INTRODUCTION

As an implementation of working plan of Indonesia-Netherland partnership program in order to

improve the feed quality, Training of Trainer (TOT) was held involving the leaders of Farmer group, project

field officers, feed officers from cooperatives, demo farmers, the staffs of feed unit and dairy cooperatives

managers, extension officers from the services, officers from Livestock Services of West Java Provinces,

staffs of Feed Directorate of Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health Services and students

whose task was to monitor an experiment utilizing cattle feed forage.

The TOT was run by involving 2 groups taking at different places, that for the group-1 with the

participants from KPGS Cikajang-Garut the TOT was held at KPGS office in Garut and for group-2 with

the participants originating from KPSP Saluyu Kuningan, the TOT was hel at Hotel Purnamadi, Kuningan.

The TOT instructors involved the lecturers from Animal Faculty of IPB. Consultant and the staffs from

the Project.

The invitation of TOT activities was made by the Feed Director of Directorate General of Animal

Farming and Health. The invitation of the activity can be seen in Attachment-1 for TOT KPGS Cikajang

Garut and Attachment-2 for TOT KPSP Saluyu Kuningan.

The objective of the TOT activity is as follows:

OBJECTIVES

1. To refresh the participants’ knowledge on ruminant nutrition.

2. To improve the (practical) knowledge on the diagnosis on feeding problem on the farm level (cow signals, feed signals): feed evaluation and assessment tools.

3. To obtain the knowledge on improved dairy ration.

4. To obtain/refresh the knowledge on forage to be introduced and improved fodder production.

METHOD

The TOT was held with the composition between theory and practice of 50%:50%. The

tutorial/presentation activities were done in the class in the morning, while the practice was conducted in

the demo farm in the afternoon. There was a dynamic discussion both in the class and at the demo farm

during the practice.

TIME & VENUE

The TOT was accomplished in 2-full days for each group/cooperative, and the realization of the

activities for the two groups/cooperatives is as follows

1. For KPGS Cikajang, Garut, it was held at KPGS Office, Cikajang on 12-13 November 2015.

2. For KPSP Saluyu, Kuningan, it was held at Hotel Grand Purnama, located at Jl.Siliwangi No.49,

Kuningan District, on 17-18 November 2015.
