Raindrops 8U

The Raindrops (8U division) fielded 4 teams who enjoyed great competition

during the regular season, and concluded their season with a “Girl’s Choice All-

Star Game.” Players were selected by their teammates to compete together

during this special event. Congratulations to all of the All-Star game participants!

Thunder 10U

The Thunder was our largest division, fielding 6 in-house teams. The 10U Fightin’

Irish (Coach Mike Snyder) posted an undefeated record during the rgular season,

but was knocked out of the playoffs by the LSU Tigers (Coach Nick Rosica). The

Tigers then went on to take the 10U Championship, holding off a late-game

comeback to defeat the Oregon Ducks (Coach Kris Hensler). The Thunder

division also held a “Girl’s Choice All-Star Game” to conclude their regular

season.

Deep Run’s 10U Sunday Select team featured many returning players

from a young 2016 team. The Select team had a very successful

season, going undefeated in regular season play (7-0-1), and just

missing the playoff rounds in the rain-soaked end-of-season

tournament. Thank you to all of the girls and their families for their

commitment to the Select season, in addition to playing intramural

ball!

Bolts 12U

Deep Run fielded two in-house teams at the 12U age division, and

played an inter-club league with Lenape Valley and Doylestown.

Regular season play was followed by a double-elimination playoff

bracket. The girls had a great season, played hard, and improved

with every game!

VIGS (15U, 18U)

Deep Run fielded four VIGS teams for this past spring season, two at each of the

respective 15U and 18U age divisions. 15U fielded two young teams who worked

hard to meet the challenge of VIGS play. In 18U play, both the Black and Blue

Deep Run teams enjoyed successful seasons. The Black team (Coach Files) just

missed securing a playoff berth, while the Blue team (Coach Hess) fell in the

second round of the playoffs to eventual 18U champion Palisades.

The Deep Run Lady Lightning Travel Softball Team’s wrapped up another

exciting and successful season!

Our 12 & Under Team finished the spring Suburban Travel League Season

with a record of 6-2-1. They made it all the way to the semifinals of the

championship tournament before giving up a close one (3-2) to the

eventual champs. As a team, they had the lowest runs scored against

them (32 runs against) of any team in the league. They also finished their

USSSA Tournament play 5-5-1. The core of this team looks forward to

moving into the 14 & Under age bracket with many more exciting things to

come.

Our 14 & Under Team also had a lot of success during the

2017 season. After competing in almost 75 organized games,

some of their accomplishments were - Finalist in the

USSSA Monster Bash Tournament, #1 Seed in the

USSSA Night Owl Tournament, Semi-Finalist in the

USSSA Extreme Heat Tournament, and finalist in the

Divisions

Divisions will be based on grade and not strictly by birthday.

We plan to continue the older division for the 10th - 12th grade boys so long as the registration numbers

allow. The number of teams and the gym locations for this group may vary based on the number of

registrations. All other divisions will play their games at XL Sports World in Hatfield, PA.

The divisions for the coming year are:

Boys 1st-2nd grade

Boys 3rd-4th grade

Boys 5th-6th grade

Boys 7th-9th grade

Boys 10th-12th grade

Girls 1st-2nd grade

Girls 3rd-4th grade

Girls 5th-7th grade

*For those players that are selected for a travel team but, also would like to play intramural the fee will be

$35.00. A specific registration link will be provided to those players to register for intramural league play as

well.

The older divisions (5th grade and up) will form the teams by draft. In November we plan on having skill

assessments for these older divisions. These aren't really tryouts because everyone that registers will be

drafted on a team in the appropriate age division. They will just help the coaches determine player ability

when we are drafting the teams and hopefully lead toward more balanced teams. The only play-with

requests that will be honored in these older groups will be with siblings. Every effort will be made to

accommodate play-with requests in the younger age groups (1st - 4th grades), but they are not

guaranteed.

Games will be held on Saturdays between 7:30AM and 4:30PM at XL Sports World in Hatfield, PA.

Travel Basketball The Deep Run Boys Travel 8th grade basketball team completed a very successful season in 2016-17.

Building upon their previous years’ hard work, they continued to improve in all facets of the game.

Over the course of the season, they were able to string together small victories, turning them into

major accomplishments. For the 3rd straight season, they compiled an ICBA regular season record of

10-2. This year culminated with 3 straight playoff victories, winning the Division championship. The

victories in the Semi-Finals and Finals came against teams that had beaten them in the regular

season. The key to their success was a patient, balanced offense, and aggressive man to man

defense. In the 3 playoff victories, they conceded an average of only 29 points per game. In

addition to their ICBA success, the team played extremely well in their various tournaments. Overall,

they finished the 2016-17 year with a record of 22-4.

The 2016-17 squad consisted of 10 players – TJ Grenda, Luke Yoder, Gregory Stumpo, Colin

Monahan, Colin Post, Aidan McCloskey, Ben Scary, Michael O’Connor, Tyler Zikul, and Mason Lazasz.

Over the course of the season, all 10 players contributed significantly. Their individual talents

blended into a very formidable team. Opposing coaches regularly commented about their hard

work and unselfish play. Win or lose, teams knew they were in for a battle against Deep Run.

The team thanks Deep Run for its’ great support over the past few years. I know that Deep Run is

proud of their accomplishments. Moving forward, many of these boys will turn their attention to High

School basketball. Please come out and support them in their future endeavors.

The 11U Girls travel team enjoyed a fun and successful 2016-17 season. Overall, the girls finished with

a 17-4 record and competed for multiple league and tournament championships along the way.

They started the year by winning the WWBA Thanksgiving tournament and finishing as the runner up

in the ICBA pre-season tournament. They carried the momentum of their pre-season tournament

successes in to the ICBA regular season where they went 11-1 in the regular season and qualified as

the #2 seed for the playoffs. After knocking off Doylestown in their first playoff game, they looked to

avenge their only loss of the season vs. Fox Chase in the championship game. The championship

game was a hard-fought affair that saw the two teams exchange the lead 8 times before Fox Chase

was able to squeak out the 30-27 victory in the game’s final seconds. Team members include Carlee

Balmer, Katie Yoder, Grace Rosica, Jess Levush, Bella Forker, Mia Smith, Lauren Moylan, Ava

Fantaskey, Maggie Hayes, and Ryan Hodder. The team was coached by Clint Hodder and Nick

Rosica.

The 13U boys travel basketball team enjoyed a very successful season. Our 1st tournament we

finished 3-1 at the Streeper Tournament. Our 2nd tournament we finished 2-1 with our only loss

coming to the eventual champs LV. Then our 3rd tournament we went 3-0 winning the Christmas

tournament Championship! Now it was time for our regular season to start in which we had some real

good hard fought games. Finished the regular season 8-4. We hosted a home game and won

against a tough Southampton team. So we got a shot in the Semifinals against the #1 seed and

undefeated H/H. We started off very slow and were down 15 at halftime but just like this team all

year they fought back and sent the game to overtime which unfortunately we lost by 2! Overall it

was a great season with a great group of boys and assistant coaches finishing 17-7!

Our roster included Bobby Regan, Jake Stranix, Dylan Main, Timmy Mastro, Jack Gordon, Joey Poust,

Joey Kacerik, Joey Erhlich, Ayden Carey and Jacob Bing-Zaremba! Head Coach Bob Regan,

Assistant coaches Melina Chiartas and Rick Stranix.
