Healthy Kids Day!

This year on April 17th the McBurney YMCA along with 1,700 other YMCAs across the country will be celebrating Healthy Kids Day offering an array of fun and healthy activities for families. The theme this year is Put Play in Your Day. To focus on that theme, Y staff are orga-nizing a range of exciting and challenging obstacle courses for families that promises to be loads of fun!

We will also have several vendors from the local commu-nity who will be working the event to support McBurney Ys effort to build healthy families and healthy communities. Join us Saturday, April 17th at PS 41 located at 116 West 11th Street from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. Don’t miss out. New Little Ballerinas Party

Need to plan a birthday party soon? SIgn up for our new Ballet Birthday Parties available on Sundays from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Part of our Plus Party Packages, the Dance Party is a great option for all the little ballerinas in your life.

Dash explores the influence of Shake-speare on American musical theater through analyses of five important productions from 1938 through 1971- The Boys from Syracuse (Comedy of Errors), Kiss me Kate (Taming of the Shrew), West Side Story (Romeo and Juliet),Your Own thing (Twelfth Night) and Two Gentleman of Verona.

Irene G. Dash is author of Women’s Worlds in Shakespeare’s Play, which won a Choice Best Academic Book Award and, Wooing, Wedding,

and Power: Women in Shakespeare’s Plays. Her most recent published work appears in the Folger Shakespeare Library’s edited volume Shakespeare in American Life. She taught English and Shakespeare for thirty years at Hunter College,CUNY.
