COMMUNITY OF SCHOOLS
Kororo Public School
Hello Everyone! Welcome to Week 4 Term 4. This term all classes K to 6 will participate in Child Protection lessons. Child protection education is required to be taught in every stage of learning from Kindergarten to Year 6 as part of Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE). This education aims to assist students in developing skills in recognising and responding to unsafe situations and seeking assistance effectively.
This subject prepares and supports students to lead, and contribute to, healthy, safe and meaningful lives which promote respect, responsibility, enjoyment, inclusion and social justice for self and others.
Our school’s PDHPE program covers a wide range of education matter, including relationships, drug use, human sexuality, child protection, fundamental movement, skill development, safety and physical activity. Some of the content of the program deals with sensitive issues. The school recognises this by teaching about these issues within the context of a developmentally appropriate program and by providing information to you about the program.
The school program will be implemented in a manner that supports the role of parents and caregivers and reflects the ethos of the school community. For more information on PDHPE go to https://syllabus.nesa.nsw.edu.au/pdhpe/. The school program aims to encourage students to make informed decisions about their lifestyle taking into account the values of the family, culture and religion to which they belong. Please contact the school if you want to discuss your child’s inclusion in the program. Enjoy Term 4! Leonie Smith Principal
Week 4 Term 4 - 6th November 2019
Please note: The Uniform Shop will not be open this Friday 7th November.
DEPUTY’S REPORT by Mel Fenton
Our first Kindergarten Orientation visits took place last week for our students coming to big school in 2020. There were a few nervous, excited, apprehensive faces and that was just the parents! It was great to see so many new and existing Kororo families coming along to support the importance of a smooth transition to school. At the conclusion of the session the smiles on the children’s faces showed that they are certainly ready to take the next big step on their learning journey into primary school. They will continue with their second visit this week. In Term 3, some of our students entered the Fruit and Veg Month 2019 Student Competition. At Kororo Public School we were lucky enough to have a winner in Rihanna Calleja from 4CA. Rihanna designed a creative Fruit and Vegetable Superhero – Captain Cauliflower!

Student Portraits
We still have lot’s of student portraits from the Twilight Fair that were not sold. These portraits are from classes 4CA, 4HM, 6GS, 6LS & 6RS. If you would like to purchase your child’s artwork please see the office. Portraits are $4 each. All proceeds go to the P & C.
The School Banking Program will be finishing
at our school at the end of this term as we look
for new volunteers to help us facilitate the
program.
Our students really enjoy participating in the
Commonwealth Bank School Banking
program and to keep this program running we
need your help.
The program requires a volunteer School
Banking Co-ordinator to facilitate the banking
and distribution of School Banking rewards.
This only takes a small amount of your time
one day a week and the Commonwealth Bank
will provide support in how to run the
program. Your help with the program will
greatly benefit students as they develop vital
saving skills and also help our school with
fundraising.
Currently, School Banking day is Friday.
Please see the office to fill out a form.
