Up-to-the-minute technology has been built-in to make every journey in the Verso easier, safer and more enjoyable.

The Cornering Assist Monitor, which is part of the full map satellite navigation system*, makes it easier to pull out of junctions where you don’t have a clear view of the intersection you are joining. A ‘prism lens’ camera outside the car transmits images of the road ahead – 20 metres in both directions – onto the centre console display screen.

The full map satellite navigation* makes getting to even the most remote destinations a straightforward affair. Just key in your destination on the touch screen and the system provides audio and visual directions in a choice of eight languages. The system incorporates Road Data System (RDS) traffic information and has a range of settings to suit your exact needs.

The Rear View Monitor System with Park Assist* makes parking easy, even in tight spaces. The system provides a visual warning guide to obstacles behind the vehicle.

Verso’s suspension system has been engineered to deliver a satisfyingly smooth ride. MacPherson strut front and torsion beam rear suspension work together to provide excellentstraight-line stability at high speeds and total composure around corners while the hydraulic power steering system has been specially tuned to ensure direct feedback for optimum control and a confident, positive steering feel. With a minimum turning radius of 5.8 metres, Verso is impressively agile around narrow city streets or out on theopen road.

Verso is available with a choice of transmissions. There’s the ultra smooth five- and six-speed manual transmissions or the innovative MultiMode which enables you to switch between sequential manual and automatic operation. MultiMode (available if you specify the 1.8 litre VVT-i engine on grade T3 and above) features ‘Comfort’ and ‘Sport’ modes, enabling you to choose between smooth, fuel efficient performance and a more sporty driving experience.

Power and torqueThe 2.2 litre D-4D 180 engine is ahead of its class, with 400 Nm/2000–2600 rpm of torque and 177 DIN hp (130kW)/3600 rpm of power.

Fuel economyPrecise combustion control helps maximise efficiency, which results in an excellent fuel economy figure of 42 mpg combined.

Introducing the Verso’s state-of-the-art177 DIN hp 2.2 litre D-4D engine.

Generating 400 Nm of torque from 2000–2600 rpm, the 177 DIN hp engine delivers exceptional responsiveness through a new six-speed transmission, no matter what driving conditions you face. Its Variable Nozzle Turbocharger is electrically activated, increasing overall efficiency. And, with the use of piezoelectric injectors in the common rail system (which allow fuel to be injected at a much higher pressure) combustion control is made extremely precise – culminating in power and torque which outperforms any comparable diesel on the market.

There’s no compromise on emissions either. UsingToyota’s unique D-CAT (Diesel Clean Advanced Technology) system, it produces the lowest combined nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) emissions compared to any other diesel. NOx levels are 50% below the requirements of the latest Euro 4 legislation while PM levels are 90% below.

At the heart of the D-CAT engine is the highly sophisticated Diesel Particulate NOx Reduction (DPNR) system, which simultaneously reduces both NOx and PM emissions to significantly lower levels.

The engine delivers outstanding fuel economy too, at a remarkable 42 mpg combined. And, with a top speed of128 mph*, blends power, response, refinement and low emissions in a way that offers real reward for both the environment and the driver.

Central to the engine’s exceptional performance is an electronic control unit which balances fuel injection, pressure, timing and volume according to the way you are driving. The control unit works with the common rail injection system, which injects finely atomised fuel at high pressure directly into the combustion chamber.

Whether you’re on your way to work, heading down the motorway on a family trip or enjoying a peaceful Sunday morning drive, Verso’s VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing – with intelligence) gives you the power to enjoy yourself behind the wheel.

VVT-i delivers outstanding torque, right across the rev range, for a smooth, responsive performance. The system responds to the way you drive and the demands being made on the engine, by electronically optimising the timing and duration of the intake valve opening. This gives you power when you want it, plus maximum engine efficiency for minimum fuel consumption and exhaust emissions (complies with the latest Euro 4 emissions regulations).

The 1.8 litre VVT-i delivers 170 Nm/4200 rpm of torque and 129 DIN hp/6000 rpm of power. Acceleration is impressive too: 0–62 mph is achieved in just 10.8 seconds (manual transmission) or 12.7 seconds (MultiMode). Top speed is 121 mph and average fuel economy is 36.7 mpg –manual transmission or 37.7 mpg – MultiMode.

