STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION

Luke 24:36 Peace be with you.

Peace! Isn't that what we all long for? How to obtain it?

St. John tells us in the second reading (1Jn2) that if we obey the commandments and keep His word, the love of God is perfected in us. Pray to Jesus to open your minds to understand the Scriptures (Lk 24:45). Study God's word, keep His commandments. and in

doing so, begin to experience the peace you seek.

SAINT OF THE WEEK Saint Conrad of Parzham’s Story

Conrad spent most of his life as porter in Altoetting, Bavaria, letting people

into the friary and indirectly encouraging them to let God into

their lives. His parents, Bartholomew and Gertrude Birndorfer, lived near

Parzham, Bavaria. In those days, this region was recovering from the

Napoleonic wars. A lover of solitary prayer and a peacemaker as a young man, Conrad joined the

Capuchins as a brother. He made his profession in 1852 and was assigned to the friary in Altoetting. That city’s

shrine to Mary was very popular; at the nearby Capuchin friary there was a lot of work for the porter, a job Conrad

held for 41 years. At first, some of the other friars were jealous that such a young friar held this important job.

Conrad’s patience and holy life overcame their doubts. As porter, he dealt with many people, obtaining many of the friary supplies and generously providing for the poor who came to the door. He treated them all with the courtesy Francis expected of his followers. Conrad’s helpfulness

was sometimes unnerving. Once Father Vincent, seeking quiet to prepare a sermon, went up the belltower of the

church. Conrad tracked him down when someone wanting to go to confession specifically requested Father

Vincent. Conrad also developed a special rapport with the

children of the area. He enthusiastically promoted the Seraphic Work of Charity, which aided neglected

children. Conrad spent hours in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. He regularly asked the Blessed Mother to

intercede for him and for the many people he included in his prayers. The ever-patient Conrad was canonized in

1934. His liturgical feast is celebrated on April 21.

GOSPEL REFLECTIONS When new employees join a company, it’s common

to have an orientation to bring new people “on board.” A new employee needs to understand both

the past and the future history of the company. How can they connect with what’s gone before?

How can they be part of the company’s mission for the future?

In today’s Gospel, Jesus conducts a kind of “Christian orientation” for his startled and frightened disciples—most of whom are

encountering him for the first time as the risen Lord. He first reassures them that he—Jesus—is the one they knew before the crucifixion. But there have been a few changes! He’s not a ghost, he is truly

alive. And he shares a meal with his friends to prove it. But they have their doubts anyway—perhaps

some of the same doubts shared by Luke’s communities years later: How could Jesus be the promised Messiah, and have suffered the terrible

death by crucifixion? And so Jesus patiently interprets the

Hebrew Scriptures to explain his mission as God’s “Suffering Servant.”

But the past is only preparation for the future! The message of Good News must be preached to the

ends of the earth. The disciples are now his witnesses, commissioned to carry his message to the

world. And so are we who gather at our Easter Eucharist with the Risen Lord today!

Easter Stewardship Reflection 2021

The pandemic continues. Even if at reduced rates here in the US, we read about its resurgence

across the globe. Here we sit, anxiously awaiting a return to normal.

I’ve been asking, “How is God at work in this pandemic? What is He calling us to?” I think God is

using this COVID event to call us to live our lives differently. So, instead of hoping for a quick

return to what we remember as “normal,” let’s reimagine a new future. A future that trusts in the

promise of Easter. A future filled with hope and joy. A future where God is first in every area of

our lives.

How do we put God first in the midst of the cacophony of every-day life? We continue to engage

the three pillars of the practice of our faith:

Pray – At all times. Offer the first moments though out your day to God in prayer.

Fast – Detach from the desire to get more things. Let nothing come before God.

Give Alms – Declare your brotherhood with the poor and your trust in God to provide.

Live in the confidence of the Easter promise, the overwhelmingly awesome gift of freedom and

eternal life. In humble gratefulness and all humility, put God first in every facet of your life—including

with your money, and find the peace that you truly seek.

CHURCH SEATING CHART & INFORMATION

Greetings St. Anthony Parishioners;

We are now celebrating Mass back in our Church. Please be aware that it is critically important that we adhere to and follow the CDC recommendations as it applies to Social Distancing and other safety guidelines.

We are only able to safely seat 100 parishioners per Mass inside the Church, and another 25 parishioners in the lobby. Also, we must maintain at least 6 ft. from each Individual or Family Group. Please see attach chart as a

guide. For your health and safety we are sanitizing the Church between each Mass. It is recommended that we allow at least 30 minutes for the sanitizing chemicals to dissipate. The church doors will not be opened until 15 minutes

before Mass. We will continue to check temperatures and mask or face covering is required. If you feel sick or exhibit any

symptoms of a cold or flu, please stay home. If you have ever tested positive for Covid-19 please do not attend Mass until you have been cleared with a negative test.

Please realize safeguards are necessary to keep us safe and healthy. We thank you for your cooperation and apologize for any inconvenience.
