SPECIAL NOTES!!!!YES - THERE IS CHOIR THIS COMING MONDAY!

Anytime a statutory holiday falls on a choir night we still practice.  Members are of, course welcome to opt out, and perhaps come to one of the other nights that week, if they wish

NO NUTS TUESDAYS!!! (repeat for those who missed it previously)

Our Tuesday Tenor who is seriously allergic to nuts (all kinds) is back with us. As in past seasons she strongly requests no one (in any section) bring anything to choir that contains any type or amount of nuts. Even the smell on someone’s breath can trigger a anaphylactic reaction drastic negative results.

Page 2:  · Web viewSubmissions & Queries Our Web Site Un-Subscribe here October 9, 2015 #29 COMMUNITY ISSUE OF THE GHC, HNC, SOUNDINGS & CCLT CHOIR COMMUNITY NEWSLETTER

Please keep this request firmly in mind and make our GHC Tuesday practices an absolutely nut free time zone!

GHC “CURRENT SINGERS ONLY” UPDATE

The various practice files for the Getting’ Higher Choir’s concert repertoire for this season will be posted in the (password protected) Current Singers Only section of our web site soon, along with this season’s Choir Contact List.

An email announcing those postings and giving the access codes will go out to everyone that I have registered for the current season as soon as they are posted.

If you think you should be registered with the GHC but don’t receive a copy of that email by the time this weekend is over then I don’t have you registered so please contact me at bill @ gettinhigherchoir.ca or 250-920-4160 (9 to 9 daily) as soon as possible during the coming week to correct the problem.

~ Bill

MY SCHEDULE

Now that the dust is settling on our registration period I will not be at choir every night. Instead I will be rotating through all the nights and my schedule for the next two weeks will be:

Tuesday Oct. 13Monday Oct. 19Thursday Oct.22

If you have a payment to hand in and I am not there my preference is for you to hang onto it to give me the next time we are both at choir. If for any reason that is inconvenient (ie you’ll be away for a while or ???) you can give it to either Gloria or Shivon.

If you have questions to ask me or information to pass on to me then, as always, feel free to contact me at bill @ gettinhigherchoir.ca or 250-920-4160 (9 to 9 daily)

~ Bill

EDITOR’S NOTES & REMINDERSRE-SUBMITTING ITEMS TO THE COMMUNITY ISSUE

If you wish to re-submit an item of yours that has appeared already in a previous Choir Community Issue please copy it from that issue and paste it into an email rather than pulling your original version from your files. Using the version that was already in the newsletter will retain any formatting changes I have made to it so that I don’t have to re-do them.

Once you have it in the email you can edit/update it as desired before you send it to me.

Technologically hesitant computer users please note:

If you want/need to upgrade your basic "Select, Copy, Cut & Paste" computer skills (Windows or Mac) just click on:

http://www.gettinhigherchoir.ca/community-info/misc/how-to/search-highlight-copy-paste.pdf

It’s easier than you think

If I have made any format changes to your submission please notice what they are and then try to incorporate them in your future submissions.

Sometimes the changes are simply for visual consistency or clarity but most often the reasons for the changes rest in the word limits, format standards and policies described on the “Using Our Newsletter” page of our web site at:

Submissions that don’t require me to make any changes save time in preparing the newsletter for distribution and are a gift that is always greatly appreciated.

TO CHOIR FRIENDS OF MARION ELLIOTT:

It is with great sadness that I announce that Monday Alto Marion Elliott, my wife and life-partner for 47 years, passed away on September 23, after a long courageous battle with both Parkinson's disease and ovarian cancer.

Marion and I very much enjoyed our 1 year of singing but Marion's illness prevented us from continuing.  I understand from Paul that the choir sang "Let It Be for Marion" a short while ago.  Thank you!

GHC RIDES WANTED ANY NIGHT TO/FROM GORDON HEAD

I’m a new GHC member living in the Kenmore & Tyndal area of Gordon Head. I’m a student and may need to bounce from night to night at times initially. Recently the BC government asked for submissions to be considered during a statutory review of the Financial Institutions Act and the Credit Union Incorporation Act. TELLING NEW STORIES FOR OUR TIMES (Oct 24)a workshop with Pauline Le Bel

We have become disenchanted and disempowered by the stories of the generals, the politicians, and the corporations. One of the most evolutionary acts in which we can engage is the telling of our own stories. No storytelling experience necessary. Have a look at Pauline’s amusing new story about bacteria. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJsyFevZOmg
