred
in attendance. Thanks to Chelsea Schmidt, who provided the pig and the equipment, and
Robert Maenle, who cooked and prepared all the other dishes. Thanks to all of the
volunteers for providing the sides, drinks, and help.
Betzi Leivens hosted her first painting class here in the Knights of Columbus Room.
There were twelve of us painting a barn scene and a number of people watching us paint.
Everyone that participated had an enjoyable time. Many of us were surprised at how
good our paintings turned out thanks to the guidance of Betzi. We are hoping to offer
more of these classes.
Eric Hite provided the pop music, which was a nice addition to the painting. He was
one of the one’s painting, so when the music would stop, he would have to run and
restart it. I got a kick out of seeing him run to restart the music and then have to come
back and pick up his paint brush and restart painting.
The Hall looked great. Lakeside did a fantastic job with the dry wall, dropped ceiling,
and the painting. M&M and Kolar Electric blended the hearting ducts and lighting in
well with Lakeside’s work. M&M also figured a way to get the heating units to run on
fan only, so there should be better air circulation in the hall. Townsend Carpeting
replaced the carpeting at the entrances for us and installed new tiles in the former pre-
school room. Cleaning Fanatics stripped the floor and waxed and buffed it to a nice
shine. All in all, the hall looked the best is has been in years. Thanks!
Lift in the Narthex The lift is to be reinstalled on Tuesday, September 6th. In order for them to install it
and get it inspected, it will be down for two to three days. Please pray that they are able
to install it and everything fits this time.
Wisdom Tooth Extraction I am having a wisdom tooth extracted on Tuesday, September 6th at 10am. Please
remember me in your prayers then. Please also pray for my friend, Dr. Robert
Weisenburger, who is performing the extraction. My dentists have been trying to get me
to have them removed for years. There is an abscess behind the bottom left wisdom
tooth, so I finally am having it removed. I have a feeling the infection is starting to affect
my health, so it probably is the right time. I am not going to be sedated, so I will be able
to drive. However, I will probably be out of commission for a couple of days. Thanks
for your prayers.
Frankenmuth If you are ever in Frankenmuth, please stop by Willi’s Sausage Company and say hello
to the new owners – Keith and Jackie Gere. They are former parishioners and Jackie was
the Director of Religious Education for a number of years here. They bought the place in
December 2015 and have done a wonderful job of sprucing it up and adding more
products.
After watching my niece play volleyball for Traverse City Central at Bay City Western
in a tournament, I decided on a surprise visit to Willi’s to see Jackie and Keith before I
hit a few stores in Birch Run. They happened to be at the new Frankenmuth Farmer’s
Market with samples and selling grilled brats. It was busy at the Market, since it was the
grand opening with a ribbon cutting and presentations. It was fun catching up with them
and hearing about their new adventure.

Catholic Services Appeal
2016
Dear Friends in Christ,
Each year, all parishes in the Archdiocese of Detroit embark upon the CSA (Catholic Services Appeal) Drive. The CSA is
a required collection taken up for the general operational expenses of the Archdiocese of Detroit. It helps to subsidize
Catholic institutions that may not necessarily be connected to or funded by a particular parish. Among these special
services are Campus Ministry, Telecommunications, Hospital and Prison Chaplaincies, Central Service Offices, which
provide direct assistance to individual parishes, the Marriage Tribunal, and the like. Since the CSA provides for 62% of the
operating budget of the Archdiocese, we are assessed or taxed a specific amount we are asked to meet. Our assessment is
based upon many factors, including parish registration, Sunday collections, and financial status of the area within our parish
boundaries.
Our target for 2016 has been set for $40,040. For your convenience, pledge forms can be found at the bottom of this
page. Please complete the form and designate the amount of your pledge and the payment plan you prefer and return to the
Parish Office. Pledges may also be made by calling the Parish Office 734-854-1143; sending your pledge via email
([email protected]) or by stopping by the Parish Office during regular business hours.
Your pledge can be made in several ways: paid in full and returned with your pledge form; a down payment returned with
your pledge form, with the balance divided into quarterly payments, or divided evenly among 9 monthly payments. Credit
card and automatic withdrawal payments will also be accepted. If you wish to contribute this way, please indicate on the
line below and a form will be sent to you.
Please remember that we are required to make an accounting of all CSA cards for our Parish, so even if you are unable to
pledge, we ask that you indicate that to the Parish Office as well.
I am grateful for your continued stewardship and prayers.
May God Be Blessed!
