Hello Everyone

I hope you enjoyed the long weekend with family and friends and managed to keep warm.

Thank you for labelling all students hats, jumpers and jackets. Our school photos went well, and we all looked very smart

and happy in our full school uniform. The photographer did an excellent job of ensuring we all had smiles on our faces,

and we looked our best.

Please remember to always contact the office about medical plans and medication. Do not place medication in school

bags. Our Seesaw communication should be for learning only. Please phone the office if there are changes to

medication, pick up or drop off plans.

Thank you to the Kiss and Drop parents for not parking at the school crossing. We need the road to be open for all traffic

so it is much safer for everyone.

School reports for Semester 1 will be sent home at the end of next week. Term 3 is already looking a very busy and

productive term.

We have had more wonderful successes by Kororo Public School last week on the sporting field in the classroom and at

the Eisteddfod. Please enjoy the following news articles.

The last day of Term 2 is 25/6/21 and Term 3 students return 13/7/21.

Enjoy the winter break and we look forward to Semester 2 learning.

Hope you all have a great week!

Winter Carnival

Student's in Year 3-6 will participate in The Winter Sports Carnival this Friday 18th June. It is a great day for students to try a new sport in a fun and non-competitive environment. Lets hope the sun shines for us! Students will spend the day with others from our community of schools – Narranga PS, Coffs Harbour PS and Tyalla PS and learn valuable skills and sportsmanship. If you would like to attend on this day, you will need to sign in at the venue using the NSW Services QR Code Check-in.

Attendance

Kororo Public School student attendance over the past fortnight, shows the percentage of students in attendance at school has increased from 88.6% to 90.7%. A fantastic effort, everyone. It is lovely to see students joining in with all the extracurricular activities KPS offers and achieving great success. A special congratulations to Year 3 students who yet again achieved the best attendance over the past fortnight. What a fantastic result!

ICAS Assessment

Kororo Public School will be participating in the ICAS Assessments . ICAS is designed to target students’ higher-order thinking and

problem-solving skills in English, Mathematics, Science, Writing, Spelling Bee and Digital Technologies. Each assessment celebrates

students’ accomplishments by providing opportunities for recognition and development. Every student will receive a printed certificate

and an online results report.

ICAS Assessments are now online, a move that reflects a sector-wide transition to online assessments. This allows greater accessibility for students and faster delivery of results.

What is NAIDOC Week?

NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture

and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not

only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great

opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and

Torres Strait Islander community.

NAIDOC originally stood for ‘National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee’.

This committee was once responsible for organising national activities during NAIDOC Week

and its acronym has since become the name of the week itself.

How will we celebrate at Kororo?

On Monday the 21st June, there will be a NAIDOC Assembly for all students.

There will also be an Art Expo in the Hall, and a morning tea for invited guests.

Throughout the week, all classes will be engaging in activities to develop a further

understanding of our local Aboriginal culture and exploring how we can work together to

ensure our generation appreciates our land and history.

Black, Green & Blue.

Stage 3 Dance Eisteddfod

We competed against 13 other schools and achieved 1st place! The girls had energy and did their best performance yet.

If anyone would like to attend the MNC Dance Festival where they can see this performance they can buy tickets for next Wednesday

and/or Thursday night through the link only. https://www.trybooking.com/BRXMB

Dance Eisteddfod

I was in the wings, nervously awaiting our turn. I could feel the music vibrating under my feet. My stomach, filled with butterflies, but I couldn’t bare the suspense any longer. I was at the Dance Eisteddfod, having the best time of my life (as usual). Finally, it was time to hit the stage and as soon as I stepped forward, the ENERGY buzzed right through me, like a bee. It was only then, when I knew nothing could stop me. I got off the stage, feeling on top of the world. But now it was up to the adjudicator. Waiting for the results, all these voices stumbled through my head. They announced highly commended, then forth, third, second. Did we do it? Did we win? I couldn’t wait any longer, until…he finally announced, that we got FIRST PLACE! I was screaming with joy “WE DID IT!” Nothing could wipe the smile off my face. What a day! By: Freya E 5 Purple
