Pondering Stewardship— Jesus, the perfect steward, gave thanks, just before He gave Him-self to us completely for our salvation. He offers us the chance to drink from His cup. In the Eucha-rist, we meet Christ personally and, if we listen to Him, we know what drinking from His cup means our own sacrifice – giving up some of our time, talent and treasure to do His work on earth.

A referral system is be-ing set up to connect students with their Catholic Campus ministry. All we require is the student's name and campus that they will be or are attend-ing. This will allow campus ministers to contact students at their respective campus. Please call Barb Hill at the parish office or email: [email protected] if you are interested in making the Newman Connection.

The Nativity of John the Baptist on June 24 comes three months after the cel-ebration on March 25 of the Annunciation, when the angel Ga-briel told Mary that her cousin Elizabeth was in her sixth month of pregnancy, and six months before the Christmas celebration of the birth of Jesus.
Christians have long interpreted the life of John the Baptist as a preparation for the coming of Je-sus Christ, and the circumstances of his birth, as recorded in the New Testament, are miraculous. The sole biblical account of the birth of John the Baptist comes from the Gospel of Luke. John’s parents, Zechariah – a Jewish priest – and Eliza-beth, were without children and both were beyond child-bearing age. During Zechariah's rotation to serve in the Temple in Jerusalem, he was chosen by lot to offer incense at the Golden Altar in the Holy Place. The Archangel Gabriel appeared to him and announced that he and his wife would give birth to a child, and that they should name him John, a name which was unfamiliar in Zecha-riah and Elizabeth's families. However, because Zechariah did not believe the message of Gabriel, he was rendered speechless until the time of John's birth. At that time, his relatives wanted to name the child after his father, and Zechariah wrote, "His name is John", whereupon he recov-ered his ability to speak. Following Zechariah's obedience to the command of God, he was given the gift of prophecy, and foretold the future minis-try of Jesus this prophecy forming the text of the Benedictus canticle.

ry Mikentinac Memorial Scholarship. Lindsey will attend Buffalo State College in the fall.

Send in your graduation and semester news to the parish office and we will include in the bulletin.
A Family Perspective It is interesting that we call the first person of the Trinity, Father. Our dads help us understand God as Father in the way they love, protect, teach, discipline, and spend time with us. What an awesome respon-sibility, to be the window through which children view God.
