He was active in many science organizations, Kiwanis and his church. Eaglets… North Olmsted Eaglets celebrate their 50th Anniversary. The Eaglets will perform with Alumni Eaglets from over the past 50 years. Together they will perform at the North Olmsted High School’s stadium after the 1st Football game of the season against Valley Forge on August 24, 2012. Current Eaglets and 38 Eaglet alumni will perform to “Hang On Sloopy” and the “Eye of the Tiger”. After fundraising they bought uniforms, top hats, canes and the signature Eaglets white boots. On Sunday August 26, 2012, the Eaglets, new and old, will march in the North Olmsted Homecoming Parade. Some Eaglets will be wearing uniforms from each decade of the Eaglet’s life at North Olmsted High School. Newsletter… This issue has been sent out by email to as many that I have email addresses. Where are they… Superintendent Dr. Cheryl Dubsky retired August 1, 2012 after 18 years at North Olmsted City Schools. She retired saying thank you for the privilege of working for the North Olmsted City Schools – a district that is truly Excellent with Distinction – in so many ways. We say thank you to Dr. Dubsky and we shall miss you! Class of 1937 Robert Cowley wrote to us about a memory from NOHS… Well here is a little trivia that made the front page of the Cleveland Press. In the fall of 1936 we ordered class rings and when they arrived the gold was so soft and bent so easily that the rings were hard to get on and off. A complaint was made to our Superintendent, Louis E. Hayes, who didn’t seem too interested. So two from our class, Jack Demaline and Warren (Jim) Geiderman, went to the Superintendent and more or less told him something had to be done with the rings. NOTHING WAS DONE!! So the next morning Jack and Jim picked a class that would stick together. When the class was together, we all agreed that when the bell rang for the next class nobody was to move. Well, other classes needed the room and it didn’t take long for Mr. Hayes to show up. After Mr. Hayes tried to persuade the class to no avail, he asked what we wanted and he was told the class wanted to see the Jeweler that sold us the rings. The “Ring Leaders” had anticipated this and had called the Cleveland Press and a reporter showed up and reported The Class of 1937 gripes in the next morning paper. Finally we did receive rings that didn’t bend.

Class of 1987 Christina Craigie, a 13 year U.S. Army Reserve veteran is in Afghanistan for a 1 year deployment with Operation Enduring Freedom. Chris left on March 24, 2012. Staff Sgt. Christina Craige served previously in Operation Desert Storm. Chris is an eighth-grade teacher at North Olmsted Middle School. She teaches social studies and is the drama advisor and coaches track. All at the Middle School will miss Chris. She plans to keep in contact by sending letters and using skype video to chat. Thank you for Serving and God Bless and keep safe. Class of 2011 Air Force Airman Joseph M. Isabella graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Joseph is the son of Mick Isabella of North Olmsted and brother of Tony Isabella of Cleveland. 2012 NOHS Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees… 1999 Mark Anders – 3 sport athlete competing in football, basketball and track. 2001 Mark Trapp – 2 sport athlete competing in basketball and soccer. 1999 Shawna Amato-Behlke – 3 sport athlete competing in soccer, basketball and softball. 1980 Terry Romp – 2 sport athlete competing in football and track. 1982 Patrick Lima – 2 sport athlete competing in basketball and baseball.
