“Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of

me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not

worthy of me,” Matthew 10:37

We all have loved ones in our lives; people who we cannot

imagine being without. Each of those loved ones is a gift from

a loving God. We must not however place these special

people at a level above God himself. God is to be our center-

most point from which all blessings radiate.

…..whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

Matthew 10:39

Not long ago, I realized I had a reality problem. Anytime I

conflicted with my kids or faced a load of housework, I

wanted to check out mentally. The challenges were so

consistent, it seemed I could do them with my spiritual eyes

shut. I hoped to be a better Christian when all the obstacles

to my patience and self-control were cleared. In the

meantime, I was wishing my life away.

Imagination can be a powerful good. It helps us to engage

with Christ as we try to envision His life on earth. Even the

mundane things He did were, by His nature, infused with

divine life.

If I can trust His plan for my own difficult or even trivial

moments, uniting my heart with His, receiving Him in the

sacraments, He can use those parts of my life for my

spiritual good. By ignoring His voice in those moments, I

limit my participation in His plan for my life.

MARRIAGE MOMENT

Independence is an important step on the journey to

adulthood, but marriage also requires dependence. I de-

pend on you to keep your word, to be there when I’m

feeling hurt, to watch the kids so I can have a break. How

do you depend on one another?

Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph,

From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for your prayers and support dur-

ing my first year of priesthood as your Associate Pastor. I want to thank everyone

for the friendships and the time we spent together here. It has been a great time, and

I will look back fondly when I think of you. Many of you have made a great impact

on me, and I have learned much from you. Thank you for everything. Even though I

am leaving, I am sure that you and I will continue to be successful because of what

we have learned from each other.

Please continue to pray for me as I began my new assignment.

May the good Lord grant you His peace, love and good health.

God bless you

THE THIRTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Thank you!

It is with bittersweet feelings that I leave St Joseph Parish Staff to move on

to the next stage of my life. The past eight years of ministry here with you

have been a total gift and for that, I thank each of you. Your support, en-

couragement, and kindnesses to me are greatly appreciated. I leave you

with the words of Flavia, the poet:

“Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay a while and

leave footprints on our hearts and we are never ever the same.”

Thank you for the footprints!
