Kingdom Mission The call to expand God’s Kingdom is ever apparent in scripture, particularly in terms of the evangelism of the lost world. Yet, there is an aspect to the mission of God’s Kingdom that is often neglected by many churches and Christians; that is serving the needy in society. While I willingly concede that it is more important to get people saved for eternity than to feed them for a day, the fact remains that we are called to demonstrate the love of Christ to the world through our good works. Good works does not only refer to the propagation of the Gospel but also, as Jesus taught, to meet the needs of the hungry, sick, imprisoned and lonely (Matthew 25:35-45). In the 45th verse of that passage, Jesus equates the ministration to the least in society as to serving Him directly. This is an incredibly deep revelation, in that when we serve the broken, the impoverished, the marginalised and victims of society, we are, in God’s estimation, serving our Lord Jesus. So with that understanding, if you want to see Jesus more, He can be found in the least and outcasts of our world. Thus we can not neglect this component of the Church’s mission. Evangelism, discipleship and servanthood must operate as the heart beat and function of the Church. I am convinced that they are intertwined, in that; giving to the poor, whether it’s food, blankets, a cup of coffee or just a gentle heart to listen, opens the door to share the good news of God’s grace. Church attendance is mandatory according to scripture, along with giving of our tithes and offerings as well as serving in the house of God. This is expected for the child of God but I want to challenge you to look at this other dimension of your life and see whether you are contributing Continued on Page 2 1 April 2016 Experience new life in Christ! Kingdom Mission

The call to expand God’s Kingdom is ever apparent in scripture, particularly in terms of the evangelism of the lost world.

This is expected for the child of God but I want to challenge you to look at this other dimension of your life and see whether you are contributing

to serving the needs of those who Jesus spoke of. It’s easy to give money for the needs of others and that’s important but it has to extend beyond that. They should also see our hands and our feet, the compassion in our eyes and the love in our voices.

We were challenged by the ministry of Br Matt Maddix recently and few could deny the truth of his messages. Let them not just be pretty sermons, to go to waste with just ecclesiastical enjoyment but let us be doers of the Word and not hearers only. Light has to shine out of the Church to pierce the darkness of this world and this mission is for every single person who claims to be a Christian. Remember; “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” James 1:27
