1. What is your favorite song/movie? A: My favorite song is “In Your Eyes” and my favorite movie is “Coming to America.”

2. What are your plans of making 2015/2016 a great year? A: safety, students to be happy, learn things ,have fun, and be able to make decisions for this school.

4. What is your favorite part of being Vice Principal? A: I get to meet different students.

5. Did you play any sports when you were little? A: I didn't play sports but I did dance.. 6. What school were you at before? What did you do there? A: I was at Temple Intermittent at Rosemead and I taught ELD.

7. What do you do in your free time? A: I hike, run, play with my dog, concerts, and hang out with my husband and family. 8. If you were a teacher what subject would you teach? A: I would teach English.

9. What college did you attend ? A: I attended three: University of Arizona, UCLA, and CSU/Northridge.

10. If you had the chance to go anywhere in the world, where would you go? A: I would go to Australia because I’ve never been there before, and I love their accents.

Mr.Abbott: Military, Math and Making a Difference By: Jasmine Landeros

I bet many of you have been wondering who’s that guy walking into your classroom or around campus well you’re in luck I’m here to tell you about our new principal Mr.Abbott. Before walking into Colton Middle School he was an assistant principal at Colton High School. He was a math teacher at Grand Terrace High School, San Bernardino High School, and San Andreas High School. Not only educated like a genius, but he has courage and fought for us in the U.S Army for 8 years. He studied in 4 different colleges to be successful. Those four colleges are Azusa Pacific University, Cal-State University, Riverside community college, and La Verne University (college of law). After all he is here to make CMS a better and improved school. He wants to improve the quality of instruction throughout the campus and increase student involvement as it pertains to their education. In other words add more fun lunches with more activities. Now after his awesome side of education, here are some interesting fun facts about him. His Favorite type of food is Mexican, his favorite fast food restaurant is IN-N-OUT. Some of his outside of school hobbies are playing sports, he plays basketball, golf, and baseball. He is obviously a sports person. Not only does he play sports but he watches them to. He is currently a fan of the following; Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, Chicago Cubs, and Chicago Black Hawks. Now getting to know him personally. His favorite color is red and as a kid his dream was to become a fighter pilot to fly jets. What he likes about our school are the pleasant staff and the cool students. He says that he loves his job. Another thing about him is that if he could choose any place in the world to go he would go to South America, because of the culture there. I find that quite interesting. Last but not least he doesn't believe in unicorns.

On August 21, 2015 students at first lunch were awarded with Fun Friday. At fun Friday people were everywhere, When the helpers/ASB students were setting up, kids were already lining up to get started on the games. Once the games were opened lots of people went to play. Most of the kids were happy and having fun! Many were watching the students play the games. Many were talking and hanging out with their friends. Not many people were dancing to the music but everyone seemed to enjoy it.. Students crowded around the table to get the chips they wanted. So Fun Friday seemed to be a successful, amazing day, and we hope next time to see you out there

The back to school dance took place on August 20, 2015 at 3:00p.m.. Colton Pride, a Club from Colton High was there to paint faces and arms. There was also food and drinks for sale from ASB. So many people got exhausted from dancing. Towards the middle of the dance the high school students joined in on the dancing.They played different varieties of music like pop, rap, and regional mexican.I hope to see more people at the next dance on October 29th.

Bullying: Why it Happens and What to Do Gloria, Becca, Yessenia, Chelsea

Bullying can affect people in many different ways, it can affect the way they look at themselves, and people around them. When students start getting bullied constantly they begin to think differently and worry about their body image. Or sometimes they think they are useless and worthless which leads to self harm or suicidal thoughts.

One possible reason for bullying is that students who harass other people usually have something going on in their families. They might bully so that they could feel better about themselves when they put other people down. It sometimes happens because the bully dislikes or is jealous of that person. It can be stopped but it takes a lot of effort from every student.

One of the best possible ways to get through bullying without self harm is to always have someone there to talk to. Something that everyone should remember is that someone out there cares for you. If you see bullying happening you should attempt to help or if you're too scared tell an adult.

So if your getting bullied, tell somebody. . Make sure not to harm yourself because that won't make anything better; you'll not only be hurting yourself but others around you. Stay strong, believe in yourself and remember that you are not alone.

Neymar da Silva Santos junior was born on February 5, 1992 in Mogi das Cruzes, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Neymar joined the youth system of Santos at age 11. He drew attention for his amazing soccer skills at an early age. Neymar is the son of a professional soccer player. He followed in his father’s footsteps by playing street games and an indoor version of the game. He joined the Portuguesa santista youth club in 1999 and in a few years he became one of the highly young talents in the country. News of his skills quickly spread to Europe and Neymar was offered the opportunity to play in Real Madrid C.F at age 14, but the Santos team convinced (bribed) him to stay. He won the best young player award. He became a full star in 2010 cause of helping Santos claim the league and Copa da Brazil.

Yasiel Puig is one of the players on the Los Angeles Dodgers. Starting with his early life Puig was born in Cienfuegos,Cuba. Yasiel had started to play baseball at the age of nine.

● Puig had started his Cuban Career in 2008.● Then Puig started his American career on June 28,

2012 when the Dodgers offered him a seven year contract.

● Then they promoted him to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on August 13, 2012.

● He played 14 games with the Quakes and then had spring training in 2013.

● On June 2, 2013 the Dodgers announced they recalled Puig.

● He then made his debut on June 3rd and he showed his strong arm by recording an outfield assist.

● On May 17, 2014 Puig had his eighth game with one extra base and hit one RBI which was a new record streak.

● Yasiel began his 2015 experiencing left hamstring issues that caused him to miss games.

● He eventually rejoined the Dodgers on June 6, 2015.

