This course will contribute to a foundation in occupational and environmental medicine (OEM) for rural primary health care providers and will improve their ability to recognize, diagnose, treat, and prevent work-related injuries and illnesses, and to provide best available patient education. This program brings together expert instructional and research faculty, and regional practitioners, for a series of one hour lessons consisting of recorded lectures, reading materials, case studies, and key resources to improve and inform your practice. WHAT WE WILL COVER Current and emerging agricultural health hazards Environmental and occupational exposures unique to agricultural communities in the Pacific Northwest Region including Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and Alaska Latest research and best practices to provide healthcare solutions and resources important to regional issues Pesticide exposures in adults and children Heat-related illnesses Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) Work-related asthma WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE Primary care physicians, pediatricians, physician assistants, advanced practice providers, family practice physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, farm worker health clinicians, rural health care professionals, employee health directors, emergency room and emergency response professionals, and public and community health educators.
