fundraiser will go to update the early childhood playground and provide age-appropriate playscapes for our 2 and 3 year old classes.

If you haven’t been there yet, Papa Murphy’s is located in the strip mall in front of WalMart (with Hibbett’s and Game Stop). You order a pizza from them, dressed however you want, and then take it home, cook it, and have an easy dinner at home with no mess! (Note, you cook the pizza at home! There is no place to eat there.) You can also take the pizza home and freeze it for later use.

COLLECTING AUCTION ITEMS! If you haven’t brought in your items yet for the school auction, please drop them by the school office as soon as possible! If you aren’t able to get your project in to the office yet, send a description of the item to the office and we can at least go ahead and list it in the booklet. Thanks!

IT’S AUCTION TIME! We haven’t sold 100 tickets for the auction dinner yet; to get some, stop by the school office or return the form (attached) to your classroom.

The annual FLS PTL Fundraising Auction will be held April 30; Doors open/silent auction

bidding begins at 5:30, Dinner at 6:00, and live auction at 7:00. The catered meal (catering provided

by Klein’s Catering) includes your choice of country smoked ham or boneless chicken breast with sides

of baked potato salad and green beans; cherry cobbler will be served for dessert. Get your tickets in

the office now; they are $10 each.

GYM WALL IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT. Tired of seeing the old blue wall tile in the gym? A project is being started to improve the aesthetics of our gym walls. We are open to any ideas including painting, removing the blue tiles, putting up Cardinal-themed wall mats, changing the colors to Cardinal colors (red, black, white), changing the tile on the outside of the gym in the entrance way, etc. All of these ideas have different costs associated with them depending on which options are selected. If you feel called to make a donation to this project, please contact the school office. Your donation would be tax deductible. For questions or suggestions, contact Principal Birnbaum, Bruce Fuller (Property Chairman), or Tim Burden (School Board President).

GYM RESTROOM REMODEL - We are beginning the fundraising process to remodel the School gym restrooms. We would like to convert the two small restrooms on the South into one large girl’s restroom and the other two on the North to Boys only. The expected cost is $125,000. $7,500 has been given and will be matched by Phillips 66. If you, or a person or business you know could contribute, we would greatly appreciate it. (These are tax-deductible gifts.)

CAMPBELL’S SOUP LABELS FOR EDUCATION PROGRAM IS ENDING…We have until the end of this school year to finish collecting labels and get them sent in before the program is discontinued. If you have any Labels for Education, please cut off the rectangle like the picture to the right, and send it to school with your student. We can use these labels to purchase p.e./recess/classroom supplies for our school!

PRINCIPAL - Mr. Birnbaum: Short & Sweet - Another quote from marriage sermons "Repeat after me: 'You were right. I was wrong, and I admit it. I'm sorry. Will you forgive me?' A few doses of that each day works wonders!"

Thank you to those who have contributed letters or financially for Mrs. Goll's retirement gifts. Also THANKS to Casey, Michelle, Room Mothers, and everyone who has been working on items for the Auction this Saturday. We have a few $10 meal tickets left so get them early.

PRE-SCHOOL – Mrs. Herard: Thank you for all the sweet gifts and notes. It is such a blessing to be with wonderful students and families every day! Wow! Please return the form and $5 by next Thursday, May 5. We will have show and tell on Friday. Our track meet is next Friday, May 6. I hope you are making plans to join us on this fun day. Also, I could use a few more parent helpers. We are getting to end of the school year but please make sure that you are still reading with your child and working on spelling words. Happy birthday to Noah on Friday!

SECOND GRADE – Mrs. Powell: We're flying through this week! Mrs. Patterson has been teaching and is doing a great job. We are learning a great deal from her. FIFTH GRADE - Mrs. Schatte: I look forward to seeing everyone at the auction Saturday evening. It is always a lot of fun, and we have an awesome project up for grabs. VOCAL CLUB: Come to our vocal club! We meet every Wednesday after school until 4:30 p.m. Anyone (boys or girls) in middle school who wants to join is welcome; please notify Jayna Johnson or Gabby Costello.

8th GRADE FLS AUCTION BASKET: The 8th Grade will be auctioning off a “Made in Oklahoma” Basket at this years’ PTL Auction on April 30. Each 8th grade student should bring a “Made in Oklahoma” item to contribute to the basket to Mr. Covert by Thursday, April 21. The item can be purchased or made by you or someone you know (cash donations are welcome, also). If you have questions, please contact Martha Long at 580-716-0686.

Mrs. Goll: Thank you so much for all of the neat treats for teacher appreciation week! I’ll enjoy each of them. My mom used to say the best gift we could give her was just being good to each other (she had 8 children). That’s my favorite gift, too; I love it when I see the students going out of their way to help and befriend one another. Wasn’t the musical a great treat? Such fine actors and singers and dancers! Thanks, Mrs. Hanson, for using your great director skills to produce a fine program with a timely message. And thanks to the behind the scenes workers who dealt with the sound; that’s a tricky job and they did great. We enjoyed the NED yo-yo show. If we take Ned’s advice and Never give up, Encourage others, and Do our best, I know we’ll end the year on top!

Mrs. Harbeson: I hope you all are well as I'm writing this on Tuesday afternoon before the storm comes in. All of the kids and I have prayed for God's protection today (Tuesday). With just 3½ weeks left of school, things are quickly coming to an end. On Thursday, the 8th graders, a few parents, and I will be traveling to Stillwater for our annual college visit. I know we'll have a great time, and I truly appreciate all those parents who are accompanying us. We couldn't do things like this without you! College reports for everyone are due Monday, May 9, by the end of the school day. The track meet is set for Friday, May 6. This will be a fun day for everyone! Please plan on buying your snacks and lunch at the concession stand as this is a fund-raiser for the 7th graders who are traveling to Washington D.C. next year. Graduation will be Wednesday, May 18, and our last day of school is Friday, May 20. Keep on working...it will be summer break before we know it! Blessings to you all on the rest of your week!

Mrs. Hanson: I am so pleased and proud with how the musical turned out! It was an awesome performance! Thanks to all the actors who worked so hard, to all the singers who sang beautifully, and to the audience who came and supported!

I also wanted to thank you for the thoughtful and awesome teacher appreciation gifts. I know I appreciate each and every one of you!

This week: I still need gift cards from a few 7th graders. 8th grade will have a test Friday. Other grades will have vocab quiz this Friday. Cheer parent meeting has been moved to Thursday due to the weather. Mr. Covert: It’s hard to believe that April is almost over! I hope that everyone is doing well as we start

to work our way through these last few weeks! The challenge in classes now is making sure we get through the things we absolutely need to. In 8th

grade, that means we’re going to wrap up World War I this week. We’ll take a quick look at the 1920s, the Great Depression and its causes, and then move into World War II. In 7th grade, we’re working our way through South Asia, and should wrap up the entire Asian continent by the end of the year. 6th grade is working through the Renaissance and Reformation, looking at how the new ideas from that period still influence us, 500 years later.

7th grade parents, just a reminder: I need your DC info sheets by the end of the school year so I can get a flight list and room list made up, as well as requests submitted for the White House, Capitol, and Pentagon. Please send them to school with your students or bring them directly to me. Thank you!

I pray that God continues to bless our school and all the families that make it up as we move towards the end of another school year!
