WE CELEBRATE BAPTISM Baptism is celebrated on two Sundays of the month at 1:30PM. Parents must come to the Rectory to complete a special registration form for Baptism. Upon completion of the form, a Baptism date will be given by Sr. Mary. Please do not make arrangements for a Baptism Celebration before you get a Baptism date from Sr. Mary, as we may not be able to grant any special requests for a particular date. Parents of first children are required to attend one Baptism Preparation Class (as well as parents who have never participated in a Baptism class). Registration for the Baptism Preparation Class can be made at the time the Registration Form for Baptism is completed with Sr. Mary.

ANNULMENT – Reestablishing The Freedom To Marry An annulment can be described as a declara on of sacramental matrimonial invalidity. It is an official determina on made by an ecclesias cal court that at the
me of the marital consent exchanged by the par es a specific component of the marriage was lacking or defec ve. Hence, the marriage failed to be a sacramental marriage as defined by the Catholic Church. If you wish to reestablish your freedom to marry in the Church contact the Diocese of Rockville Centre. If you would first like to speak to someone who has been through this process, please contact Philip and Donna Liscia at: 631-942-4645.

Weekday Masses - 8 AM Monday through Saturday

Dear Parishioners,
As you realize, this is a difficult time for all of us physically and spiritually. For the safety of all, the Diocese of Rockville Centre has canceled all Masses, Sacra-ment celebrations and all gatherings in all the parishes. For the foreseeable future, we, like Christ on the Cross, are stripped of all that we as Catholics hold dear. But Christ has risen and we, too, have been raised with Him through Baptism. We are not deprived of God’s presence; by Baptism we have been filled with Christ’s Ho-ly Spirit. Through our daily prayer we remain in contact with our God who has conquered the world, who has promised to be with us always, and who will guide us through this trying time.
Father Augustine and the staff have decided on the following actions. • All weekday and weekend Masses are cancelled. Scheduled Mass Intentions
will be said by Fr. Augustine at his daily private Mass • Funerals will be not celebrated • Baptisms will be postponed unless absolutely necessary • All parish programs and activities are cancelled • The Church will be open for private prayer during the day • Our Outreach will be open Monday through Friday 10am-2pm • The Rectory Office will be open with limited hours. If you need to contact the
Rectory, please call 631-744-2609 before coming down During this time, our weekly expenses still need to be met. We appreciate any con-tribution that you would like to make to St. Anthony’s. You can drop off or mail it to the Rectory at: St. Anthony of Padua, 614 Route 25A, Rocky Point, NY 11778

My Dear Loving People of God who have faith and trust in Him and His Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. Peace and blessings to you all and your family. It is again time for us to say to each other we love you and God bless you. This is the Me-morial Day week-end and we remember all our men and women who had dedicated and sacrificed their lives. We thank God for them and ask Him to grace all of us to realize that life without love and sacrifice is nothing. These heroes did know it very well and of-fered their lives as Jesus Christ did on Calvary for the humanity. "No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends." (Jn. 15:13). Thank you Lord Jesus for giving us the spirit of Love and making us to understand our potential to love you and one another. As I have said once in my previous message, sometimes prayer does not change the situa-tion, but it changes our attitude towards the situation and gives us hope which changes our entire life. And so believe that "God is the on-ly one who can make the Valley of Troubles, a Door of Hope" (Hosea 2:15). On this Memorial weekend let us also remem-ber all those who lost their lives with this vi-rus. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon them.
God bless you all and your family. Fr. K. J. Augustine
Come, Holy Spirit, Come!
And from your celestial home Shed a ray of light divine!
Come, Father of the poor! Come, source of all our store!
Come, within our bosoms shine.
You, of comforters the best; You, the soul’s most welcome guest;
Sweet refreshment here below;
In our labor, rest most sweet; Grateful coolness in the heat;
Solace in the midst of woe.
O most blessed Light divine, Shine within these hearts of thine,
And our inmost being fill!
Where you are not, we have naught Nothing good in deed or thought,
Nothing free from taint of ill.
Heal our wounds, out strength renew; On our dryness pour your dew; Wash the stains of guilt away;
Bend the stubborn heart and will; Melt the frozen, warm the chill’ Guide the steps that go astray.
On the faithful, who adore And confess you evermore
In your sev’nfold gift descend;
Give them virtue’s sure reward; Give them your salvation, Lord; Give them joys that never end.
Amen. Alleluia!
- What gift(s) of the Spirit have you received?
- What gift(s) of the Spirit do you need?
- What gifts does our parish need to help spread the Good News?
*Novena: a prayer said each day for nine days. The novena for Pentecost begins on Ascension Thursday, May 21, 2020. Before Jesus ascended he told the disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit to come with gifts.

