Day 1Boots the 2nd

Our boots finally arrived, and as proud parents we came in first thing to get his picture taken. Look how cute he is! You can’t see much but in a few days he’ll be a big fishy! However we can see the oil global which is what boots lives off of while in his egg. We changed his water today and all the days following with spring water and took his picture everyday. We were also excited because he was already in stage 11.

Day 2

This is our fishy. Boots Jabberwocky the Second on the second day. I believe he is in stage 19, or maybe twenty (according to the powerpoint thingy, stage 12 according to the book.) today we saw the cytoplasm the yolk sac and the oil glouble. He also started twitching a lot. We weren’t sure if this was good or bad.

Day 9

Heart Rate:

Stage 34 by the book. Wow his heart rate really shot up from yesterday! We better stop giving him so much candy. He didn’t seem to like this because we occasionally saw his jaw moving asking us for more candy. His tail now reached up to the top of his brain and he had a yellowish color which is common in this stage.

Stage 35 or 36 Ain’t he just the cutest! Boots should have hatched! Sigh, well he most likely will over the weekend. We could see his mouth clearly now and it moved often (he likes the vegetables we started to give him. His yolk sac is much smaller than what it was at the beginning and he thrashes about every few seconds.

Day 11

Heart Rate:

?

Boots hatched before the school day was over on day 10. unfortunately we didn’t know. However thanks to Emily Smith (the new godmother) we have a picture and a video. Sorry no heart rate though.

Now that boots is grown we have to feed him protists and oxydize the water using a special water filter, and every once in a while we have to change his water
