That we have the courage to love someone that I don’t like, I don’t know or doesn’t look like me. “I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another." (John 13:34) It is easy to love someone when they love you back. But it takes strength and courage to love someone when we feel unappreciated, used or feel our opinion doesn’t matter. It takes courage to “love my neighbor” when he may be someone I don’t like, someone I don’t know or someone that doesn’t look like me.

Message from the desk of the Pastor

My dear people of God,

“Love one another as I have loved you”

John the Evangelist writes: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

There is no greater glory and honor that one can offer than the willing sacrifice of one’s life for the good of another. A mother who loves her child will do everything in her power to nurture, protect and save the life of the child. A soldier devoted to his country’s welfare, will endure any hardship and suffering and willingly sacrifice his own life to defend his people. God the Father showed the depth of his love and mercy by willingly offering his only begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ, as the atoning sacrifice for the sin of the world.

That is why Jesus gave his disciples a new commandment. This new commandment transforms the old commandment with the love and mer-cy which the lord Jesus poured out for us on the Cross of Calvary. He frees us from slavery to sin so we can live as sons and daughters of God. The distinctive mark of the followers of Jesus is love—a love not bound by fear, greed or selfishness—but a love full of compassion, mercy, kindness and goodness. The cross of Jesus is the only way to pardon, peace, forgiveness and reconciliation. If we embrace his love and truth and allow his Holy Spirit to purify and transform our hearts and minds, then we will find the inner freedom, joy and strength we need to love without measure, to forgive without limit, and to serve without reward.

Lord Jesus, your love knows no bounds and surpasses everything I could desire and long for. Fill me with the fire of your love and with the joy of your Holy Spirit that I may freely serve my neighbor with loving kindness, tenderhearted mercy and generous care for their well being.

God bless you.

Sincerely yours in Christ, Fr. Joseph

Dear Parishioners, On Mother’s Day, May 12, Catholic Daughters, Court Immaculate Mary (#2134 Most Holy Trinity and St. Anthony’s) will again be participating in the 2019 fundraiser for the Pregnancy Help Center. On that day, we will be handing out baby bottles in the back of church after every mass. Gail Thomas will be the liaison for Most Holy Trinity and Peggy Keillor for St. Anthony’s. We hope you will want to participate. Here how the BBB works.

Mother’s Day, May 12 – Father’s Day, June 16

The Pregnancy Help Center (PHC) will have its eighth annual Baby Bottle Boomerang, starting on Mother’s Day, May 12 th, and end-ing on Father’s Day, June 16th. The money raised will benefit the Pregnancy Help Center and all sponsored programs. Here’s how it works—Each family (or individ-ual) takes a baby bottle home with them and puts their spare change, checks made out to Pregnancy Help Center, or dollars in the bot-tle. When the bottle is full or on Father’s Day, the bottle is turned in to your church. (Some people empty their small bottle into anoth-er container and continue to col-lect change until the end of the Boomerang.) The collected bottles are then brought to the PHC by the liaisons for deposit. A total giving amount report will be sent to each church or organization. Last year, 68 local churches and businesses participated and raised over $61,000 for the Pregnancy Help Center through the Baby Bottle Boomerang.

Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean He no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? -Romans 8:35

Have you ever been in a situation where you have asked yourself, "Where is God in times like this?" or "Why did God make this happen, I'm so mad at Him for this." It's ok if you have because I have been there too and God taught me something; He isn't in any of those things that bring devastation to our lives. God also taught me that there is a reason why He "lets" those things happen to us. There are people who say, "Where is your God?? Wouldn't He help you, but where is He??" As if God wanted these horrible things to happen to us. I truly believe that God isn't found in any of these things that the world has to offer to us because we need to keep our eyes on Him in order to find Him, especially in times of trouble. God does things for a reason and He slowly reveals that reason to us once He brings us out of the storm. Remember: When it storms, a beautiful rainbow appears after. When you find the time, please listen to the song “Oh Lord” by Therapy Session. "It's easy to blame God, but harder to fix things. We look in the sky like, "why aren't You listening?" Watching the news in our living rooms on the big screens and talking about "if God's really real, then where is He?" You see, the same God that you say might not even exist becomes real to us, but only when we're dying in bed. When you’re healthy it's like, we don't really care for Him then. Leave me alone God, I'll call You when I need You again.”

Just as in each of our lives, we always need to begin again, to get up again, to rediscover the mean-ing of the goal of our lives, so also for the great human family it is always necessary to rediscover the common horizon toward which we are journey-ing.… The model of this spiritual disposition, of this way of being and journeying in life, is the Virgin Mary. A simple girl from the coun-try who carries within her heart the fullness of hope in God! In her womb, God’s hope took flesh, it became man, it became history: Jesus Christ. Her Magnificat is the canticle of the People of God on a journey, and of all men and women who hope in God and in the power of his mercy. Let us allow ourselves to be guided by her, she who is Mother, a Mamma, and knows how to guide us.

Prayer after Communion

Soul of Christ, sanctify me. Body of Christ, save me.

Blood of Christ, inebriate me. Water from the side of Christ,

wash me. Passion of Christ, strengthen me.

O Good Jesus, hear me. Within Thy wounds hide me. Suffer me not to be separated

from thee. From the malignant enemy

defend me. In the hour of my death call me.

And bid me come unto Thee, That with all Thy saints,

I may praise thee Forever and ever.

Amen.

For those who are dying:

That they be treated with respect, care, and Christian love

that reflects the gift of their lives;

We pray to the Lord.
