BULLYING. NO WAY! The National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence is being held next Friday 16th March. All students, staff and community are invited to wear orange to mark the event and pledge their stand against bullying a violence. Within our school, all classes will be involved in deepening their understanding of bullying, and creating classroom door displays to demonstrate their understanding and their stance against it. On Friday afternoon, all students will attend an address about Bullying and be able to take a stand together, forming a human chain along our school fence as a symbol that bullying has no place in our school. Class groups may also be participating in a variety of other activities to further their understandings, so keep a look out on our Facebook page for photos! I thank Darcy Persse, the new SRC Secretary and Georgia Price, the new SRC Treasurer, for their help running our first meeting and I am sure that everyone will acknowledge their roles and responsibilities soon and will work extremely hard towards our goal. Remember that there will be sub-comity meetings held in the following weeks to discuss Market Day activities and the Chinese Poster Competition. Have an amazing week! CAPTAIN’S MESSAGE Time flies when you’re having fun! It is already Week 7 on our term calendar and we are working hard to finish assessments. Our annual Swimming Carnival was on Friday and the turnout was amazing. The students had a fun day competing not just in the pool but in war cries as well. I know that by the end of the day, my voice was gone and my muscles were aching. Congratulations to Balonne for the successful win, but we were all winners that day because we all gave a really good go at the events. A BIG congratulations to the Age Champions and trophy winners, your hard work paid off. Have a good week and keep up the hard work! Jessica Purvis – Secondary School Captain

PREP-2 NEWS P-2 have been working extremely hard and should be proud of what they have achieved this term already. I would like to congratulate students on the completion of their homework. Year 2 enjoyed learning about time last week. They are beginning to read time to the quarter hour. Prep have been displaying excellent persistence with identifying letters of the alphabet and it is fantastic to see the smile on their face when they have achieved new things. In science students have been learning about living things and their needs. Last week we put on our scientific hats and went outside investigating healthy habitats in our school. Students were very excited to find birds, butterflies, ants and plants. Mrs Kirsty Cookson.

SECONDARY SNAPSHOT Congratulations: Congratulations to all students for their active participation and sportsmanship that was clearly displayed at the swimming carnival last week. We had a great time! Needles: Year 7 and Year 10’s were involved in the schools’ immunisation program on Wednesday.

Maths: Year 9/10 students have been busy with Probability experiments and then comparing this data with the theoretical probability of the event.

Design Tech: In this unit, the year nine and ten students are required to create an innovative design to revolutionise an industry. Students work in groups to identify and research a problem, design a solution to this problem and construct and market their design product. With the recent history of firearm injuries within Australian borders, rural gun theft and media attention on gun safety in the United States; students have devised a quick and easy way to ensure the safety of firearms. The aim of this student vision is to protect youth, ensure farmers and sports shooters weapons do not fall into the wrong hands, and ensure firearms are highly secure whilst being easy to access and

use. Great job year nine and ten!

Art: This term in art, we are focusing using POP art around the topic of animal antics. Students have been using the computers to create their designs.
