Due to the construction vehicles moving in and out of the Lot during the renovation of the former St. Brigid Convent - we ask when attending the 7AM Mass or Funeral Masses at St. Brigid Church - that you not enter the Parking Lot. This is only Monday through Friday for the next few months. If visiting the Parish Office - please park on East Broadway. Parking will be available on Weekends for Masses/Weddings/Funerals.

GRAND ANNUAL COLLECTION
October 2021 A special Grand Annual letter from Father Casey was mailed to all registered parishioners of Gate of Heaven Parish, St. Brigid Parish, and St. Augustine Chapel in the last week. Included is a pledge card to assist in making your annual gift. You may mail it back to the Parish Office or place it in the collection boxes at Mass on this weekend. Additional pledge cards and letters are available this weekend at the doors of the Church. While our weekly Offertory supports our day-to-day operations, the Grand Annual Collection allows us to continue capital improvements and on-going maintenance at the Parishes. This year our need is great, so we are asking you to consider a gift that would help us to meet the needs of each parish capital improvement. This could be done with monthly payments. We ask only that you give to the best of your ability. We truly appreciate any assistance you can give, understanding that some households face financial difficulties. UPDATE ON GRAND ANNUAL NEEDS Both Churches need immediate Masonry Repairs on the outer walls
St. Brigid Church - the wall behind the altar has major water penetration and there
is major leaks occurring and will require painting in addition to pointing on the outside. The un-used chimney will require major work and partial demolition.
Gate of Heaven Church - the outside wall in the upper and lower sacristy has major water penetration and masonry repairs are needed as well as painting.
Beneath these areas the foundation wall needs repairs also, as water is dripping into the lower Church.

K2C students have been practicing their
daily routines, reviewing letters, and practicing counting and sorting. They
enjoy science experiments, STEM
challenges, Literacy Centers, and dance breaks!
The students in 3A built Marshmallow Spaghetti
Towers as a team building activity on the first day of
school! They used communication and teamwork
to build their towers from the ground up.
The students in grade 3 participated in the school
Mass, on Sept. 16, 2021. They did a wonderful job with the readings at this Mass! Father Casey, the Pastor, and Father Boyle, the Parochial Vicar, where
the celebrants at this Mass.
Mr. Espinal, the Music Teacher is introducing the
ukulele as a perfect instrument if you are
interested in the guitar because the techniques are easily transferable.

Interested in Joining the Catholic Church? Or for those baptized Catholics who have

are seeking full initiation into the life of the Catholic Church, or have a family member or friend who has
expressed interest in being welcomed into the Church, now is the time to consider the
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) The RCIA Program for our parishes will begin in
November. This program will run through Easter, and prepare those who wish to enter into full communion
with the Roman Catholic Church. Eligible adults include:
1.Those who have not been baptized; or 2. those who have been baptized in other
Christian traditions; or 3. those who were baptized Catholic, but never received Confirmation and Eucharist. If you or
someone you know has questions or is interested, please email our coordinator Chance Hebert at

Volunteers needed to teach Confirmation!
This year, St. Brigid and Gate of Heaven invites young adults to consider answering such a call by volunteering
as Confirmation teaching assistants. Starting this Fall, 4:15PM-5:45PM on Sunday evenings throughout the school year and followed by 6 PM Mass at St. Brigid’s
Church. Place: Cushing Hall Responsibilities: Lead small group discussions and activities. If interested, please

Annual Mass for the Deceased - November 6-7 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCMENT
Our Annual Mass for the deceased will be held this year on the weekend of November 6th and 7th. Due to the Pandemic last year - we were unable to have this Annual Mass. This year we will pray for all those deceased whose Funeral Masses were celebrated at our Parishes for the last 2 years - November 1, 2019 through October 15, 2021.
Due to the pandemic and the closure of our Parish Office and Church - there may have been some names we missed along the way. We would like to pray for them at these Masses. If you loved ones name is not listed below and whose Funeral Mass was celebrated at our Church, or there was a graveside service with one of our Parish Priests during the Church closure - please contact us at the Parish Office - no later than October 20th.

Church Weekly Envelopes If you would like Church Envelopes for our weekly Offertory please call the Parish Office to have them mailed directly to your home each month. If you attend any of our three Churches - you may drop envelopes in the
collection basket -- they are directed each week to the Parish you chose. If one week you go to St. Brigid and the next to Gate of Heaven - the offertory envelope will always go to the Parish print-ed on the envelope.
Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers Needed
We are still in need of Lectors and Eucharistic Minsters for our
Weekend Masses. If you are interested, please call the
Parish Office (268-3344) and speak to Elaine Connolly.
We are very flexible on schedules. Training available.
The Weeding & Garden Club Kudos to the three senior ladies who have spent countless hours (actually 59 and count-ing) weeding the landscape at Gate of Heaven
Church grounds and the young man and his two helpers at St. Brigid Church grounds. To become a member of this “exclusive” club,
call Elaine at the Parish Office on Tuesdays or Thursdays at 617-268-3344.
We also need help at Christmas and Easter time to help keep the beautiful plants on that decorate our altars fresh and lively!
Southie Neighborhood Prayer Meetings Join friends, neighbors, city officials, & clergy to pray for the well-being of South Boston and it’s residents. This will be an ecumenical
neighborhood prayer service held on the LAST Monday of each month at designated places in and around South Boston from
5:30PM to 6:15PM.
