HERE WE GO: I’m used to life coming at me fast, adapting to the chaos, making on the fly changes, and ultimately accomplish-ing what it is I set my mind to. It’s a skill that was bred into me with genetics, watch-ing my parents when I was growing up, and trial and error of my own adult life. People call it grit; I refer to it as the only option.

In the upcoming days I will be calling upon whatever it is to survive. I started school again last Monday, it’s a rigorous schedule that requires me to be in class or clinical six days a week. For those of you who seem to miss me at the store that’s the number of days I’m also here a week, leaving me just Sunday’s to catch up on housework and pay bills. We made the decision t his year to pull our chil-dren from attending school in person leaving me to juggle the education of four kids along with everything else. I’m exhausted from just writing it out let alone enacting everything until a break in December.

As if life wasn’t enough, I decided to up our move date into my grandfather’s home to this January because what’s one more thing. We have demoed walls, taken bathrooms down to nothing but holes in the floor, had garage sales to sell items that no one wanted, done enough yard work to start our own business, cleaned, hauled, and repeated. We still have so far to go but, I am without doubt that my grandfather would be pleased with the love we are showing his hard-fought home, the life we plan to breathe back into the walls. My children are immensely excited to grace the same kitchen of my youth, play in the back yard of my memories, and hang stock-ing from the same mantle I did for Santa to fill with goodies. In life I have come to realize that there is always a lesson, a reason that we

go through such trials or hardship.

The lesson I am learning now is to look around and lean on those that are with me on the journey. I am an independent person by nature, I don’t ask for help, ask anyone to carry my load. This part of my life though is teaching me that there are times when we have no other option. We have to shoulder whatever burden or obstacle we are fighting to overcome. Whether this compromise is something small like letting someone else do bath night or larger like hiring someone to do the yard work. The goal should be the fin-ish line, crossing it at any cost, succeeding in a fight that I very fortunately do not have to battle on my own. Not only am I surrounded by family, chosen and from my birthright, I have each and everyone of you. People who remind me that I’m on the right path, to not give up just yet, to keep pushing through. Thank you.
