Our Mission:The Mission of every Catholic Parish was given it by Jesus Christ when he said to the eleven “All power in heaven and earth has beengiven to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the HolySpirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28: 26-30) Our mission is to spread the Gospel!
"Your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly father." These words of Jesus from today's Gospel passage give us a good reason to focus on a very wonderful thing that has happened in OLA parish during the last few months. A large contingent of people (whom I see as modern day Mother Teresas) have been caring for up to 23 homeless people every Wednesday night into Thursday morning. These persons are brought by van or walk in to the auditorium where they are greeted with a hot meal, a warm place to sleep, and given breakfast and "lunch to go". This could not happen without many people giving of their time and some sleep. It also involves many who cook and serve meals, and some who search out warm clothes. All of these people are surely the "salt of the earth". There are currently two other Church groups in the Town of Babylon who are assisting with this project. Let us pray that the number will increase to seven, so that these homeless folks will have comfort each night of the week. Here in our parish there are many others who daily assist those in need. Some can be seen struggling with large donations of food on their way to Sunday Mass. Others staff the Outreach building to assist those who come for help. To these and all not here mentioned for lack of space, remember "You are the light of the world".

Rules and Regulations
Abstinence from Meat:All Catholics who have reached their 14th birthdayare bound to abstain entirely from meat on AshWednesday and all the Fridays of Lent includingGood Friday. There is no upper age limit for therequirement of abstinence.
FastingAll Catholics between the ages of 18 and 59 arebound to observe the law of fast on Ash Wednesdayand Good Friday. This means limiting oneself to asingle full meal and two smaller meals and avoidingfood between meals. We are encouraged also tovoluntarily fast other days during Lent. Sundaysand Feast Days are not days of fast and abstinence(Feast days include St. Joseph, March 19th andAnnunciation of the Lord)Dispensations from Abstinence and Fasting: We arenot to consider ourselves lightly excused from thelaws of Fast and Abstinence. However, with a goodreason, one may excuse oneself but substituteanother penitential practice to compensate.
Easter DutyAll Catholics who have received First Communionare required to receive Communion at least onceduring the Easter Season which includes the timebetween Ash Wednesday and Trinity Sunday.Catholics are also required to go to confession(Sacrament of Penance) at least once a year. IfConfession is required before receiving Communionthen that would be required during the EasterSeason. One must be absolved from all mortal sinsin order to receive the Ecuharist worthily.

Potrzebujemy więcej wolontariuszy do podawaniaśniadania oraz do pomocy przy składaniu łóżek wczwartkowe poranki w godz: 5:30-7:30. Osoby,które mogłyby pomóc, proszone są o przybycie dodrzwi wejściowych audytorium.
Prosimy o donacje w postaci nowej bielizny męskiej(briefs - underwear - wszystkie rozmiary), męskich butówroboczych (rozmiar 14) i sportowych (sneakers - roz-miary: 8½, 9), męskich kurtek (coats, jackets - rozmiary:2X, 3X), bielizny damskiej (underwear - rozmiary: 5-8)oraz legginsów ( rozmiar Queen). Prosimy również o po-jedyncze rolki papieru toaletowego.
