Maryland Department of Health has recently identified a laboratory- confirmed measles infection in a Maryland resident. Rapid identification of suspected measles is key to preventing further exposures. In healthcare settings, strict airborne precautions are to be followed and all healthcare staff entering the room should use respiratory protection. If you have any symptoms or have had exposures concerning measles you are encouraged to call before presenting to a healthcare facility or the Collington Outpatient Clinic.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Ombudsman group’s presentation of “Who’s Who in Health Services” on April 18th. As a reminder, contact information for all Health Services team members is listed in the Telephone Directory.

More updates to come on the partnership with Medstar’s Center for Successful Aging as we continue to work through the contract, IT set up and onboarding plans. As a reminder, the two physicians who will be in the clinic during the first phase will be Dr. George Hennawi and Dr. Rezanne Khalil.

FROM MARKETING AND SALES, Lindsey Hamilton:

There will be ample time to walk around and talk the other resources as well. Please have your friends R.S.V.P. to Terri in marketing.

Spring Parade of Homes is coming up May 9th from 11am-2pm. We have decided to showcase apartments and some cottages close to the main clocktower. If you would like to open your home please let us know in Marketing.

Now is a good time to inquiry with Lindsey Hamilton about downsizing to a smaller floorplan if you are interested in doing so.

Happenings

Last week the Joint Leadership Team (Senior management and your elected RA officials) met. While still working on improving commu-nication, we are now concentrating on aligning resident and man-agement operational priorities. Operating Chairs along with Justin Reaves and Nadine Hathaway are collaborating in this effort.

The Strategic Planning Committee met last Friday. The Health Ser-vice Alliance reported on the Fitness and Creighton Center reposi-tioning. Justin Reaves gave insight into the financial aspects. More work will be done in this area as well as master planning for the en-tire community.

The Culture and Engagement Alliance has kicked off and is begin-ning to look at employee/resident/Board of Directors engagement and communication. Bud Gardiner and Suku Powers are leading this team.

The Strategic Planning Brochure that was seen at the Council meet-ing is now available in the RA office near the copy machine. Help yourself and have a glimpse into Collington’s future.

The Collington Website is now indexed thanks to Bill Lively. The search function is now more powerful than ever. Try it out at collingtonresidents.org. Offer your suggestions to Julia Freeman, Marian Fuchs, Dave Montgomery or Lois Brown.

Looking Ahead:

On Wednesday there will be a Housing Leadership Workshop. Keep an eye out for more initiatives from your Housing Leaders.

On Thursday you have an opportunity to dine with a Collington Boa-Director of the Board. If interested call Karen at X5023. And don’t forget to congratulate her on 25 years of service to Collington!

Reminders:

All RA business copying must now be done on the copier in the RA office. The door is always unlocked. If you need assistance ask any of your officers or call 2214 for an appointment. The copying of personal documents can still occur at the clocktower and of course your account will be charged.
