They praise God for the blessings that God gave them over the few years of their existence and that they were able to put two of their young men through seminary! We need to pray for the continued witness of Christ in that city! PRAY FOR: Debbie Hartzell of Faith Lutheran Church, Easton as she is serving a medical mission in Haiti the last two weeks of October! 2011 Area Missions Planned! At their summer meeting at Peace Lutheran Church, Scranton, on August 21, 2010, it was decided to proceed with plans for THREE mission endeavors that we can invite our area churches to participate in. Two of them we have done before, but one of them is new! It was decided that the following mission opportunities should be pursued and not neglected for the coming year. Perhaps we might not get big groups for all of them, but we should not be discouraged. Even small groups of 3 or 4 individuals can do fabulous work. + New Orleans Camp Restore Relief in January 2011 + Alaska VBS in the summer of 2011 + NEW initiative: Building Hope and Homes in Haiti. This is a very exciting new initiative by LCMS World Relief and Human Care. We would like to challenge our circuit churches to sponsor the building of 2 houses of $8000 each in Haiti. One this year and one next year! We can go down with a team and actually build them ourselves if we want. Just think of the blessing of helping a destitute homeless family with a two bedroom house with kitchen and indoor plumbing! PLEASE CONSIDER HOW YOU MIGHT PARTICIPATE IN ONE OF THESE MISSION OPPORTUNITIES! Call Pastor Bjornstad at 343-9828 if you would like any more information on these opportunities or to sign up!
