There are lots of articles that brag about NSU to be a top-notch institution. Well, I, consciously or subconsciously,

have no question about that! However, as an insider I would like to share a specific efficient administrative

process of NSU. If any student wants to pay their tuition fees of a semester after the specified deadline, which is

about a week or two after the initiation of classes, they have to go through a simple procedure outlined below-

1. Write up an application requesting to accept your tuition

fees addressing to the BBA director- Dr. Abdul Hannan

Chowdhury. Oh, btw, dont forget to mention either Dr. or

Phd. wherever applicable otherwise ratification of your

application might become impossible, unless you are too

lucky. I have been there (not kidding). In addition, you are

required to put a seal on the application from the

department office before placing it to the Mr. Director

(with due respect).

2. Make a pay order of the exact amount you are required to

pay for your tuition fees plus a late fee of Tk.500 or Tk.1000depending on the date of payment. For details refer to the

academic calendar accessible through NSUs website. NSU

doesnt consider cash or bank check as a valid mode of

tuition fee payment. They must have become obsolete!

3. Take the application, pay order and the advising slip to the Vice Chancellors office for getting them

attested. The office is at the 6

th

floor of the administration building (for specification, just ask any of theguards). Dont be surprised to wait for a couple of days. You know, Bangladesh has a grave traffic jam

problem!

4. Receive your documents from the VCs office and forward them manually to the other accounts office in

the 3rd

floor of the administrative building, not the one which should have been more appropriately

named Information Desk(if you know what I mean). They would only put a seal on your pay order. Come

on! Help yourself. Why would NSU forward your

document for you? Btw again, please dont mind if

there is no person there. They need breaks too.

5. This is the easiest part. Take the pay order

and the advising slip to the Southeast Bank of

Bashundhara branch. They would endorse their

receipt of payment.

6. Moving on, bring back the registers office

copy of the advising slip and submit it to the registers

office manually. Otherwise it might take excruciatingly

long period to get the slip transferred. Remember the

traffic jam problem?

7. Now you will be officially registered for your semester with a day or two. However, if any of your

faculties have already submitted the grades for the semester, then you are doomed! I mean it, literally. As

NSU management team sees it, since the university was not responsible for your delayed payment you

would be responsible for any of the harassment owing to that. So, you and only you will be solely

responsible for updating the grades of each of those courses. Believe me, faculties can be real lazy or

more formally put- absentminded. And this is the time to get the proof. Once it took me 3 semesters and

11 requests to update a grade of a course. I know, I know! Faculties are too busy a person.

Following these easy 7 steps, students can repent for paying their tuition fees after the deadline. During my tenure

at NSU, I have helped countless number of students dealing with it. They seemed to get lost in the labyrinth, not

knowing what to do next. I, personally, have gone through this process several times. I didnt like it then, I dont

like it now and I have doubt that I will ever like it. Nonetheless, I think I will have to go through this every time I

make a delayed payment because THIS is the NSU way!
