RITE OF ACCEPTANCE MASS
FEAST OF OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE
SIMBANG GABI St. Louise is once again joining with local parishes in a Novena of Masses in prepara on for the birth of our Savior.
Simbang Gabi is the celebra on of the annual Novena Mass, a tradi on the Filipinos brought with them from the Philippines. Simbang Gabi was adapted from the Catholic Misa de Gallo, which means “Mass of the Rooster,” to indicate it is held when the rooster crows and dates back to 1565. during this season, Filipinos create beau ful decora ons called “parol,” paper lanterns to commemorate the Star of Bethlehem. These lanterns were used by the farmers to guide them in the dark to the Holy Mass. Tradi onally, the days events would begin two hours before dawn to give farmers a chance to hear Mass before se ng out for the fields. Choirs would sing Tagalog songs such as “Pasko-na-Naman” (It’s Christmas Again), and “Himig Pasko.” A er Mass, they would treat themselves to tradi onal puto, kutsinta and bibingka, made with sweet rice and rice dough to crown each day of the nine-day Christmas novena and to truly celebrate Christmas, the Filipino Way. (occcatholic.com).
All Filipino families of St. Louise are also invited to assist in the planning and prepara on for our own Simbang Gabi celebra on which will be held at 7:00pm Saturday, December 17th, with a recep on to follow in Msgr. Pierce Hall.
Sign-ups are taking place this Sunday, December 11th, outside of the Hall pa o a er Masses. If you are interested in par cipa ng in either event, please call Tess Panlilio at (909) 971-3529 .
The Lady of Guadalupe Feast Day celebra on is on Monday, December 12th, 2016. The day begins at 5:00 am with the Rosary in the pa o area, then Holy Mass at 6:00 am. There is a breakfast recep on that will follow a er Mass in the Msgr. Pierce Hall. Mariachi’s will perform at Mass and at the recep on.
5:00 am Rosary in the Pa o 6:00 am Holy Mass Mariachi’s will perform 7:15 am Breakfast Recep on
Please join us! This celebra on is open to all and is a beau ful celebra on both musically and spiritually.
The Rite of Acceptance is the first of the “threshold rites” of the Rite of Chris an Ini a on of Adults (RCIA), and the first public liturgical ritual. In the Rite of Acceptance, a change of iden ty takes place: those previously known as inquirers will become catechumens. They are officially welcomed by the Church as disciples at the Mass so the en re Catholic community can par cipate ac vely in the celebra on. The Rite of Acceptance Mass is Sunday, December 18th at the 9:30 am Mass.

GUADALUPANA MINISTRY

The proceeds from the tamale fundraiser offset the expenses for the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which is tomorrow, Monday, December 12th beginning at 5:00 am with a rosary. The Holy Mass begins at 6:00 am which includes music from the Mariachi’s and ends with a breakfast recep on in the Msgr. Pierce Hall. See Page 2 in the bulle n for more informa on.
St. Louise Confirma on and Youth Ministry had their annual pancake breakfast on Sunday, December 4th serving hotcakes, scrambled eggs and sausages. There were tables set up selling Christmas homemade cra s, jewelry, cards and goodies.

SPIRITUAL ENRICHMENT
Our Advent retreat is Monday, December 12th, 2016 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the church. Father McShane will touch the subject of the First Christmas when Jesus and the Holy Family were turned away at the Inn with the words, “There is no room for you here!” This Advent season we too can allow the Secular World and Christmas prepara ons to overshadow that which is the most important thing to prepare—our hearts.
This Advent, let us make room for Christ in our hearts and home that we might joyfully receive the Infant Savior on Christmas Day! Father McShane will lead our Advent retreat with spiritual reflec ons as well as prac cal ways by which we can prepare ourselves and our families to eagerly receive the Prince of Peace with open hearts renewed!
The retreat will include prac cal ways in which to spiritually prepare ourselves for the birth of Jesus. There will be reflec ons on the First Christmas and how we can see more deeply the meaning of Christmas spiritually and how it relates to us in the sense how we can take the elements of the First Christmas and apply them to our celebra on today.

Pokémon Go stops could lead kids to dangerous places. With the popular game Pokémon Go, kids can interact with virtual game components in real-life loca ons. Some features of the game can present serious dangers for children using the app and interac ng with other gamers. “PokéStops” – loca ons in which players can collect Pokémon – can be anywhere, and recently, one was reported to be at the entrance of a rehabilita on center that housed sex offenders. Parents should be aware of the game’s features and monitor children’s use to ensure that any Pokémon collec ng is done safely.