Respecting Our First Responders “A Reflection Of Our Lord Within Us” by: Lorraine Petrucci, Respect Life Leader, St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Rocky Point, NY
With so many of our first responders, Police, EMS, nurses, doctors, fire departments put-ting their own lives at risk to help others during these unprecedented times, we are again in awe of their bravery courage and fortitude, as they put aside their own safety and their very lives to save others. We offer them our respect, and our thanks. We are also mindful of how we receive our gifts of strength. We respect the many gifts that God has given us, with one of the greatest gifts being the compassion to help our fellow man.
After all, what is it about these wonderful people that allows them to run into the fire and the danger disregarding their own welfare? Strength such as this surely comes from the Lord, and it brings to mind (John 15:13), “Greater love hath no man than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends”. Why is it that in a persons’ darkest moments, by the simple act of reaching out to help an-other, their own spirits are lifted? It is because Jesus lives inside each one of us, and when we look outside of ourselves to help another, we are feeling that glory of God, and it’s wonderful…Remember, (John 15:5) “I am the vine, you are the branches”, reach out and feel the glory that is the Lord!
Ironically, our Respect Life Committee at St. Anthony of Padua in Rocky Point was going to honor our first responders with a beautiful Mass and celebration this June. Postponing it due to the health crisis was unfortunate. But, now, I think how much more meaning will this Mass have, how much greater will this celebration be after our heroes have fought through this crisis to help keep us all safe. I know that Jesus is continually blessing us, and them in every possible way, and guiding the first responders with his wisdom and strength.
Let’s always remember to pray to St. Michael, and remember,

Weekly Reflection SEVENTH SUNDAY OF EASTER There is a simple, detailed intimacy in our reading from Acts today. Instead of just say-ing “the disciples returned to Jerusalem,” each one is listed by name, along with Mary, some other women, and some relatives. The absence of Judas is painfully obvious. In contemporary terms, we might think of this as Jesus’ “entourage” or “posse.” This was the community devoted to prayer. Psalm 27 is called a “womb to tomb” scripture, as it is commonly used for baptisms and funerals. How appropriate it is as we hear the next chapter in God’s plan. First Peter foreshad-ows the pain and suffering that these individ-uals will undergo for the sake of Christ as they continue to glorify God. This echoes the language of the Gospel, where Jesus speaks of glorifying God and himself being glorified as he prays for these followers who are now left in the world to carry out the message and the vision.
SAINT PHILIP NERI (1515-1595) May 26 In a shop near the Vatican, a group of Americans laughed as the shopkeeper showed off his fluent Eng-lish and latest souvenir, a key ring whose papal por-trait, when pressed, activated a recorded blessing. Through the shop window, two clerics scowled disap-proval. The shopkeeper grunted, “They’re a very somber order who’ve left the Church. I recognize them.” “By their long robes?” an American asked. “Many in Rome wear robes,” replied the shopkeeper. “It’s their long faces!” When Philip Neri arrived in sixteenth-century Rome, there was reason to be som-ber. Swiss Guards had been massacred on Saint Pe-ter’s steps defending the pope. Parts of Europe were abandoning the Church. But Philip resolved to be an “apostle of joy,” drawing especially the young to Christ—and frequent confession and Communion—by his sincere interest in their problems, prayerful ex-ample, and gentle humor. His “Oratory,” a movement as well as a place, provided recreation and devotion in a joyful atmosphere of companionship, service, and liturgy. Philip Neri challenges each of us to begin im-proving Church and world by changing ourselves with unfailing joy. —Peter Scagnelli, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
DEVOTED TO PRAYER Today, as we await Pentecost, we come to the end of the baptismal homily from Peter that we have heard over the past few weeks. This homily was written by a realist who knew the joy and the glory of a Resurrection faith, but also knew that the strength of that faith would be put to the test and tried in suffering. Earlier this year we heard Jesus preach, “Blessed are you when they insult you . . . because of me” (Matthew 5:11) and this is echoed today by Peter. These words are also formed in the image of Christ who prays to the Father in heaven today, a prayer that is placed in John’s Gospel right before Jesus endures his suffer-ing and death. Our awaiting the Spirit, await-ing our mission for Christ means that we are, most likely, awaiting some sort of trial and suffering. We don’t endure the same degree of persecution that Peter and John knew, but each of us has our faith put to the test eventu-ally. And it is for this reason that we, like Je-sus and like those faithful followers gathered in the upper room, devote ourselves to prayer. I REAVEALED YOUR NAME Transitions are not easy, and take a great deal of preparation. In the second half of today’s Gospel passage, Jesus earnestly prays for his followers, for all those who were mentioned in the reading from Acts. “They belonged to you, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word.” This bumbling band of mis-fits who originally said yes to Jesus’ call were ready. They started out as spiritual in-fants, as apprentices with entry level posi-tions, but now they were grown. They were the management. Jesus had taught them all he could. They were ready to take over, and to take his message to all the world. Jesus, the CEO, Jesus the Cosmic Christ, was ready to pass the baton. It was time for this next phase of ministry to “Go live.” “They are in the world, while I am coming to you.”
