OVERVIEW• Mongol conquests of the 13th and

14th centuries destroyed remaining Muslim unity in southern Asia

• Muslim expansion eventually led to three new empires:

-Ottoman, Safavid, and Mughal• All had strong militaries and

gunpowder technology• All had absolute monarchies and

agrarian economies

• The poster must include:– 4 significant events/things about WHY it is the most

significant empire of Islam (what makes it so important to the spread of Islam)?

• Your poster should be persuasive! You are persuading your peers that yours is the best empire!

Empire DEBATE • If you talk when it is not your turn you will be out of

the debate.• Step 1- meet with your Empire- they will meet with

other people that picked the same empire and take their posters to use

• Step 2- compare your posters/points and elect a debate leader…prepare the main points you want to begin with…everyone will have a chance to debate

• Step 3 – Debate begins• Step 4: Closing arguments• Step 5: Vote on the greatest empire as a class
