CATHOLIC COUNSELING SERVICES

Out of compliance with the precautions regarding COVID-19, Catholic Counseling Service (CCS) continues to offer telehealth services to individuals, couples, and families through the phone or video-conferencing platforms. This new and effective method of counseling allows CCS to extend our services across the archdiocese to areas we weren’t previously available. Beginning Monday, May 18th, we will resume our face-to-face counseling at our New Orleans office; however, staff and clients are required to take necessary precautions to ensure the safety of all, including wearing facemasks and maintaining 6 feet apart where possible. Through the generosity of a donor, CCS has received a grant to increase the number of clients we can assist with the cost of counseling, including providing pro bono services when necessary. CCS offers counseling for $50 a session and will continue to use a sliding scale to assist anyone looking for counseling. We are committed to removing finances as an obstacle to mental health services. Anyone interested in counseling can speak to our intake coordinator by calling our main office at 504-861- 6245. If we are unable to answer a call, please leave a message with their name and preferred contact phone number and someone will return their call within the next business day to complete the intake and schedule an appointment. All calls are completely confidential. We are proud to continue our mission of providing quality and affordable counseling to the Archdiocese of New Orleans.

God, our Father, Creator and Lord of the Universe, you have set the earth on its foundation and all the elements of nature obey your command. We humbly beseech you to keep us safe from all dangers and calm the storms that threaten us. May we be secure in your loving protection and serve you always with grateful hearts. We ask this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit one God, forever and ever.

CCRNO VIRTUAL DAY OF REFRESHMENT FOR WOMEN

This year, the CCRNO Women's Day of Refreshment will be presented online. CCRNO held our annual Pentecost Festival of Praise online and had nearly 2000 views from around the world. We hope to increase our participation in this Virtual Day of Refreshment. The theme is "Fearfully and Wonderfully Made" from Psalm 139. It will feature a special presentation by Janice Charbonnet titled "Dear Jesus, It’s Swimsuit Season." Janice has a gift for communicating Saint John Paul II’s Theology of the Body in a simple, engaging style. There will be several testimonies about the Baptism in the Spirit by young mothers. The event will conclude with a time of praise, worship and prophetic ministry. The prayer ministry team will include Patti Mansfield, Denise Beyer, and Andi Oney. This event will go live online at CCRNO YouTube, CCRNO Facebook and www.ccrno.org on Saturday, June 27 from 10-10:45 a.m. and will be available for viewing any time thereafter. The event requires no registration and is free. Email CCRNO at [email protected] or call 504-828-1368 for more information.

FOOD FROM HEAVEN God sustained the people of Israel for forty years in the desert with manna sent down from heaven, and Moses doesn’t want them to forget it. God brought forth water from stone for them to drink, and Moses doesn’t want them to forget this, either. And Moses tells them—twice—that the food that God sent was a food that neither they nor their ancestors before them had ever experienced before. Jesus too speaks of food come down from heaven, food that the Jewish people had never experienced before. Re-calling the manna in the desert, Jesus doesn’t want them to forget it either, explaining that he is the food and drink of eternal life. And Paul reiterates to the Corinthians and to all of us that in the bread and in the cup, we share in the body and blood of Christ. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
