Hello Sisters and Brothers,Here we are in the heat ofsummer, and I hope everyone isstaying nice and cool!Remember that the Lodge is coolfor your comfort. Takeadvantage of it and come in fordinner and a drink. Bring yourfavorite neighbor too!Saturdays are in full swing, andSandy is doing a great job withthe Birthday Bash line-ups! I wasup north visiting my son, but Iheard our first birthday bash forthe month of July was a lot offun! Way to go Sandy! Checkthe newsletter for the next threemonths’ entertainment lineup. Ihope to see you Saturday night! The month of August looks to beanother busy month! As newmembers have stepped forwardto steer head new or traditionalevents here at the lodge, let’smake sure we support them intheir efforts. Please be fair tothem and give them a chance toperform their duties. Many newmembers are coming in with somegreat ideas to keep this lodgeactive. They are donating muchof their time to our lodge. Let’sshow our appreciation.Let’s remember that Justicemeans to be fair with a smile andnot with a frown. When we showjustice, we show it through ouractions by being kind, fair andrighteous to one another. I knowthis can come easy to many andwith God’s help and guidance, it’spossible for all. We need tochoose to love one another aswe continue to make this the bestlodge around! And remember, let’s continue to have fun!

Your Esteem Loyal Knight,Julie Gomez

News and notes from the chair ofBrotherly Love. Football seasonis upon us- yes, the doldrums ofsummer are winding down. Schoolwill be starting soon, and with itcomes America’s passion -football: whether it is high school, college, or pro we cannot seemto get enough! So it begs thequestion, “Are you ready for somefootball?”

In August we will behaving our second “BirthdayBash” night. The date is Saturdaythe 30th from 7:30-11:30. Theband playing that night is Tease.July’s “bash” was awesome, andwhat a nice way to honor ourmembers born in July. Pleasecome celebrate August birthdaybabies! Do not forget your dancingshoes! A special thanks goes outto Sandie Sesanto for herwonderful efforts in puttingtogether these function!

Karaoke Wednesday isproving to be a big hit at the lodge. It is a fun time for fellowship, entertainment, and a few laughs. We do have some talented peoplesinging, but there is always a needfor more! Why not you! Also thatnight we have our Jack of Spadesdrawing at 8:00. Keith Kelly isdoing a fantastic job running thefundraiser! The prize money iswell over 1,200 dollars! Wouldn’tthat be nice to hit?!

Growing up I wasschooled on the importance ofthe four pillars of life: Faith,Family, Finance, and Fun. Faith, the belief that God is there for us.We just need to tap into his systemto find peace. “Let go let God.”Family, helped nurture our faith. We were united in a common causeof being the best we could for eachother. Finance, what career pathwere you going to follow tosupport your family, and make adifference with those you camein contact with. Fun, life shouldbe enjoyable experience. I was toldif one has the first three covered, the fourth comes along for theride!

I will leave you with aquote attributed to Ben Franklin,“Beer is proof that God loves usand wants us to enjoy life.” Thisseems very apropos with footballseason just around the corner.Have a good August! Be well!

Fraternally,

Tim ConklinLecturing Knight

Hello my dear fellow members andfamily,It used to be that the television stationswould play the National Anthem anddisplay our countries flag and sign offafter mid-night. NO MORE! I’vecome back from the Grand LodgeConvention in New Orleans with myheart full of joy to see how proud weare to be an ELK. Like our GER JohnD. Amen says, “We need to elevateour voice, and ourselves and be proudto be an Elk!” We still honor our flagand defend and protect its values. Weare one Nation under God. I’m soproud that we still open our meetingswith God’s blessing. We are proud todisplay our colors, honor our flag, andsing our National Anthem that’s whatElks are about to help the lessfortunate, our youth to help them stayaway from temptation of substanceabuse and to support our veteran’s.This is why I joined the Elks to helpothers and not for what I can gain formyself. “We are people of passion, and thatpassion made visible continues to driveus to even greater heights in service…”- PGER Miller Pickering “We arepeople of passion” the Grand Lodgesessions were very informative and Ireturned with a great inspiration tohelp those in need and we really needto bring back some of our charitableprograms that we have put aside sometime ago. New Orleans was fun and Imet so many great members andfamilies from lodges all over thecountry. I have returned to our lodgethinking of all the great changes weneed to do around and also planningnew events we will put together foryou my dear members, families andguest. I would like to start byThanking our manager Becky for thewonderful cook she hires, also a bigthanks to the members who have beencooking on the Monday nights “NoFrills” dinners for the month of July..Independence Day Celebration wasvery spectacular, also our first monthlyBirthday Bash was a great success, andwe promise to continue and be bettereach month. FAMILY FUN NIGHT wasdedicated to our Brother Mr. SteveMartin and it was excellent.

A person’ssuccess can be measured by thetangible things in life like houses, money, cars etc. Sometimesperception of worth, prestige, admiration can be linked to thesevery same things. Merriam-Webster’s dictionary definessuccess: The fact of getting orachieving wealth, respect, or fame.We strive so hard as humans toachieve these items that we maylose focus on the non-tangibles.What are these non-tangibles?What are these success items thatwe can’t touch or see? Success canalso be measured by happiness andbecoming the best person you canbe. What this means simply is that,if you want to have a great life, you must continually strive tobecome a good person. Any changefrom this course will lead you tolower levels of happiness anddisappointment. Every time youact consistently with the highestvirtues that you know, you feelhappy and physically powerfulinside, your self-confidence andself-esteem go up and you becomemore effective in your relationshipsand in your work. Virtue is its ownreward. It pays for itself in theinner feeling of pleasure andcontentment you have when youlive consistent with the best youknow. Character will be the greatestsuccess factor. If you want to makechanges your surroundings, youmust go to work and change yoursubconscious mind, your world ofvalues, beliefs, and innerconvictions so that the person youare inside is exactly the mentalequivalent of the life you want toenjoy on the outside. WilliamShakespeare wrote, “And thisabove all, to thine own self be true. Then, it must follow as the nightthe day, thou canst not then befalse to any man.” You mustalways be consistently true toyourself. This means being true tothe very best that is in you. Furthermeans that you always do your verybest in every situation. Yourperception to others or reputationis your greatest asset. Be successful,be the best you can be and theadmiration you will receive willcarry forth to others.Show yourself in all respects to bea model of good works, and in yourteaching show integrity, dignityTitus 2:7

Hello Brothers and Sisters,Wow here it is August already and we are always busy with homeprojects Lodge activities and fun times. Much thanks also to thosewho have been helping with all the work items and also enjoying ourfun times. Thank you Keith Kelley for stepping in and helping with the weedpulling and mulch spreading in our flower and hedge plantingareas.[Actually, I think that I am the one stepping up to help him!] Also in the garden and sprinkler area, Louis Garcia is in the processof doing the sprinkler repairs and also some gardening maintenance. There were a few bad sprinklers and some dead greenery that we areworking on. Thank you Louis. And as always a thanks to Roy Kneale for you name it projects,Chimes, Bingo equipment, besides working with bingo every week. Please let us know about other members we should recognize fortheir efforts in our Lodge. We would like to thank Tony Nobli for a great effort in setting upour new Point of Sales system, this has been quite a learning processfor all involved. This is that time of the year when vacations and other activitiestake us away; it is also a time when expenses seem to be higher. In thepast few months we have replaced or repaired quite a few things inour Lodge. Our food expenses have also gone up and wages haveincreased. Together we will work through these times. We are very thankful for our lease outs andextra Lodge activities during these next fewmonths.
