MYSTERY BOOK DISCUSSION CLUB, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 4PM – BOARD ROOM: The author we will discuss is Liliane Jackson Braun. PARKINSON’S AND HOSPITALIZATION LECTURE, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 6:30PM – AUDITORIUM: Parkinson’s and Hospitalization: A free webcast on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 in Collington’s Auditorium co-sponsored by Collington and the Parkinson Foundation of the National Capital Area. The lecture via webcast is scheduled to run from 6:30 pm to 8 pm. Getting hospitalized is often stressful for everyone, but it is particularly so for those with Parkinson’s disease (PD). There are specific issues that frequently arise when someone with PD is hospitalized. These include problems with getting one’s Parkinson’s medications on time, as well as avoiding various medications and anesthesia that are contraindicated for people with PD. In addition, there are interactions between other medical conditions and Parkinson’s which must be considered. It is important for persons with PD to have a “hospitalization plan” set up ahead of time, particularly because hospitalization cannot always be anticipated. Dr. Stephen Grill, who co-founded the Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Center of Maryland, is the speaker. Attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions. The webcast is being shown at 30 other locations in 6 states. Those who preregistered online at www.pfnca.org and arrive early will be served a light dinner at 6 pm. Seating is limited, especially for the dinner. Let Joan Zorza (x5082 or email [email protected]) know if you are coming after the dinner for the webcast so we can have enough seats.
