Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) is a leading, privately owned, contracting group that specializes in the engineering and fabrication of large and complex structures, mainly for the offshore oil & gas and other energy-related industries.

We have been active in the offshore oil & gas industry ever since oil and gas were discovered in the North Sea in the early 1960s. The hundreds of offshore structures built by HFG include platforms, jackets and modules for leading oil & gas companies. We have also delivered onshore modules for refineries, (petro)chemical plants and power stations.

Today, we enjoy a reputation for fabrication-driven engineering and integrated project management services, which are fundamental for a project’s success. Our experience and proven track record give our clients the confidence that projects will be expertly performed and that we deliver on our promises. We are keen to develop optimal solutions that meet our clients’ needs and demands. Our services include conceptual design, front-end engineering, detailed fabrication-focused design, procurement, construction and delivery.

HFG’s inhouse engineering firm HFG Engineering designs offshore facilities. By integrating the engineering process into practical fabrication designs, HFG is able to provide its clients with innovative, cost-effective and high-quality engineering and fabrication solutions and strong EPC(I) management capabilities.

The fabrication locations of HFG are equipped with large (pre)fabrication and assembly halls for indoor construction. These halls are among Europe’s largest and are equipped to handle several large projects simultaneously. The fabrication sites are located in the Netherlands (Zwijndrecht and Vlissingen) and in the United Kingdom (Hartlepool). In Poland, a workshop facility services smaller fabrication projects and provides HFG’s fabrication locations and third parties with qualified staff for construction work.

HFG Engineering (HFGE) is specialized in the design of offshore facilities, with an emphasis on jackets, and offers a wide range of engineering services for clients in the oil & gas and energy-related industries.

We are at our best in the demanding waters of the North Sea, where high pressures, low ambient temperatures and severe metocean conditions pose unique challenges.

HFG Engineering is known for its fabrication-driven engineering and efficient designs. We integrate the engineering process with practical fabrication design, making it cost and time efficient.

By focusing on constructability, we reduce the safety risks associated with fabrication. This is made possible by working with experts who have a clear understanding of the fabrication process.

We offer fit-for-purpose engineering and design capabilities and work together with HFG’s fabrication locations to support our clients’ objectives with innovative concepts and designs that emphasis ease of installation and operation.

Heerema Fabrication Group is widely recognized for managing fabrication-driven engineering based on practical designs and integrated project management services. This results in reduced safety risks and lower costs and safeguards the production schedule.

Oil & Gas Industry The majority of the platforms on the Dutch Continental Shelf, as well as many platforms on the Norwegian and UK Continental Shelf, have been fabricated by HFG.

The hundreds of offshore structures built by HFG include platforms, jackets, modules and subsea structures for leading oil & gas and energy companies. It has also delivered onshore modules for refineries, (petro)chemical plants and gas receiving terminals. These pre-assembled units (PAU) and pre-assembled pipe racks (PAR) are built and tested at the HFG fabrication yard, transported to site and erected locally to form a complete plant.

Offshore wind energy marketHFG is utilizing its experience in the oil & gas industry in the offshore wind energy market. Together with HFG Engineering, we successfully completed offshore substations and HVDC converter platform projects for the largest wind farm developments in the North Sea. HFG is able to execute complete offshore wind energy projects from engineering and procurement, to construction, installation (EPCI) and project management.

All our companies operate an integrated management system that complies with ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management Systems), ISO 14001:2004 (Environmental Management Systems), OHSAS 18001:2007 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems), EN 1090-1:2009 (Execution of Steel Structures and Aluminium Structures) and ISO 3834-2:2005 (Quality Requirements for Welding of Metallic Materials) standards.

In addition, together with DNV we have developed the unique audit protocol CHEQSERT (Combined Heerema Environmental Quality Safety Evaluation Rating Tool). This system covers a framework of controls that drive our QSHE (Quality, Safety, Health and Environment) performance to exceed industry standards.

The work we do for our clients involves fabrication-driven engineering, tough cost and time challenges and close co-operation between a wide range of disciplines. We believe that high-quality workmanship and strong project management is the one and only way to successfully balance these demands.

Our strength is the highly skilled and experienced workforce and project managers at HFG’s fabrication facilities. They are able to coordinate projects from conception to commissioning and manage subcontractors and equipment deliveries. Over the years we have embraced all aspects of EPC(I) projects, including initial conception, front-end engineering, detailed fabrication design, procurement, construction, offshore hook-up and commissioning.
