TRANSCRIPT
THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JANUARY 21, 2018
and I will make you
FISHERS OF MEN
My Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Theresa,
We recently heard in the scrip-
tures of John the Baptist point-
ing the way for people to follow
Jesus. In today’s gospel, Mark
writes about Jesus calling his
hearers to repentance; directly,
he asks fishermen to follow him.
In the old-testament reading,
Jonah calls to repentance the
city of Nineveh.
The new year is a traditional time for making resolutions. Where do
we turn for guidance to ensure that what we are to resolve to do is
not only for our own good but that which helps bring about the
reign of God? This reign is really God's love over all of us and
within all of us. The reign of God is the love of God according to
which we live. The poor will have the good news proclaimed to
them when we live the reign of God in all its fullness and in all of
us, as Jesus said.
Mother Nature has presented for us every day since the beginning
of creation the rising and the setting of the sun. This show, re-
splendent each and every day as it was on that very first occasion, is
available each and every one of us. The morning and night prayer of
the Church reminds us of this every time it is prayed, alone or in the
community. What a wonderful resolution it would be if we rise ear-
ly, at least occasionally, to witness the finger of God at Creation.
With every good wish,
Fr. Phil Lloyd Pastor

CARTA DEL PADRE PHIL
Mis queridos feligreses y amigos de Santa Teresa,
Recientemente en las escrituras de
Juan el Bautista escuchamos que se-
ñala el camino para que las personas
sigan a Jesús. En el evangelio de hoy,
Marcos escribe acerca de Jesús
llamando a sus oyentes al arrepenti-
miento.
¿A dónde recurri-
P. Phil Lloyd Pastor
