What do you like best about thehouse?

"The kids are very conscious about thenew rules in the house-no eating in the liv-ing room, picking up their rooms daily, etc. They are a little more willing to follow the rulesbecause of their own sense of pride. Saturday, December 8was the dedication for theAnn Thompson family homebuild. There were many tearsof joy and a strong show ofsupport for the family.

An Olmsted County 4-Hmember, Tim Jirik, donateda refurbished lawn mower tothe Thompson family. Thiswas the third Habitat homethat has received a donatedmower from him. A groupof students and parents fromthe Rochester CentralLutheran School attendedand brought several boxes offood and gifts. Pastor KarenSeavey, from Kasson UnitedMethodist Church andPleasant Corners UnitedMethodist Church presentedAnn with a $450 gift card forHouston's Greenhouse &Gift for landscaping nextspring. Sara Marquardt andNancy Naatz presentedquilts to the family made bytheir respective clubs. Dodge County Thrivent representative Jeremy Hunzethanked everyone who took part in the Thompson homebuild. Thrivent also played a significant role by providing55% of the financial support.

One of the individualsinvolved in Habitat forHumanity said this wasthe biggest crowd theyhave had at a dedicationceremony.

Habitat executive director Kevin Worden hands the keys to the new home inMantorville to Ann Thompson. They officially closed on the home the end of December.

Dodge County agent for Thrivent Financial for Lutherans,Jeremy Hunze, was one of the guests who addressed the largecrowd gathered inside the home. Thrivent is providing 55% ofthe financial support for the home and one of the stipulationswas the family had to of moved in by the end of the 2012 year."May the Thompson family find rest, refreshment and renew-al within and outside these walls. May this house and yardrepresent a home filled with love," said Hunze.

When Habitat executive director Kevin Worden turned overthe keys to Ann Thompson he said, "These keys symbolize anew beginning".

In 2013 Dodge Center will look forward to the constructionof a third Habitat home build in Dodge County. A lot hasalready been secured. "The people in the Dodge Center areaand one special family will have a great deal to look forwardto," said Worden.
