Living in this nation with all of the benefits and opportunities afforded to us, this is simply an understatement. Let me give you some statistics to put this in perspective: If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a bed to sleep in you are richer than 4,769,442,362 people in the world. You’re in the top 25%. You are blessed. If you have any money in the bank, some in your wallet, or just some spare change, you are richer than 5,850,515,964 people in the world. You are among the top 8% of the world’s wealthy. You are blessed. If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture or the pangs of starvation, you are better off than five hundred million people in our world today who have experienced those things. You are blessed. If you can attend a worship service without the fear of harassment, arrest, torture or death you are more blessed than three billion people on this planet. What we’re doing right now is illegal for three billion people somewhere in the world. You are blessed. Regardless of our situation, the old adage my parents always used to tell me rings true; “There’s always somebody else worse off than you. So count your blessings.” We used to sing an old hymn: “Count your blessings” and count them “one by one”. Not only should you count your blessings but if you have been blessed in any way, shape or form, you ought to be a blessing to others. Luke 19 tells the story of Zacchaeus, a tax collector who everyone despised because of his occupation which inferred corruption. When Jesus approaches him and decides to come to his house for fellowship, it so moved him because the Messiah was showing him mercy and grace, that he was inspired to restore all that he had taken by unethical means. Jesus blessed this man and he in turn was going to be a blessing back to others. I am convinced that God blesses us, not to heap to ourselves and become hoarders of His blessings, but He gives to us so that we can give to others. Whether it be with money, friendships, love, acceptance, salvation. If God has gifted us in any of these areas then we ought to give out to others in kind. Not only is this what God intended but if we don’t allow the blessings of God to flow, then they could very well stop at some point. We are called to be channels for the River of God and not dams. Furthermore, God told Abraham in Genesis 22 that he will be blessed but the blessing will not stop with him but it will flow through him that all the nations of the earth will be blessed through him. So this month and hereafter, my challenge to you is to bless others with what God has blessed you with and see if God will not replenish with even greater blessings. 1 Peter 2:9 tells us that we are a chosen generation for the purpose of giving out, to show forth the praises of God. We are blessed to be a blessing. Pastor Stan Harvey

2012

Hello and welcome to The Pentecostals of Sydney where you can experience new life in Christ!Blessed to be a Blessing!

We are blessed. Living in this nation with all of the benefits and opportunities afforded to us, this is simply an understatement. Let me give you some statistics to put this in perspective:

If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a bed to sleep in you are richer than 4,769,442,362 people in the world.

Whether it be with money, friendships, love, acceptance,

salvation.

CalledThere is no greater time, no greater need in 2012 than for you and me to embrace the fact that we have been called for such a time as today!  Not tomorrow, next week, next month or next year.  My time is now.  Your time is now.

Just take a look around you at the many people who don’t have a personal relationship with Jesus, who are waiting for someone to give them hope…who are waiting to discover that God loves them unconditionally.

As we are now already two months into 2012, I wonder where we are at and if we have embraced the truth that I am called for such a time as right now!

I am sure if we sat down together, each one of us could tell of the highs and lows of the past few months; of times when we knew we had pleased God and other times when we had let Him down.

I am sure that there will be those who are discouraged about their purpose in this life.

Let me share two verses of Scripture with you….

“Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.” (Micah 7:8)

And…

“But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” (Job 23:10)

Regardless of where I find myself today, even if I am sitting in darkness, the Lord has promised that He will be my light.  He knows me and He knows you!  When we put our lives in His hands and yield to His will, everything that comes in or out of our life, He knows about!  Nothing, absolutely nothing, happens in my life that God doesn’t know about or allow.

Be encouraged…you are called!

Top 5 CD RecommendationsBy Stephanie Hackathorn, The POS Music Director

As We Worship - William McDowellThe ultimate prayer room CD. It features two of my all time favourite songs - Wrap Me In Your Arms and Closer.

It’s Not Over - Ricardo SanchezBirthed in August of 2011 this moving CD is from a largely unknown artist in Australia. The feature song, It's Not Over, gives us the theme of the project -When you're back's against the wall and you feel like you're ready to give in stand up and declare- It's not over!

Freedom Is - Trent CoryFeaturing two of our most loved songs: We Praise Your Name and Healer, Trent Cory has created a CD packed with your typical Sunday praise and worship. I recommend this CD to anyone who may be new in church and wants to start listening to some good christian music.

The Essential - Kirk FranklinKirk Franklin's best of - What more can be said? Not for the faint heart this CD is definitely a steal if you enjoy his music. I recommend going online and listening to a few samples before purchasing however as most of his songs can be put in the R&B/Pop category.

A Deeper Level - Israel & New BreedI personally feel that this CD is one of Israel Houghton's greatest accomplishments. It features some great songs that can be used during your personal prayer time. Songs such as - Say So, We Have Overcome and I Will Search can be found on this item. Another great purchase if you are wanting to start building a Christian music repertoire.
