Dear Parishioners, This week marks the beginning of Season Three of ARISE: TOGETHER IN CHRIST in our

parish and throughout the Diocese. We join with brothers and sisters in Christ throughout

Brooklyn and Queens to deepen in our faith, to explore the Scriptures and to put into action our Gospel

values through ARISE over the next six weeks. Thank you to our ARISE facilitators and Mr. Michael

McGovern, our ARISE coordinator, for preparing Season Three.

This season’s theme is “In the Footsteps of Christ” and the topics include “Called to Christ’s Mission

Today,” “Called to Bring Joy and Hope,” and many more.

Particularly in the aftermath of this past week’s human massacre in Las Vegas we struggle to make sense of

violence and hatred and how better to help each other. Maybe ARISE is one of many ways by which we can

grow in understanding and loving one another. It is the ARISE prayer that says in part:

“Gracious God and Father . . . create us anew in Jesus Christ your Son.

Liberate us from all that keeps us from you.

Heal us from every form of sin and violence.

Transform us to live your Word more profoundly.

Awaken us to the sacred, rebuild trust among us . . .

We believe you are doing something new,

calling us to arise together in Christ

to celebrate the fullness of life. Amen.”

Pray the complete ARISE prayer found in today’s bulletin as we begin Season Three in the parish this week.

Pray daily this same prayer for the respect and dignity we owe to each other.

Peace,

If anyone is still interested in taking part in ARISE, sign-up cards are in the Gathering Space. Complete the

card and return it to the Parish Office early this coming week. Otherwise feel free to attend one of the first

sessions by calling the Parish Office and ask where ARISE is meeting

to one of the priests or deacons after Mass today. We kindly invite you to come to the

your contributions to the church through regular use of the envelopes. We can also help

you with letters of recommendation for employment, school, etc. Your registration will

also help us with our parish census in knowing the number of Catholics in Floral Park and

surrounding areas. Thank you and welcome!

Our Lady of the Snows is

Announcing the 2017

PUBLIC SQUARE

ROSARY CRUSADE

In this historic year of the Fatima Centennial (1917-2017), the world is at a historic crossroad. God is more offended than ever as people ignore Our Lady’s maternal request to “stop offending God.” Yes, we must listen to Our Lady’s request and stop sinning if we hope to enjoy God’s blessings and to avert His wrath. He will hear us, if we pray through the intercession of His Blessed Mother. That’s why we’re doing the 2017 Public Square Rosary Crusade.

In The Secret of the Rosary, Saint Louis de Montfort said: “Public prayer is far more powerful than private prayer to appease the anger of God and call down His mercy, and Holy Mother Church, guided by the Holy Ghost, has always advocated public prayer in times of public tragedy and suffering.”
