Buffalo Wild Wings Summer Fundraiser
I just want to start by saying THANK
YOU to everyone who came to our
summer fundraiser at Buffalo Wild
Wings!
At first, we were a bit nervous about
how the event would turn out. After
all, it was summer; we assumed
people were on vacation or too busy
savoring the last few days of vacation
at the beach or boardwalk. But the
event turned out to be a success!
People flooded into the restaurant,
quickly filling up the tables. Waiters
frantically moved around trying to
accommodate for the mass crowd
that appeared. The number of people
who attended exceeded our
expectations and helped raise
about $100 for M/N Tetanus.
There were great food, a lively
atmosphere, and many people to talk
to. The event was a success; thank
you all again for attending.

On August 30, NBTHS Key Club board
members attended a District
Conference Meeting (DCM) at
Bonefish Grill hosted by our
Lieutenant Governor, Farwa Shakeel.
Thanks to Farwa's excellent planning
and the 17 board members from all
District 11 schools who came, the
DCM was a success.
At first, I was a bit nervous─ I didn't
know what to expect. I imagined a
bunch of official people with formal
clothes, ties, high quality notebooks
August DCM at Bonefish Grill
and pens. I entered with a serious
face and stiff posture that belied my
nervousness. Turns out, I was
nervous for no reason. The people
there were friendly, accepting, and
hilarious.
Although the food was delicious and
the people were great, we did have
work to do. At the DCM Farwa
Shakeel relayed to us important
information on upcoming events and
news about Key Club that will be
discussed in this newsletter.

enthusiastic smiles showed us that our
hard work helping at the BQQ truly paid off. It was a pleasure helping.

On September 14, NBTHS Key
Club helped at a PTO BBQ at Veterans Park. Not only did we help set up tables and put out
food, but we also had the opportunity to play with the kids who attended the BBQ. From running around the playground to swinging on the swing sets, Key Club members had a lot of fun.
The highlight of our day was the necklace/bracelet making, where we helped kids make necklaces with different types of pastas. Before the BBQ started, the volunteers had to color the pastas
with different food dyes and leave them out in the sun to dry. There were delicious food, great people to talk to, and children to play with, but most importantly, there were happy kids. Their
On September 20, NBTHS Key Club board
members attended an RTC. The hour drive to
Parsippany Hills High School was definitely worth
it. At the RTC we met with all the LTGs and LTG
Executive officers; we also met with various key
club members from far away schools. Together we
exchanged ideas and discussed possible
fundraising opportunities. It was amazing to see
so many dedicated members from all over New
Jersey interact with each other.
The training sessions were my favorite part. There
were four sessions, and for each session, we
attended different workshops that helped enhance
our knowledge on Key Club. NBTHS Key Club
board members spread out during these sessions,
attending workshops that gave us tips on
fundraising, public speaking, DCON contests, and
running for high-up positions. We also attended a
workshop with the District Executive Board
members. They trained us for our specific roles as
board members.
We're excited to put the knowledge we gained
from the RTC to use; we have plenty of new
fundraising ideas, volunteering opportunities, and
events to help our Key Club grow.

What is it?
The title speaks for itself: Students
Change Hunger is a project to help
feed the less fortunate. It's
sometimes hard to think about
starvation in America. Nearly in
every square mile, you can find a
handful of fast food restaurants,
grocery stores, and food trucks.
Food is everywhere!
Unfortunately, food's ubiquity
belies its unavailability. Millions of
people each year die from
starvation: it's hard to think that
something so pervasive is
unavailable to so many people.
Hunger is a serious issue and
hundreds of schools are starting to
help by collecting canned goods
and non-perishable items. And I'm
proud to say, North Brunswick Key
Club has joined the fight against
hunger!
From Monday, September 15 to
Friday, November 21, NBTHS Key
Club will be collecting canned
goods and non-perishable items.
Anything from instant cook rice, to
canned soup is acceptable.
Students Change Hunger
Important!
Do NOT give the items to Mr. Clark
or to the main office; materials
need to be given directly to Mrs.
Pineiro or Mrs. Passner. We
encourage everyone to bring at
least 5 items.
What do we get?
We are competing against other
schools to see which school can
collect the most canned goods.
Fortunately for us, we signed up
early and got a 100 lbs bonus. At
the end, the winning school will be
presented with rewards from its
local food bank.

On Sunday, October 12, one of New
Jersey Key Club's biggest events will
take place: Fall Rally. Fall Rally is an
event where hundreds of Key Club
members all over New Jersey meet up
and discuss Key Club goals and future
projects. And, the best part is, it's at Six
Flags!
This year for NBTHS Key Club, Fall Rally
dues are $45 or $10 if you have a season
pass. You must hand in your dues before
Tuesday, September 30th, but we only
accept the first 45 people.
Fall Rally will be from 7:45 to 4:45. For
those who want to stay at the park after
4pm must have a note from their parents
giving permission not to ride the bus
back and that they have a ride home.

Thanks to our webmaster Suvin Gamage, we now
have a new Key Club website. The website is nicely
organized into different tabs to help you navigate
with ease. There are a calendar tab with important
future events, an event sign up tab, pictures and
videos tab, and even a member hours tab that has a
list of all Key Club members and the number of
hours they each have. There is also a roster tab that
has a list of all NBTHS Key Club members.
This year, we'll be using this website a lot; it'll help
us reach out to all NBTHS Key Club members
outside of school, and help people stay up to date
with Key Club events. We understand that many of
our members have other responsibilities and might
not be able to come to every meeting; so, the
website will be used to keep our members
constantly informed.
