¡Feliz Navidad! En este primer domingo después de Navidad, la Iglesia celebra la Sagrada Familia de Jesús, María y José. En el Evangelio de Mateo de hoy, escuchamos cómo un ángel del Señor se le aparece a San José y le ordena que tome a María y a Jesús y huya a Egipto, lejos de la ira del peligroso Rey Herodes. La Sagrada Familia permaneció segura en Egipto hasta la muerte de Herodes y el ángel del Señor una vez más se le apareció a San José y le indicó que llevara a la Sagrada Familia de regreso a Nazaret. San José fue el guardián y protector de la Sagrada Familia. San José también protegerá a nuestras familias, si le pedimos su ayuda e intercesión en la oración. Wesołych Świąt! Kościół celebruje dzisiaj Święto Świętej Rodziny Jezusa, Maryi i Józefa. Czytaniem przeznaczonym na dzisiejszą I niedzielę po Bożym Narodzeniu jest fragment Ewangelii według św. Mateusza. Świętemu Józefowi ukazuje się Anioł, który rozkazuje Mu zabrać Maryję i uciekać do Egiptu przed gniewem króla Heroda. Kolejnym razem anioł ukazał się Józefowi, polecając, aby Święta Rodzina wróciła do Nazaretu. Święty Józef jest opiekunem i obrońcą Świętej Rodziny. My również możemy prosić o Jego opiekę i ochronę przez modlitwę wstawienniczą – taką, jak te poniżej. Modlitwa 1. Święty Józefie, mój najmilszy Ojcze, po Jezusie i Maryi najdroższy mojemu sercu, Tobie się powierzam i oddaję, jak powierzyli się Twej opiece Boży Syn i Jego Przeczysta Matka. Przyjmij mnie za swoje dziecko, bo ja na całe życie obieram Cię za Ojca, Opiekuna, Obrońcę i Przewodnika mej duszy. O mój najlepszy Ojcze, święty Józefie, prowadź

