...you have hidden these things from the wise and the

learned [and] you have revealed them to little ones.

Matthew 11:25

The “wise and the learned” carry knowledge within them

that children do not have. Knowledge is essential, but it can

also keep the mind blocked from receiving what the spirit

needs for growth. Too much emphasis on knowledge leads

to imbalanced self-importance and an unwillingness to

listen and learn from others. No wonder Jesus refers to

children as the ones who discover the hidden things of the

heart. I’ve observed children with their parents in

supermarkets. The parent is intent on one thing only–

securing what’s on the shopping list. In the meantime, the

child reaches out to touch colors on packages, picks up

fruit, smells it, and pokes around longingly in the candy

rack. In our faith life, we might consider being more like a

child in a supermarket, exploring and examining what we

believe. Greater maturity is always available in order to

fully live the tenets of our beautiful Christianity.

W.O.W. HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH ACTIVITIES

CLI or Christian Leadership Institute— July 10-14, includes a series of training workshops, prayer, daily mass,

group activities and team building to enhance leadership potential, while fostering personal and spiritual growth. It

is an attempt to show that the youth are not the “church of the future”, but a gifted, motivated and essential part

of the Body of Christ today. The rich tradition and history behind CLI has a proven track record of empowering

young people. The skills that are learned are ones that participants will not only use in their faith life, but in their

daily living. The overall goal is to enhance the leadership potential of each individual and heighten the awareness of

participants’ Christian leadership responsibilities. It’s also a way to meet new friends and have a lot of fun! Appli-

cants must complete an application and have a letter of recommendation from their Youth Minister. Scholarship

All Saints Council in Taylorsville invites you to our all-you-can-eat chicken dinner on

We are located at All Saints Church on Main Cross in Taylorsville, Kentucky.

We feature broasted chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, butter noodles, and all kinds of des-