Verso can also be specified with a 1.6 litre VVT-i engine which delivers 150 Nm/3800 rpm of torque and110 DIN hp/6000 rpm of power. Top speed for the1.6 litre engine is 109 mph, with 0–62 mph in12.7 seconds. Average fuel economy is 37.7 mpg.

A state-of-the-art engine immobiliser is fitted as standard on all Verso VVT-i petrol and D-4D diesel engines and prevents the engine from being started unless the legitimate key is used. The immobiliser is linked to an antenna coil in the key slot which reads a unique ID code transmitted by the transponder chip embedded in the key.

Easy foldingThe Toyota Easy Flat-7 seat system enables rear seats to be individually folded flat. Operation is via levers which are designed and positioned for maximum ease of use.

Whether you need maximum seating, maximum load space, or anything in between, the Verso is as adaptable as you need it to be, providing plenty of space and comfort, whichever combination you choose. With seating design this easy to use, the Verso takes versatility to new levels.


Create...

With the Toyota Easy Flat-7 seat system, the second and third row seats can be independently folded away, creating a flat space. Each seat has an easy-to-use lever, which enables you to fold it down into the vehicle.

The rear seats fold flat easily and simply. Operation is via levers which are designed and positioned for maximum ease of use. Seat shown is from second row.

Front and second row seats are fully adjustable for cushion tilt and backwards/forwards slide. Additionally, the front seats are height adjustable. An easy-to-use walk-in mechanism enables second row seats to move forwards for easy access to the third row seats.

With the third row seats retracted, there are five individual seats, plus an impressive 397 litres of flat luggage space.

In two-seat mode, with the second and third row seats retracted into the vehicle, you have a completely flat load floor and 1563 litres of load space. That’s plenty of space for a mountain bike, surfboards and all kinds of large, awkwardly-shaped items.

Safety through technology

VSC§

VSC acts to reduce excessive slippage of the tyres, helping you maintain control of the car.

ABS and EBD These two systems combine to prevent the wheels from locking to help enable you to steer safely around obstacles as you come to a stop.

TRCTRC detects wheel spin in the drive wheels and automatically reduces engine power to suppress the spin and help restore traction.

Park Assist*

The optional Park Assist system with back guide monitor provides detailed visual parking and reversing guidance.

Cornering Assist Monitor*

The Cornering Assist Monitor increases your range of vision by 34˚ on both sides, enabling you to see approximately 20 metres in either direction.

As befits a car of its quality, Verso is fitted with a range of advanced technology safety systems designed to maximise driver control and help enable you to steer clear of potential danger.

High performance brakingFront and rear disc brakes, with the front discs ventilated, plus ABS with EBD combine to provide well controlled, high performance braking. ABS and EBDAnti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution are standard on Verso. ABS helps to prevent the wheels from locking up when braking on a slippery road by electronically balancing the braking force between all four wheels to match the level of grip of each one. In turn, EBD optimises brake force distribution between the front and rear and left and right wheels. Together, the two systems help prevent the wheels from locking and enable you to steer around obstacles as you come to a stop.

Brake Assist (BA)Linked to VSC and TRC, BA automatically supports emergency braking if the brakes are applied quickly but without sufficient pressure on the pedal. It does this by measuring how fast and hard the brake pedal is depressed and then, if appropriate, increasing braking force.

Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)VSC actively intervenes when it senses that the vehicle is at risk of sliding out of control – going too quickly around a corner, for example. It works by automatically applying the brake to the appropriate wheel, to bring the car back to its intended path. VSC is a standard feature on T3, T Spirit and T180.

Traction Control (TRC)Linked to VSC, if you accelerate too hard or cause the drive wheels to lose grip and start spinning, TRC will instantly recognise what is happening. The system will automatically use braking and reduced torque to help restore traction. TRC adjusts levels of power to each of the drive wheels independently for optimum vehicle control.