When Pele was six his family moved to Bauru and when he went to school he often skipped school so he can play soccer. When Pele was 12 he played for the Bauru.Later on, he got the team and when he was 15 the team Bauru took him to a team that was called Santos and he joined santos when he was 15.Later on, in 1957 he joined Brazil and he was 17 when he joined. Pele was the youngest player in Brazil. He played for teams like Santos, New York Cosmos and Brazil. Pele’s dad was a soccer player too. Peles team won the world cup in 1958 and more.In that day Pele was the youngest player on Brazil. Pele was the most top player in Brazil. Pele got the gold medal from Brazil because he was an outstanding player in the team. In the world cups he got the silver boot,silver ball and the golden ball.

Chaika The Coffin PrincessThis was also an enjoyable anime. Chaika was one of the most adorable characters in the whole

series. Unable to talk in complete sentences and carry a coffin around was comical, especially the reactions in different towns. It was also a very legit plot, she travels to find the remains of her father and grabs them from the Heros of the War. It’s a very great anime, it’s comedy and action. I enjoyed this show very much as well. If you are also interested you can try searching it online and give it a try.

100 LATINOS DIJERON WHAAAAT?! by. Lily Renae Violet Viper

Wait what?! I thought that this was a only english school!? Um not exactly. You see people there are a lot of kids that are bilingual (like me), so I thought it would be fun for everyone to know about this cool T.V show called “100 Latinos Dijeron!” Some of you guys might already know about this T.V show, and are going to enjoy reading this, but to all of you guys that don’t know about this show, well you guys will enjoy learning about this show anyways.

The main idea of this game is to get the most points before the other team gets the points. The team that gets the most points first will go to Dinero Rapido, (in english it would be fast money) . But how do we get to that?

The host of this game is Marco Antonio Regil. He is what brings all of the fun to the show . There are two young ladies that cheer for the teams, they don’t chose their favorite team, they just give the team a little cheer. There is a “judge,” she is in charge of making sure that nobody repeats the same answer that someone just gave. She also makes sure that the person makes his/her answer clearer more specific if necessary. The conductor of the show presents the teams.

In the game there are two teams. They can’t say anything mean . They don’t necessarily have to go as themselves, there have been teams that go dressed up as famous T.V actors, like el Chavo, la Chilindrina, la India Maria ect. Each team has a team captain and in the first round both team captains are asked a question, the captain that presses the answer button fist gets to answer the question. Once the captain has answered the question the host says the answer and everyone looks at the table of answers to see if the answer is there. If the answer is there then the game goes to the captain’s team. If the answer isn’t in the table of answers then the other captain gets a chance to answer the question. If both of the captains don’t get the answer then the question is asked to the next person in the team and so on until someone gets the highest answer in the table of answers. There are five rounds in the game, but if none of the teams get to 300 or more points, then they go the round called “The DEATH QUESTION,” for the final choice (but that rarely happens). Once there is a team that has 300 or more points, two team members are chosen to go to Dinero Rapido (fast money), where they have 30 seconds to answer five questions. The next person is in the music cabin listening to music while they wait for their turn, the second person has 35 seconds to answer the five questions.

The game lasts one hour, so there are two 30 minute games. The team that wins the first game gets to play in the second half of the game. The team that loses plays for the second half of the game and the next day the team that loses leaves with the money that they have won. So, now that you know about the game, go and watch..

Cube (O’Shea Jackson Jr.), Dr. Dre (Corey Hawkins), Eazy-E (Eric Lynn Wright), DJ Yella (Antoine Carraby, and MC Ren (Lorenzo Jerald Patterson) changed the evolution of rap music forever and made history. They were able to obtain fame and fortune throughout their years of making music. Sadly, as seen in the movie, they were threatened by the police several times because of the color of their skin. Also they felt the wrath of the FBI because of one of their records, but they were smart enough to use that as an advantage; they used the threats to boost their popularity. They also inspired many people and helped speak for people who didn’t have a voice. It was devastating to see that Eazy-E tragically died because of AIDS. Dr.Dre is a billionaire, thanks to his music career as an artist and producer, as well as his product Beats which he sold to Apple. In addition, Ice Cube has become a successfull artist and actor. He has been in several movies which turned out to become a great success. Overall it was a very incredible film. If you haven't seen Straight Outta Compton yet then you better stop whatever you are doing and go watch. “Ask your parents for permission first.” --Ms. Loyd

Iconic Character of Popcap becomes a War Machine!Written by: David Chicago

Now, I’m sure most of you have heard about Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare. For those of you who have yet to hear about this game, allow me to fill you in: it’s a third person shooter created by Popcap (the creators of Plants vs. Zombies) that allows you to take on the role as either a plant (as shown above) or a zombie. Now that you’re filled in, allow me to teach you a thing or two about one of my personal favorite characters, the sunflower. The main use of the sunflower is a healer, her main purpose is to be able to deal a bit of damage but mostly heal her teammates with her different abilities. Her primary weapon varies(each costume she has either has a new cosmetic appearance or an entirely new skill that may do more damage or add to her attacks), but her usual weapon is a rapid fire “sun burst” attack that does very minimum damage when used to attack opponents. Like I previously stated, she is meant for healing; not attacking. Sunflower can hold her own in certain situations, but your best bet is to turn tail and run. Her only offensive option is her “sunbeam” attack. You root yourself to the ground and fire off a devastating beam of solar energy directly at your foes. Now when I say she roots herself, I mean it; she literally sticks her roots into the ground and fires a laser of solar doom. Another interesting ability of the sunflower is her ability to set up a healing station that'll randomly drop sun for your teammates (this will heal plants when they come in contact with the sun). You can also heal your own healing station in order to keep it up for longer. I hope this guide gives you a good idea about how to play as the sunflower.
