Our Lady of Perpetual Help
Our Mother of Perpetual Help St. Alphonsus Liguori founded the Redemptorist Congregation in 1732 so the congregation’s brothers and priests might proclaim the Gospel to the most abandoned, especially the poor. The community’s primary ministry was to
conduct parish missions, that is, to visit local churches and offer “revivals,” preaching sermons, providing catechesis, celebrating the sacraments, reconciling sinners, and teaching people how to pray and continue in their faith journey once the missionaries had move on.
Alphonsus used paintings and statues of Mary as visual aids that complemented and carried his message about Mary and her Son. When Pope Pius IX gave the icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help to the Redemptorists in 1865, Alphonsus’ spiritual heirs found it fit perfectly with the themes they had been preaching.
To this day in churches and homes, wherever a copy of the icon hangs, the message of plentiful redemption and merciful love is continually proclaimed by the Redemption Madonna, Our Mother of Perpetual Help. St. Louise has two devotions to Our Lady of Perpetual Help. One meets on Wednesdays at 6:45 pm and Our Mother of Perpetual Help meets the first Saturday of each month after the 8:00 am mass in the church. Please join us!

There is an appointed time for everything,

heavens.” Ecclesiastes 3:1
The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph
Family life is sacred, but it is not without trial. Perhaps this is the most important message we can glean from today’s readings.
If Jesus, Mary, and Joseph can trip up sometimes—can disconnect—then we shouldn’t find it surprising when such things happen to us as well. And parents everywhere (children, too) can probably relate to—and take some solace in—the Gospel’s account of Mary and Joseph after Jesus explained why he stayed behind in the temple. They heard his words, Luke tells us, “But they did not understand what he said to them.” (Luke 2:50). Amen! Nevertheless, Jesus does go back home with them, and continues to thrive under their care.
Pope Francis has announced the Jubilee of Mercy, which begins on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception and concludes on Sunday, November 20, 2016.
'I have decided to announce an Extraordinary Jubilee which has at its center the mercy of God. It will be a Holy Year of Mercy. We want to live in the light of the word of the Lord: “Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful” (cf. Lk 6:36). And this especially applies to confessors! So much mercy!
May this be the year that you become more involved in your parish! What a delightful way to celebrate the Jubilee of Mercy!
In this weeks Bulletin there are requests from several minis-tries in which you may become involved! Get to know your fellow parishioners, do the active works of God.
Have a blessed New Year from the Parish Staff!
Happy 2016!
The Year of Mercy!

Then you know how much a person with compassion is needed to assist in the planning of the Funeral Mass.
Maybe you could be the person to assist the family in planning the services for their loved one. Meet with the family and help them through the process, obtain the information needed from the family about the deceased, set up the funeral mass, work with the celebrant, purify and put the sacred vessels away.
Pray and ask yourself is the Lord calling me to serve in this ministry?
If you would like to know more about the Funeral Intake Coordinators, Please contact:

SGV Homeless Shelter Clothes Drive—Update
Thank you for your generous donations of winter clothes, and new socks and under ware. With it being a cold and wet winter season , your gifts will be much needed. Clean and dry under garments go along way
when living on the streets. I would like to report to you that our parish has abundantly blessed the SGV Shel-ter that will be hosted at St. Dorothy Church in Glendora, the last weeks of the 2015 year.
Truck loads have been donated by the St. Louise Community that we will have plenty of left over donations after the shelter ends! We will continue our distribution of these winter clothes to the homeless in the San
Pedro and Los Angeles regions as well!!!
Your gifts of time and treasure go along way my friends. Let us continue to remember those who suffer in our community and in our world and extend those acts of mercy even after the holiday season ends.
On behalf of my co-coordinators I would like to extend to you a generous and warm thank you.
May our Lord continue to bless you.
In His Service, Dn Omar

DID YOU KNOW?
Take a time out to communicate Sometimes, kids need a place to go where they can say
what they want, and they won’t be immediately punished
or have to deal with a negative reaction. It’s important to
make sure your child has such a space or time – after din-
ner conversations, an ice cream spot, riding home from
school – where they can tell you what’s on their mind,
good or bad, and you can just listen and discuss, without
taking the instant parental approach. If your children feel
safe talking to you openly, you are better equipped to
notice and handle any red flags in their lives.
For a copy of the VIRTUS® article “Modeling Good
Communication,” email: [email protected] For more information on other ways to keep kids safe, contact Linda Filkins, the Parish Safeguard Committee Chairperson at (626) 826-4178 or the Archdiocesan Safeguard the Children Office at (213) 637-7227. For particular help, call the Victims Assistance Ministry Office at (213) 637-7650.
