The Parish staff wishes to thank the following parish ministries:

We thank our parishioners for their support of the Parish Facil-ity Collection throughout the year . Your generosity allows the parish staff to provide good stewardship for the buildings and grounds. Many blessings! We thank our parishioners who provide for the cleaning, order, and maintenance of the Church. There are many par ish-ioners and individuals who work behind the scenes. These individuals include those who just changed the Missalettes and Music Books in the pews; those who clean the pews after each of the Masses on the weekends; those who oversee the clean-ing of the altar linens; those who clean the Church each Mon-day morning; those who tend to the flowers and plants; those who clean the Church for the weekend Masses; those who oversee the candle ministry; the parish maintenance staff; etc. We thank you for your ministry and work! 2018 BISHOP’S LENTEN APPEAL (BLA)

Peace and good! As you know, the theme for the Bishop’s Lenten Appeal (BLA) is “Living in faith and Giving in grat-itude.” As you reflect upon the donation you have made/pledged or what type of donation/pledge you should make to the BLA, I invite you to reflect upon the ways in which the BLA embrac-es the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy which are ac-tions we can perform that extend God’s compassion and mer-cy to those in need. The Corporal Works of Mercy are these kind acts by which we help our neighbors with their material and physical needs.

• feed the hungry • give drink to the thirsty • clothe the naked • shelter the homeless • visit the sick • visit the imprisoned • bury the dead

The Spiritual Works of Mercy are acts of compassion by which we help our neighbors with their emotional and spiritu-al needs.

• counsel the doubtful • instruct the ignorant • admonish sinners • comfort the afflicted • forgive offenses • bear wrongs patiently • pray for the living and the dead

As a friar and priest who has had the privilege of ministering here at St. Joseph Catholic Church, I have been blessed to have shared in living out the spiritual and corporal works of mercy with Bishop Burbidge, Bishop Emeritus Loverde, the friars, the faithful of the parish, and the faithful of the Diocese of Arlington. As you reflect upon your BLA pledge, remem-ber that every pledge is an expression of God’s love and mer-cy! Let us embrace the spirit of “Living in faith and Giving in gratitude.” In the peace of Francis of Assisi, Father Tom
