Smile: A bald man took a seat in a beauty shop. “How can I help you?” asked the stylist. “I went for a hair transplant,” the guy explained. “but I couldn’t stand the pain. If you can make my hair took like yours without causing me any discomfort, I’ll pay you $500.00”“No problem,” said the stylist, and she quickly shaved her head.

FIRST LESSON: FIRST LESSON: FIRST LESSON: FIRST LESSON: Acts 13:44-52
This reading describes how those to whom the good news was first preached rejected the
message about Jesus. The gospel was then received with joy by many non-Jewish
people.
PSALM: PSALM: PSALM: PSALM: 145
A hymn of praise to God for the Lord’s goodness and abundant mercy from generation
to generation.
SECOND LESSON: SECOND LESSON: SECOND LESSON: SECOND LESSON: Revelation 19:1, 4-9
In this lesson John, the Seer, hears great joy in heaven and foresees the majestic
marriage supper of the Lamb.
THE GOSPEL: THE GOSPEL: THE GOSPEL: THE GOSPEL: John 13:31-35
In our Gospel Jesus speaks to his disciples on the night that he is to be betrayed and
handed over to death. Yet his dying as the Son of Man will also be the way that God is
glorified—both because of Jesus’ sacrifice on behalf of others and because of his
resurrection and victory over the power of death. Jesus’ disciples will now be known by
their following of his new commandment—that they love one another with the same
sacrificial love he has shown them.

Letter from Rector
Dear Members,
This week on Wednesday, May Day, the Feast of St. Philip and St. James, I will be celebrating my 15thAnniversary as Rector of this Parish. For many a long time, but for me a short and happy time in my life.
My years here have served to expand my concepts of worship and Church, They have been most challenging. I have benefited from meeting new people, who have given immense support in my work here. It was a pleasure to work alongside the traditional stakeholders in this parish; and to learn from persons like the late Lisle Worrell. His stewardship and churchmanship cannot be challenged; and it has been a pleasure to share in his years of wisdom.
Many others came to mind and in particular the late Grace Thompson, with her calm and focused approached to Church and business. They are many who are still with us who have shared their expertise and witness with me. I must include many of our youth, who have a special if not different way in doing business. Theirs is a fresh approach, which cannot be under estimated by us as a Church. They offer new and exciting ways of spreading the Gospel. They must be listened to and given the necessary encouragement.
A special mention must be made of the organizations and their leadership in this Parish. It has been a pleasure working with you these years. There is a deliberate and constructive approach to your various ministries; these allow you to remain in control as you carry out your mandate.
I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all members for your support and prayers in every aspect of life and ministry. Thanks to each one of you for the respect shown to June and me as we walked alongside you these years.
I invite you to worship with us next Sunday as we celebrate this occasion.
Canon Peter