Wyjednaj nam odpuszczenie grzechów i wstręt do grzechów. Wyproś nam zamiłowanie cnoty, pobożności, cierpliwości i bojaźni Bożej. Uproś nam pomnożenie wiary mocnej i stałej, nadziei niezłomnej i miłości najgorętszej Boga i bliźniego. Jak Józef egipski był wybawicielem swego ludu i kraju, tak i Ty, Patronie, bądź ochroną naszą, pomocą naszą, wybawicielem naszym we wszystkich potrzebach tak duszy jak i ciała. Osłaniaj Kościół nasz święty katolicki, chroń Ojczyznę naszą, broń wszystkie chrześcijańskie stany, a szczególnie broń maluczkich oraz młodzież naszą. Daj nam chleba naszego, daj nam życie czyste, daj śmierć świętą i zbawienie wieczne. Amen. W przyszłym tygodniu obchodzić będziemy Święto Objawienia Pańskiego. Poniżej zamieszczam kilka modlitw związanych z tym świętem, jakie możemy odmawiać w ciągu następnych paru dni. Na dzień Objawienia Pańskiego, czyli Trzech Króli (1863r) Tobie o najdroższy Zbawicielu, w lichej szopce w ubożuchnym żłobku, na garstce sianka złożonym, mędrcy świata i królowie oddają najwyższy hołd uwielbienia i składają najkosztowniejsze dary. Daj mi ubóstwo ducha, a będę bogatszym nad wszystkich Królów i nad wszystkich Panów, daj mi mądrość krzyża świętego, a będę mędrszy nad wszystkich mędrców świata tego. Tobie o Najdroższy Zbawicielu nawet nierozumne bydlątka wół i osioł oddają pokłon głęboki, poznając Pana swego, a ja obdarzony rozumem, stworzony na obraz i podobieństwo Twoje, miałżebym nie poznawać Ciebie, nie kochać Cię! ach będę Cię kochał, będę Cię kochał póki mi sił stanie! Tobie o Jezu mój cześć i pokłon oddaję. Jako rozpaliłeś nad ubogą stajenką betleemską jasną gwiazdę, która zarówno królów jak i ubogich pastuszków wiodła ku Tobie, tak rozpal miłością Twą serce moje, ażeby nią wiecznie dla Ciebie gorzało. Trzech Króli (1880r) Miłosierny Boże, Tyś przez gwiazdę na niebie wezwał Trzech Króli do żłóbka Syna Twego, a w ich osobach świat cały do uczestnictwa w nauce i łaskach Chrystusa, chcąc w miłości Swojej nie samych Żydów tylko, ale wszystkie zbawić narody.Podobnie jak świętych Królów i mnie wzywasz ku Sobie, przez Słowo Boże, pobożne czytania, świątobliwe przykłady, przez natchnienia wewnętrzne, wreszcie kary, któremi mię do upamiętania przywodzisz. Ty, Panie, wzywasz mię, a ja głosu Twego nie słucham. Ty szukasz mię pilnie, oczekujesz cierpliwie, a ja grzesząc, oddalam się od Ciebie! I jakiż czeka mię koniec, gdy mię Ty odstąpisz? Szczęśliwi Królowie, bo posłuchali Twego głosu, i nie oglądając się na trudy podróży i przeszkody ze strony Heroda, poszli do stajenki. Szczęśliwi wszyscy, którzy słuchając Twego natchnienia lub upomnień, porzucają drogę grzechu i spieszą do Ciebie drogą pokuty.O Panie! i ja chcę iść ich śladami. I Zbawca przyjął je mile, zmieszał z darami pasterzy bo tu pod prostą sukmaną biło zarówno szlachetne serce, jak pod szatami trzech królów. Jak wielka dla nas nauka! Nie złoto, nie dostojeństwa, lecz czyste serce, nieobciążone sumienie: oto jest wartość człowieka. Merry Christmas! On this first Sunday after Christmas, the Church celebrates the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. In the Gospel of Matthew today, we hear how an angel of the Lord appears to St. Joseph, and instructs him to take Mary and Jesus and flee to Egypt, away from the wrath of dangerous King Herod. The Holy Family safely stayed in Egypt until the death of Herod, and the angel of the Lord once again appeared to St. Joseph and instructed him to bring the Holy Family back to Nazareth. St. Joseph was the guardian and protector of the Holy Family. St. Joseph will also guard and protect our families, if we ask for his help and intercession in prayer. Here are some prayers to St. Joseph for his intercession for our families. Prayer 1: Gracious St. Joseph, protect me and my family from all evil as you did the Holy Family. Kindly

keep us ever united in the love of Christ, ever fervent in imitation of the virtue of our Blessed Lady, your sinless spouse, and always faithful in devotion to you. Amen.

Prayer 2: O glorious St. Joseph, to you God committed the care of His only begotten Son amid the many dangers of this world. We come to you and ask you to take under your special protection the children God has given us. Through holy baptism they became children of God and members of His holy Church. We consecrate them to you today, that through this consecration they may become your foster children. Guard them, guide their steps in life, form their hearts after the hearts of Jesus and Mary. Amen

Prayer 3: Gracious St Joseph, protect my family and all other families from danger, as you did protect the baby Jesus and His mother from the wrath of king Herod. Pray for us, that we respect, love and care for each other in our family as you were with Mary and Jesus. Help us to be understanding and forgiving towards each other. Most of all St Joseph, bring us closer to Jesus. St Joseph, please pray for our family. Amen. Next week, we celebrate Epiphany. I hope everyone had a blessed and enjoyable Christmas. This week is a slow week with our school on vacation and our sports team taking time off during the break. School resumes on Monday, January 6th.

Invest in Kids Tax Credit Scholarships –Through a group of donors the Archdiocese has established a Matching Gift Program. For every dollar designated to a St. Joseph School through Empower Illinois between December 1, 2019 and February 29, 2020, our school will receive two dollars in matching funds.

If you were to donate $1,000 and designate ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL, your donation will have a net cost TO YOU of $250, remember you get $750 back on your state taxes and your donation will provide a total of $3,000 donation to our school, to use for student scholarships.

