Turn a winning spirit into a compelling

advantage.

For a young athlete, there’s nothing quite like the memories of hitting a homerun, scoring a winning point as time expires or the embrace of teammates after a crucial victory...or even a loss.

These moments and many more, however brief, will truly last a lifetime.

It is in these moments we see our role, focused on educating the whole child, while introducing activities and programs that will spark a passion for the rest of his or her life.

It is in these moments we are guided by our Christian beliefs, allowing students to use the physical gifts God has blessed them with, while instilling a sense of teamwork, camaraderie and trust.

It is in these moments we see that while winning is not everything, it is still something to be recognized and celebrated when earned. We have excellent Christian athletes. We have winners already. But we aspire to more.

So, it is at this moment, that we need your help—to not only continue a winning spirit, but to win a competitive advantage for our athletes. In these pages, you have the opportunity to read about a bold vision for our athletic programs, one that I believe will make Lipscomb Academy one of the most compelling—and competitive—private schools in Middle Tennessee.

I look forward to partnering with you!

Greg J. Glenn Head of School

The Lipscomb Academy athletic program has a long history of changing the lives of young men and women, while competing at a championship level. But today we’re ready to set in motion a new vision that honors that past while shaping a sharper competitive advantage.

A vision that will focus on—...never losing sight of nurturing an athletic culture that is intentionally

transformational in the lives of Christian student athletes

...creating an environment where excellence is expected and pursued

...offering quality athletic programs that are a positive decision factor for families looking at Lipscomb Academy

A vision that will be built by—...developing programs with excellent coaches, where coach and student

interaction shapes character and has a lasting impact

…seeking the best possible professionals and instructors to guide students to success

...engaging and partnering with current parents, as well as the larger community, through camps and leagues

...developing programs and opportunities where those in our larger community are exposed to—and impressed with—Lipscomb Academy facilities and coaches

A vision that will nurture and developMustang pride through—...cultivating a more comprehensive K-12 approach to athletics, including

the development of teams and leagues for elementary students

...a program that starts building Mustang pride and skills earlier in the elementary grades, to build the future of Lipscomb Academy athletics

...a stronger collaboration with the Middle Tennessee sports community to be a leader in athletics that draws others to our school, by increasing the number of athletic camp offerings, forming Lipscomb Academy youth sports leagues, and partnering with local youth athletic programs and teams by offering training for local coaches and use of the new Lipscomb athletic facilities

We’re on our mark. Join us.

Stepping up our game.

“I’ve heard about some great new things that are planned in the new complex that will help us in our training and to be better and stronger athletes.”

William Phillips, Student Athlete

“Glenn loved Lipscomb because he knew it was about something bigger than himself. His goals of helping build Godly men and women will be continued in this new facility for generations to come.”

Alacia McCadams

Coach Glenn McCadams1947-2013

The new McCadams Athletic Center pays tribute to Glenn McCadams, Lipscomb Academy’s head football coach of 31 years. “Coach Mac” was a great coach to players on the field and equally a true mentor to all students off the field. His impact, guidance and friendship reached every student in some way—athletes or not—as he saw within each of them the potential to reach their goals and to succeed in their giftedness.

It was his wish that a new facility such as this would bring together many different sports, to create much-needed space for female athletes and to build a sports program for the academy that would be the pride of Tennessee.

He was a person of great faith and the lessons he taught on the field—attitude, work, hustle, pride and class—extended far beyond the game. His life’s work is reflected in the thousands of young people he inspired in so many different ways—truly his greatest legacies.

We’re ready to take sports to a new level with the programs and facilities our sports teams need to win—programs and facilities that will help us shape not only our competitive spirit, but shape the lives of students for years to come.

Phase I: Setting a new standard with the McCadams Athletic Center. The largest piece in our new athletic vision is the construction of an athletic center at the academy field. Here, we will create a new training facility for all sports that will enable all our student athletes a place to develop skills such as agility, strength and speed. The center will also provide much needed space for spring practices.

• a climate-controlled, turfed indoor practice facility, one of only three in Middle Tennessee

• new female locker rooms, with training space

• new public restrooms

• a large team meeting room

Construction of a large plaza area between the field house and stadium will provide excellent space for pre-game, alumni and school community events.

“This center will help tremendously in game preparation, individual skills work, and exposing young athletes to our program and our school.”

Scott Tillman, Head Football Coach, Lipscomb Academy

Phase II: Expanded weight room

Phase II: Redesigned locker rooms

Phase II: Strengthening programs with general stadium improvements.Renovation and expansion under the current home stadium will:

• expand and completely revitalize our weight training area, including new equipment, making it a resource for both male and female athletes

• provide a new co-ed athletic training area

• update and remodel our current Mustang locker rooms as well as the JV and visitor’s locker areas

• remodel and improve the concessions area

Phase III: Enhancing facilities for year-round sports.Artificial turf, enhanced lighting and other improvements will be installed at the current football field to enable our facilities to be used year-round by all current and future Mustangs, as well as the larger community, as they look to Lipscomb Academy for their children’s education and athletic experience.

“All sports will finally have one facility to train in, with space for male and female athletes.”

Hannah Hutcheson, Student Athlete

“I’m excited to be a Mustang and can’t wait for this—It’s gonna be awesome!”Sutton McGehee, Student Athlete

A new future for student athletes. The McCadams Athletic Center will be just the beginning of the many plans we have scheduled to further improve the academy’s sports facilities. Renovations and additions will complete the three-phase plan, allowing many more of our athletes to utilize state-of-the-art facilities for their specific sports.