Cornering Assist MonitorThe introduction of the Cornering Assist Monitor is a European first. When the car approaches a partially obscured intersection, the system transmits images of approximately 20 metres in both directions to the full map satellite navigation* display screen.

Park AssistWhen you arrive at your destination, the Rear View Monitor System with Park Assist* makes parking easy, even in tight spaces. The system provides a visual warning guide to obstacles behind the vehicle.

Nine SRS airbagsSRS driver and passenger airbags, which are standard on all models, are an integral part of occupant protection. In the event of a frontal collision, they inflate very quickly – in two stages, depending on the extent of the impact – to help protect the driver and front passenger.

Verso is the first car in its segment equipped with a driver’s knee airbag. In the event of afront-end collision, it helps to protect the driver from injury against the steering column. For further protection, there are also SRS side airbags for the front seats. SRS curtain shield airbags* help protect front and second row occupants from head injuries during side collisions.

Head rests and ELR seat belts for all seatsAll seven seats have three-point Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) seat belts. Front seat belts incorporate pre-tensioners which instantly draw the seat belt back at the moment of impact and force-limiters that release belt tension when a specific load is reached. A two-stage visual and audio seat belt warning system is fitted as standard.

Together with the SRS airbags, the overall effect is to help maximise safety while reducing the likelihood of chest injuries.

Outstanding collision resistanceThe Verso features a strong, rigid body structure, which is combined with Toyota’s MICS (Minimal Intrusion Cabin System) in which components are designed to help absorb and disperse energy to minimise cabin distortion.

Whiplash Injury LesseningFront seats have been specifically designed and positioned to help reduce injury to the vertebrae in the neck in a rear-end collision.

The safest car in its class

Seat beltsFront seat belts with pre-tensioners and force-limiters help reduce the likelihood of chest injuries in an accident.

Whiplash Injury LesseningThe WIL front seat design helps minimise the risk of neck whiplash injuries in low-speed, rear-end collisions.

Safety cellVerso’s occupants are protected by an energy-absorbing body with front and rear crumple zones.

Euro NCAPEuro NCAP is an independent safety assessment programme that is backed by five European governments, the European Commission and motoring and consumer organisations in every country in Europe. It provides a realistic, expert and reliable measurement for the safety performance of new cars. The maximum five- star ranking by Euro NCAP is testament to the design, engineering and build quality of the new Verso.

The new Verso has been awarded the maximum five-star ranking byEuro NCAP, with a total of 35 points out of a possible 37.

ISOfix seat fixingsThe second row outer seats feature special anchor points to ensure the safe and convenient installation of ISOfix child seats (available from your Toyota centre).

Verso’s combination of dynamic style and outstanding practicality gives you the flexibility and space to be free, to have fun and express yourself.

Wherever you’re headed, the Verso T2 model’s generous equipment levels make every journey a pleasure. There’s manual air conditioning, a tilt and telescopic steering wheel, a six-speaker audio system with CD player and power-operated front windows with anti-trap function. For convenience, the colour-keyed door mirrors are electrically adjustable, too.

Verso T2 offers you a choice between the advanced 2.2 litre D-4D 140 diesel engine and the responsive 1.8 or 1.6 litre VVT-i petrol engines. Whichever engine you specify, MacPherson strut front and torsion beam rear suspension systems ensure smooth ride comfort, whether you’re driving alone or with all seven seats occupied.

In addition to driving pleasure, Verso T2 provides the peace-of-mind that comes with a comprehensive package of safety features, including the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD).

Toyota quality serviceYour Toyota retailer will talk you through the Verso ‘Health and Safety’ maintenance programme. The programme is very straightforward and designed for your convenience. In effect, your Verso needs a full Health and Safety check, dependant on driving style and conditions, up to once every two years or 20,000 miles (whichever comes sooner). An intermediate Health and Safety check is necessary every year or 10,000 miles.

Toyota warranty

Comprehensive termsThe warranty covers any defect caused by a manufacturing or assembly fault. It is valid for three years of normal use or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first, with no mileage limitation for the first year.

If the car is immobilised due to a breakdown (as a result of a defect covered under warranty), you will also be covered for the cost of towing your vehicle to the nearest authorised Toyota repairer.
