Queridos hermanos y hermanas,
En este domingo de Adviento, escuchamos de San
José, el esposo de María, como modelo de fe y espera
paciente. También es un ejemplo de cómo responder bajo
angustia y confusión. San José estaba comprometido para
casarse con María. José descansa sus esperanzas y deseos,
en la joven María, para una familia y una vida juntos.
Cuando descubrió que estaba embarazada antes de su
matrimonio, Joseph debió haber experimentado cierta
angustia y tuvo que tomar algunas decisiones difíciles:
según la ley judía, tenía derecho a hacer públicas las
noticias y avergonzar a la joven doncella y a su familia, o él
podría divorciarse de ella en silencio. De cualquier
manera, tenía planes de dejar a María. Sin embargo, Dios
envió a su ángel a José, pidiéndole que considerara una
tercera opción: llevar a María a su casa como su esposa.
En lugar de confiar en su propia intuición y renunciar a sus
planes de tener una familia normal, José tuvo que dar un
gran salto de fe y esperanza en el Señor. Tuvo que esperar
y observar durante años para ver qué fue de este niño. La
fe de José debe haber sido probada muchas veces a lo largo
de la vida de Jesús, sin embargo, él confió y esperó. Es por
eso que, junto con Juan el Bautista y María, San José es
una gran figura de Adviento. Tuvo el coraje de esperar y
esperó.
En nuestras luchas diarias, las pequeñas y las grandes,
Dios nos pide que le pidamos, que confiemos en Él, que
tengamos el coraje de esperar en Él, en lugar de depender
de los poderes de este mundo. El hecho de que Dios sea
fiel no defrauda y hace que nuestra esperanza se cumpla.
¡Oh, ven Emmanuel, Dios con nosotros! Que tengan una
semana bendecida.
