  • Message from our Director...

    Dear all,

The opening ceremony by the Raja Muda on Thursday, 27 March 2014 was carried out very successfully. Everything that we had planned went on with clockwork precision and Dato Lim Si Boon and our invited guests have all given good reviews of the ceremony. The students put up very good performances and the whole show was bright, colourful and impressive. For the success of the day I would like to thank all of you for the sacrifice of time and effort to work together as a team to achieve this wonderful show. I apologise for the interruption to your teaching schedules and the the absence of students from your class when they were out for their practice or training. For those of you who worked behind the scenes to make the hall, auditorium, the art rooms, D&T room and classrooms as attractive as possible with good materials for exhibition, a very big THANK YOU! All that you put up have really impressed the parents and the invited guests. It is certainly an event that will be memorable for the whole school community.

    Thank you,

  • On the 5th of March, the Chemistry class of Cohort 7 of the Tenby Sixth Form went on a study trip to Fatimah Hospital, Ipoh. The trip was organised by the Chemistry Class with the aim of learning about the medical apparatus and techniques involved in diagnosing patients.

The students were first taken to the Radiology Depart-ment and were given a tour by Mr Peter Lam, the manager of the Radiology Department. He first explained that the very shape of the Radiology department at the hospital was unique as the shape of the department was normally linear, while this one was not of that design. He explained that this design allowed the staff to at-tend to patients in a quicker and more efficient manner. Then, he took the students around to view many different medical appa-ratus, such as the X-ray machines, Ultrasound machine and CT scan. He also explained how these equipment were used and even showed the students some of the images obtained from the differ-ent machines. Besides that, he also provided glimpses of life as a doctor.

After that, the students were taken to the Pathology De-partment of the Gribbles Laboratory, where Mr Kumar took over from Mr Peter Lam. He explained that the Pathology Department was mainly in charge of collection and analysis of tissue and organ samples for diagnostic purposes. He showed the students how the Pathology lab operated, and the various machines and procedures used in collecting and analysing samples of body fluid and tissues. He explained the functions of the various departments within the Pathology Department, such as the serology, haematology, and microbiology departments. He even showed the students pre-served organ and tissue samples from the lab. Lastly, the students met the CEO, Dr Lim Chie Kien and thanked him for allowing them to visit the hospital.

All in all, the trip to Fatimah Hospital proved to be very beneficial to the students of the Chemistry Class of Cohort 7. It is hoped that more study trips like this can be organised in the near future.

  • A Visit to Galeri Sultan Azlan Shah, Kuala Kangsar

On 31st March 2014, 40 students from KBSR 5A and 5B and their

teachers, Miss Lee Lai Lai, Mrs Nantini and Miss Sarmila visited the

Galeri Sultan Azlan Shah in the royal town of Kuala Kangsar. The

gallery displays the history and milestones of the life of HRH Sultan

Azlan Shah, the 34th Ruler of Perak Darul Ridzuan. The students

were in awe of the personal and official possessions of the Sultan

which included crown jewels, costumes, medals, cars and

mementoes from his working and sporting careers. The trip was

indeed an eye-opener and memorable for the students as it enriched

their knowledge of the Perak Monarchy.

  • Ipoh International School Early Years Centre (IISEYC) Parents Evening

The parent/ teacher conference at IISEYC was

held on Tuesday, 1st April 2014. After having had

their children in school for a term, anxious parents

were keen to know how they have progressed.

The evening gave them an opportunity to talk to

the teachers and to see their childrens work in

school. It was a successful evening with more

than 70% parents present. This year waiting time

was minimised as each parent was given 10

minutes to talk to the teachers.
