ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY (This is the second in a series of ar"cles explaining what St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) does; how we help the needy; and how you might be able to aid our cause.)

DIFFERENT GIFTS AND SERVICES

“There are different kinds of Gi#s, but the same spirit. There are different kinds of Service but the same Lord. There are different Workings but the same God works all of them in all men. 1 Corinthian 12:4-6 Here at Sacred Heart our St. Vincent de Paul Conference has been ac"ve in providing a safe net for people in desperate need of financial assistance. We aid with rent, u"li"es, clothing, furniture, and household goods. Those needing help can call 208-331-2208 to discuss their needs with the Home Visit Team. A caring woman once said she felt it was sinful to keep unwanted clothes in your closet un"l they were out of style. Why not give them to a worthy cause? Fortunately, people in our area can donate clothing, furniture, and household goods to our Thri% Stores. Proceeds from our stores go to support St. Vincent de Paul clients. The Thri% Stores are also looking for volunteers to sort, price, rack and help customers. We are fortunate to have 5 Food Pantries and 1 Mobile Pantry here in Southwest Idaho. During the Covid-19 pandemic we have provided a no-contact drive through service for those needing food for the family. Volunteers are needed to help with sor"ng, stocking, distribu"ng, and picking up food items from suppliers. St. Vincent de Paul provides a Reentry Program for people who have been incarcerated and now are ready to reenter community life. They provide services such as transporta"on, clothing, employment assistance, and addi"onal needs assessment to prevent homelessness. We are looking for volunteers to assist these individuals. For more informa"on to volunteer, to donate, and to provide financial assistance for our Home Visits, Thri% Stores, or Food Panty please call Mike Gallagher at 208-794-1223.
