Today’s Gospel is the familiar story of the Annunciation of the Angel Gabriel to Mary. Imagine this gospel scene and focus on the conversation between Mary and the Angel. “The Lord is with you.” “Do not be afraid.” “Nothing is impossible for God.” “Let it be done to me according to your word.” Mary trusted that God was with her and that she had nothing to fear. With all the un-certainties, questions and challenges of this past year, how have you, like Mary been able to trust that God was with you? Take a few minutes each day to pray the “Hail Mary” asking for Mary’s help to strengthen your trust in God.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas, este año, debido al Coronavirus, no vamos a poder reunirnos y celebrar las posadas juntos. Las posadas se celebran con niños, corriendo, cantando, co-miendo, rompiendo piñatas… y esto no va a ser posible este año. Por esto, queremos animar-les a celebrar las posadas en su casa, con su familia. QUE SON LAS POSADAS DE NAVIDAD Las posadas son un medio para preparar con alegría y oración nuestro corazón para la venida de Jesús, y para re-cordar y vivir los momentos que pasaron José y María antes del Nacimiento del Hijo de Dios. Su origen se remonta a los tiempos de la conquista cuando los misioneros españoles llegaron a México, Centro y Sud América a finales del siglo XVI. Aprovecharon las costumbres religiosas de los nativos para inculcar el espíritu evangélico y dieran a sus festividades un sentido cristiano. Los misioneros convocaban al pueblo al atrio de las iglesias y conventos y ahí rezaban una novena acompañada de cantos y representaciones basadas en el Evangelio, como recordatorio de la espera del Niño y del peregrinar de José y María de Nazaret a Belén buscando un sitio donde quedarse a que na-ciera el niño Jesús. Las posadas, con el tiempo, se comenzaron a llevar a cabo en barrios y en casas, pasando a la vida familiar durante 9 días, en referencia a los 9 meses de embarazo de la Virgen María. COMO HACERLAS EN LA CASA La familia necesita preparar un pequeño pesebre, con imágenes de la Virgen y de San José. Al comienzo, se divide la familia en dos grupos: uno entra a la casa y representa al posadero; el otro grupo permanece fuera de la casa representando a San José y la Virgen. Entre ambos grupos cantan villancicos (el canto de las posadas) donde unos piden posada, mientras otros la niegan; al cabo de unos cuantos versos los posaderos son convencidos de dar po-sada y dejan entrar a los peregrinos. Después de ser recibidos los invitados en la casa, se reza el rosario y se puede dar una pequeña catequesis/explicación sobre las imágenes del pesebre. La parte final de la posada es una fiesta en familia en la que se ofrecen comidas tradicionales. ¡INVITA UN SACERDOTE A CELEBRAR EN TU CASA!Es importante que el Coronavirus no nos robes la alegría de la navidad de Jesucristo. Aunque no nos podemos re-unir en la iglesia todos juntos, les animamos a reunirse en su casa. ¡También, el Padre Andrea y el Padre Pablo es-tán disponibles para invitaciones! ¡Nos gustaría visitar sus casas y ayudarles con la novena! ¡Llame la oficina Parro-quial para dejarnos la invitación!

CHILDREN’S LETTER TO THE THREE MAGI

Children 0-10 years are invited to write a letter to the Three Magi. Please take the letter and envelope and bring it back over the next few weeks (deadline: Sunday, December 27) because we have received a telegram from their Majesties The Three Wise Men who wish to bring you something. Children: ask important things for your family (peace, love, faith, to obey parents, that the Lord help the poor, etc) and per-haps at the end you can add: 'And if your Majesties are able to, can you please to bring me a little gift?' Once the letter is fin-ished please put it in the box designated for this purpose at the back of the Church. If parents have any questions and wish to contact one of the pages of the Magi, please call the parish offices at 781-599-7040.

CARTA A LOS REYES MAGOS Invitamos a los niños de 0-10 años a tomar una carta para los Reyes Magos con un sobre y traerla durante las próximas semanas (fecha límite: hoy, Domingo 27 de Diciembre) pues hemos recibido un telegrama de Sus Majestades los Reyes Magos que desean traerle algo.Niños: pidan cosas importantes para su familia (la paz, el amor, la fe, poder obedecer a los papás, que el Señor ayu-de a los pobres, etc) y quizás al final pueden añadir: “Y si sus Majestades pueden, les pido -si puede ser- que me traigan un regalito” Y una vez hecha la carta por favor pónganla en la caja designada para ello en la parte de atrás de la Iglesia.
