Key Clubbers how you feeling?! The
stress from internal examinations is over! I
trust that we all did well and we are
starting preparations for the upcoming
external examinations. This may be a
stressful time, but as our school’s motto
says, “With God as Guide, Seek the Best.”
On another note, as the Key Club year draws to an end it is
time to elect our 2013-1014 executive board. To ensure the
continuation of the best club at Ardenne High, I implore that you all
nominate competent individuals, who all have that love for Key
Club as our current executive board possesses. It is with this that
the Key Club spirit is sure to carry on.
Finally, District Convention is around the corner…Woohoo!
In order to have a fulfilling Key Club experience, I suggest that
each Key Clubber should attend DCON at least once throughout
their years in Key Club. It is here that not only will you be educated
on what it means to be a Key Clubber through the various
workshops, but you will develop strong friendships with Key
Clubbers from all over the country all while having loads of fun. So
get your DCON forms signed up and male your payments ASAP!
You definitely do not want to miss out on this worthwhile
experience.
Yours in Caring and Service,
Romario Perry (President)
With the ELIMINATE Project, Kiwanis International and
UNICEF have joined forces to eliminate Maternal and
Neonatal Tetanus(MNT) – a deadly disease that steals the
lives of nearly 60,000 innocent babies and a significant
number of mothers each year. Tiny newborns suffer repeated,
painful convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and
touch. In eliminating this disease, the project will reach the
poorest, most neglected mothers and babies with additional
lifesaving health care. The end of this disease means the
beginning of better health for so many families.
As a team, we decided that we needed to do our part in the
eradication of this disease from the world. In an effort to raise
funds for the cause, we started with the purchasing of buttons
that read "Ask Me About Eliminate" which were to be worn
by Key Clubbers, who were knowledgeable of the
ELIMINATE Project, in an aid to bring awareness to this
campaign to the rest of the school. Donation sheets were then
circulated throughout the school so that we could raise
enough funds to help support the cause.
For the upcoming year, we would like to continue this
endeavour as the ELIMINATE Project is always in need of
help and we're always willing to assist where we can. We
therefore urge you all to ask your parents, friends, even
strangers for donations, so we can do our part in ridding the
world of Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus.
DO YOUR PART; SAVE A LIFE!
DONATE TO THE ELIMINATE PROJECT!

AIM
To promote the building of
healthy, sturdy bodies from
an early age.
Usually our youth tend to ignore the need for
them to keep their bodies healthy. Therefore,
on March 2, 2013, the members of the AHS
Key Club went to the grounds of the HWT
Primary School to engage in our Health &
Wellness Day. This day consisted of 4 hours of
play through a variety of sporting activities.
These included: football, volleyball, track and
field and netball. After all these hours of
exercise, though we were tired, we left feeling
really refreshed.

Vice President Kevonnie Whyte Q: Why did you join Key Club?
KW: Well, people were always saying I
"looked like a key club person", lol. After
I left the Student's Council I was looking
for something else to fill my time... and
the existing key club members such as
Romario Perry and Romaine Mowatt gave
me the extra push. It's always a plus to be
in a club that has meaning and I enjoy the
service aspect of it. :)
Q: How has Key Club changed your life?
KW: It has definitely allowed me to meet a lot more people from
different schools through inter clubbing and projects. Additionally, it has
taught me the skills of organizing and executing projects. Key club has
also taught me how to just have fun :)
Q: How have you contributed to the development of the club in your
capacity as Vice President?
KW: As Vice president, it has been a pleasure working with President
Romario Perry and Secretary Simone Johnally. I'm sort of just a go
between for both of them. I believe I have contributed mainly in the
organization of projects, meetings and idea's etc. And also I act as a good
go-between for the club and administration.
Q: What is your Philosophy?
KW: My philosophy is found on my computer screen saver lol.. It’s "Do
More". I seek to improve on and do more today that what I did
yesterday.
In this issue we acknowledge two of our
executive board members who have continued
to show exemplary leadership qualities in Key
Club affairs.

Secretary Simone Johnally Q: How has Key Club
changed your life since
you’ve joined?
SJ: I could never speak
in front of a crowd
before because I was
so shy. Now, it’s one
of my favourite things
to do. I also have
friends from all over
the country and I’m so
much more involved in
school and community
activities.
Q: What made you decide
to join Key Club?
SJ: In Grade 9 I decided
it was time for me to start
breaking out of my shell.
Key Club was all the rave
and had a wholehearted
purposed that resonated
with me. My friends and I
tried it out and it was
exciting to help others
and have fun at the same
time.
Q: How have you assisted in the development of the club
during your capacity as secretary?
SJ: I have ensured the early submission of all monthly
reports, and that they are done properly. I have also
helped to facilitate the approval of projects and events by
working alongside various committees, executive board
members and school administrators.
Q: What is your philosophy?
SJ: “The best day to take that first step toward what you
want is today.” Procrastination is just an excuse not to
succeed, so begin to strive for your goals ASAP.