The next sabbath almost the whole city gathered together to hear the word of God. But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with jealousy, and contradicted what was spoken by Paul, and reviled him. And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, "It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken first to you. Since you thrust it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles. For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, `I have set you to be a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the uttermost parts of the earth.'" And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of God; and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. And the word of the Lord spread throughout all the region. But the Jews incited the devout women of high standing and the leading men of the city, and stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district. But they shook off the dust from their feet against them, and went to Iconium. And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.
PSALM: PSALM: PSALM: PSALM: 145 (as found in Hymns Ancient & Modern)
1. I WILL magnify thee, O God, my King : and I will praise thy Name for ever and ever. 2. Every day will I give thanks unto thee : and praise thy Name for ever and ever. 3. Great is the Lord, and marvellous worthy to be praised : there is no end of his greatness. 4. One generation shall praise thy works unto another : and declare thy power. 5. As for me, I will be talking of thy worship : thy glory, thy praise, and wondrous works; 6. So that men shall speak of the might of thy marvellous acts : and I will also tell of thy greatness. 7. The memorial of thine abundant kindness shall be shewed : and men shall sing of thy righteousness. 8. The Lord is gracious and merciful : long-suffering and of great goodness. 9. The Lord is loving unto every man : and his mercy is over all his works. 10. All thy works praise thee, O Lord : and thy saints give thanks unto thee. 11. They shew the glory of thy kingdom : and talk of thy power; 12. That thy power, thy glory, and mightiness of thy kingdom : might be known unto men. 13. Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom : and thy dominion endureth throughout all ages. 14. The Lord upholdeth all such as fall : and lifteth up all those that are down. 15. The eyes of all wait upon thee, O Lord : and thou givest them their meat in due season. 16. Thou openest thine hand : and fillest all things living with plenteousness. 17. The Lord is righteous in all his ways : and holy in all his works. 18. The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him : yea, all such as call upon him faithfully. 19. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him : he also will hear their cry, and will help them. 20. The Lord preserveth all them that love him : but scattereth abroad all the ungodly. 21. My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord : and let all flesh give thanks unto his holy Name for ever and ever.
SECOND LESSON: SECOND LESSON: SECOND LESSON: SECOND LESSON: Revelation 19:1, 4-9
After this I heard what seemed to be the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, crying, "Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, . . .” And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who is seated on the throne, saying, "Amen. Hallelujah!" And from the throne came a voice crying, "Praise our

Bidding Prayer
Seeking the glory of God in all things, let us pray for the Church and for the world.
Fill the Church with grace, that God may be glorified in her worship…Keep all Christian people faithful to the great commandment of love.
Give to the people of the world a new spirit, of love in place of anger, of trust in place of suspicion…Grant that those who lead the nations may know the responsibility they bear, and work for peace.
We pray that we, with our families, friends and neighbours, may be held together in the bond of love…Help us to offer ourselves, as witnesses to the glory of God.
Pardon and restore those who have failed in love and betrayed their trust…Have mercy on all who suffer from the unfaithfulness of any who are dear to them…Comfort and support the innocent who are betrayed into the hands of unjust powers.
We pray for the departed who in this life put their trust in Christ…Lead them now to go where their Master has gone, to live with him in glory.
May our prayers be accepted through Christ, the Son of Man for ever glorified. Amen.
Dedication Prayer (To be said after the Post Communion Prayer)
Lord, be with us this day and throughout the week; Within us to purify us; Above us to draw us up; Before us to lead us; Behind us to restrain us; Around us to protect us. Amen.

God, all you his servants, you who fear him, small and great." Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the sound of many waters and like the sound of mighty thunderpeals, crying, "Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to be clothed with fine linen, bright and pure" -- for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. And the angel said to me, "Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb." And he said to me, "These are true words of God."
THE GOSPEL: THE GOSPEL: THE GOSPEL: THE GOSPEL: John 13:31-35
When Judas had gone out, Jesus said, "Now is the Son of man glorified, and in him God is glorified; if God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and glorify him at once. Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You will seek me; and as I said to the Jews so now I say to you, `Where I am going you cannot come.' A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."

One day when heaven was filled with His praises,
one day when sin was as black as could be, Jesus came forth to be born of a virgin, dwelt amongst men, my example is He!
Living, He loved me; dying, He saved me;
buried, He carried my sins far away,
rising, He justified freely for ever:
one day He’s coming: O glorious day.
One day they led Him up Calvary’s moun-tain, one day they nailed Him to die on the tree; suffering anguished, despised and rejected; bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He!
One day they left Him alone in the garden, one day He rested, from suffering free; angels came down o’er His tomb to keep vigil; hope of the hopeless, my Saviour is He!
One day the grave could concealed Him no longer, one day the stone rolled away from the door; Then He arose, over death He had con-quered; now is ascended, my Lord evermore!
One day the trumpet will sound for His coming, one day the skies with His glory will shine; wonderful day, my beloved ones bringing; glorious Saviour, this Jesus is mine!