If you choose to make your gift in January or February, you will be able to claim your tax credit on your 2020 tax return. This is a wonderful opportunity to help our school and support the mission of providing a quality Catholic education to students in our community who may not otherwise be able to afford it. I have set Wednesday January 8th for a meeting to discuss the scholarship program with any of our parishioners who may be interested in helping our school. Mark Your Calendar – Sunday, January 26th is the Opening of Catholic Schools Week. The theme: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed. Highlights the goals of what we strive for at St. Joseph School. We of course want our children to learn and through our food drive and other outreach we strive to teach our children the importance of service.

We recognize our children are the future leaders of our Church, and hope to instill in them the skills necessary to accept that role. Finally, by instilling in them success in their academics, we know this will help them succeed later in life.

A Message from the Cardinal Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, Across this liturgical year, we hear Saint Matthew’s Gospel. And in this holy season that celebrates the birth of Jesus, we hear a story unique to Matthew—the journey of the Magi. He writes: “The Magi were overjoyed at seeing the star, and on entering the house they saw the child with Mary his mother.” We can imagine their joy. They discovered the one for whom they longed and searched. He is the newborn Jesus. His mother Mary holds him in her arms and, at the same time, pre-sents him to the world. In this simple gesture, she evangelizes, gives us the living good news of her son. Then and now, it is a moment wrapped in joy. On our journey of renewal in the Archdiocese of Chicago, may this image of Mary, mother of the Lord, inspire and en-courage us to carry and present Jesus to a world that is so much in need of him. In our marriages, families, workplaces, and communities, may we joyfully carry and present him who is the great light shining in darkness. God bless you and all your loved ones in this holy season.

~~~~ Estimados hermanas y hermanos en Cristo, A lo largo de este año litúrgico, escuchamos el Evangelio de San Mateo. Y en esta temporada santa que celebra el nacimien-to de Jesús, escuchamos a Mateo una historia única: el viaje de los Reyes Magos. Él escribe: “Cuando vieron la estrella, se regocijaron sobremanera con gran alegría. Y entrando en la casa, vieron al Niño con su madre María”. Podemos imaginar su alegría. Ellos descubrieron a quien anhelaban y buscaban. Él es el recién nacido Jesús. Su madre María lo sostiene en sus brazos y, al mismo tiempo, lo presenta al mundo. En este simple gesto, ella evangeliza, nos da la buena nueva viviente de su hijo. Entonces y ahora, es un mo-mento envuelto en alegría. En nuestro viaje de renovación en la Arquidiócesis de Chi-cago, que esta imagen de María, madre del Señor, nos inspire y motive a llevar y presentar a Jesús a un mundo que está tan necesitado de él. En nuestros matrimonios, familias, lugares de trabajo y comunidades, que podamos alegremente llevarlo y presentarlo a él, que es la gran luz brillando en la oscuridad. Dios los bendiga a ustedes y todos sus seres queridos en esta temporada santa.

W tym świętym czasie, kiedy celebrujemy narodziny Jezusa, słyszymy szczególną dla świętego Mateusza historię – opowieść o wędrówce Trzech Króli. Ewangelista napisał: „Gdy ujrzeli gwiazdę, bardzo się uradowali. Weszli do domu i zobaczyli Dziecię z Matką Jego, Maryją”. Możemy sobie wyobrazić ich radość. Odkryli tego, za którym tęsknili i kogo szukali. On jest nowo narodzonym Jezusem. Jego matka Maryja trzyma Go w ramionach, a jed-nocześnie przedstawia Go światu. W tym prostym geście ewangelizuje, przekazując nam dobrą nowinę o swoim Synu. Ten moment, podobnie jak wtedy, tak i teraz jest obleczony w radość. Niech ten obraz Maryi, Matki Pana, inspiruje nas podczas naszej wędrówki ku odnowie Archidiecezji Chicago. Niech dodaje odwagi, abyśmy nieśli światu Jezusa, temu światu, który tak bardzo Go potrzebuje. W naszych małżeństwach, rodzinach, miejscach pracy i wspólnotach z radością nieśmy i przedstawiamy Tego, który jest wielkim światłem jaśniejącym w ciemności. Niech Pan błogosławi Wam i Waszym najbliższym w tym świętym czasie.
